How do you change a starter on a 1984 Mercedes 300 SD

car will not start and just had a new battery installed. when you turn the key you hear a click, there are also 2 loose wires (red and black) that look as if they connect to the starter, not sure where they would go.

Original engine was changed to a 6 cylinder and do not know what it came out of. The car is a "grey market" from Switzerland. 1984 300SE. Need to find out which models came with a 6 to make it easier when ordering parts. I'm in need of a distributor and don't have the original one.

Love the luxurious interior, convertible, tight ride, & little larger back seat of the CLK and convertible. Just wonder how wise it is to buy a seven year old car vs. a younger model of a slightly lesser level of car (CLK is 1000 lbs heavier). The older model is a much more expensive car originally, and belief is M-B is a good solid car that lasts. Before 50K miles, '02 was certified pre-owned. Great price on '02 (less than $16K). Would love to hear other's thoughts!

I am looking to purchase Mercedes 240 or 300 diesel. What year(s) were most reliable, turbo or nonturbo? Thanks.

I am looking for a MB diesel and want to get the model year that is the most trouble-free if there is such a thing. Would be used as a daily driver for a short commute. Looking at a 240D, 300SD, and 300D. I do not know the differences between the model years to know what years to avoid that were known problem years for these specific models. installed a new glow plug relay four months ago which solved the problem of hard starts
recently the relay has not been working
so the car stars hard
my glow plug light does not work so I wait 15 to 20 seconds until I hear the relay click
then start the car
no click hard starts

I have a 1973 MB 280 when I tried to pull the 4 wire connector out of the ignition control unit the insulated boot crumbled in my hand. Is this going to cause problems? I can't seem to find this part on any listing at any store, any suggestions on where to get such pieces?

my 95 c220 MB passenger side window goes down, when I unlock my car door and stays down while I am driving. It will no go back up until the key is out of the iginition. I tried holding it while starting the car and it still goes down. Then it takes about 5 minutes to go back up. The switch will make it go up and down, but not while driving. When I lock the door it goes down. The lock on the passenger side is broken. Is this causing a problem? The switch does not work at all while driving. I can't leave my window down while driving or if I go out. What is going on. Do I need a special tool to take the inside door panel cover off? I need an answer soon. It's cold outside.....

I sometimes freewheel my Mercedes E320 auto, when going down hill to save fuel. Is this damaging the transmission?

hey i got a mercedes benz c240 4 matic....and i took it to the service place to get my engine oil changed and they put in 8.50 litters and thats 1.10 over then it should be....after 700 miles i was driving it and i noticed it wasnt driving the same and light was on saying to reduce oil level....so i checked the oil on top of the cap was yellow and so was the rim of the tube where the cap is put on.....it was thick and yellow.....and i dont know what that is.....should i be expecting serious problems or is this normal.....if u can answer me this it would be really helpfull....thank you

The car does not stop or slow down in a normal fashion. The engine is turning at high RPM's and there is no apparent sensation of slowing down, as in the feel of inertia, and the car does not reduce its speed to any noticeable degree. It is a frightening sensation.I asked the dealer and he said that this was the way the cars braking system was designed to operate as it is an ABS system and there is no engine braking but that the car has larger brakes to compensate for this fact. This sounds rather suspicious.

How do you change the low beam light of a Mercedes-Benz M320. I am unable to take the old bad one out. Thanks

boght a ml 350 2006 with 26 k miles on it. I feel a jerking motion when the car is in slow speeds around 10-15 miles per hour especially when slowing down kinda like a new driver learning to shift on a manual, brought it to the dealer but they said nothing is wrong with it. how or where do i go from here, any suggestions?

Thanks for your response, yes it feels like a quick jerking motion when it downshits from 2nd to 1st and when i make a complete stop and when its in 1st gear going to second gear but after that on higher speeds the transmission is smooth. that problem should be covered by the warranty right? thanks again for your advice.
