I was told that this Van has 2 engines that were made for it. 1 engine is not as good as the other. Is the Nissan engine better than the other one made? 94-95 Mercury Villager Nissan Quest 3.0L Engine. I found this one and it has 180,000 mi on it. It sounds like it is worn out. If there is a difference between engines which one would be the one to get?
I've been told that this "limbo" was designed to enable you to get to a service center before you further harm the trans. Also that it indicates the trans. is on the way out and no fix is available by adjusting the throttle valve cable or shift cable etc. Only 160,000 miles on it. I've drained and refilled the fluid. Any words of wisdom before I have it hauled off to the shop?

Best price for a mirror on the sun visor of a 02 Nissan Sentra SE-R?

I bought my 02 Nissan Sentra used back in 2006 and I need to replace (one side doesn't have one at all w/ wiring showing and the other one's cover is no longer there) the sun visor's mirrors on both the driver's and passanger's side. I called up my local Nissan dealer and they are telling me that I can only order the sun visor and not just the mirror. I would do this IF it wasn't so expensive! They quoted me $161 for the driver's side and $108 for the passanger's side. Anyone know where I can get just the mirror itself or possibly the sun visor w/o the big price tag? Thanks.

2001 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 is stuck in 4wd low. I used it in Auto mode, then switched to 4wd Hi for a trip skiing yesterday for 70 miles one way, no problems. On the way home, I started in 4wd low for about a half hour (slow moving traffic) and when I tried to switch back to 4wd hi and 2wd, it wouldn't switch out of low mode, even after letting it sit overnight.

Dealer says I need a new motor in 2005 Murano from sludge, can you add something to clean it out?

I have a 2005 Murano that started knocking at 33500 miles in Sept, 07. There was no warning lights or hot temp. I took it to the dealer and was told there was only 1 qt of oil in car. They changed the oil and said there was nothing wrong. Since there was no leaking I asked where the oil went. The answer was I don't know. 2 months later, Nov, 07 it started knocking again. I took it back, again nothing wrong, changed oil and told me to use high test gas. Now in Jan, at 41,000 miles, it was knocking again, took it back and I was told the motor is full of sludge and needs a new motor. The mechanic said there was only 1/2 qt of oil now. Spoke to Nissan and questioned why no waring lights came on and was told the oil wasn't low enough to trigger the sensors...told them to save money and not put any warning lights in car if they won't go off until the car explodes.
I have a question regarding headlights. I own a 2004 maxima and a 2008 maxima. I noticed that the headlights on the 2008 are much brighter. I looked in the owners manual and it says the 2008 is a 65 watt 9005LL and the 2004 headlight bulbs are a 55 watt 9012.
I was wanting to know if the size bulbs in the 2008 will fit and work in the 2004 model?????
Thanks in advance,
Billy

02 Altima 2.5S with possible leak should I take it to the dealership?

I purchased an 02 Altima 2.5S with only 21,000 miles on it in July 07. It now has roughly 31,000 miles on it. I noticed the car was taking longer to shift and then when it did shift a slight jerk. I checked the transmission fluid and it was almost empty. This was on 2/2/08. I added the fluid and it ran perfect again. Now it feels like it is starting to do it again. Is this normal should I ever have to refill the transmission fluid? I don't ever recall having to do this in any other car. Do I need to take it to the dealership? I have a warranty but I have to pay $50 for each item that needs repair. Would I be better off to find a repair shop or just take in to the dealership?

Could a burnt clutch at 29000 miles be caused by a faulty transmission that had to be changed?

I took my 2005 nissan xterra (29,000 miles)in for servicing because the transmission sounded funky, the clutch felt spongy, and the front end was making noises. Two and a half weeks later it was diagnosed with a burnt out clutch which they told me would cost me $1200 dollars (not covered under my extended warranty). I inquired about the transmission which they stated that the clutch had to be fixed first. I expressed that I have been driving a standard for over 15 years and have never experienced a clutch burning out that quickly especially on a car bought brand new. I told them my car payment is $600 a month and their saying that I had to pay for the clutch because of excessive abuse. I went through all the channels, spoke to a dozen people and got the run around, meanwhile my car sat at in the service department for two months while they told me that a specialist was needed to diagnose the problem. Two months later I recieve a call from the dealer telling me that the specialist looked at it and it was now going to cost me $1900 to fix the clutch and until that was fixed they could not diagnose the transmission. I couldn't believe it, I told them that I was coming to get my car because this was ridiculous. They had my car for two months didn't do a damn thing to it accept drain the battery and on top of that charged me $350 to get it back. I took my car to another dealership where a friend of mine worked at and they told me the same thing about the clutch but would only cost me a $1000 so I had them do it. After the clutch was fixed they checked the transmission and found it to be defective and a new transmission was put in (this was covered by warranty). So for three months I paid car payments $1800, $1200 for the clutch, $600 for insurance, $300 more for a expired registration, $150 for a new battery, and I lost my job because i didn't have my ride. That is why I was asking if the burnt out clutch could have been caused by the defective transmission because if so I would like to at the very least be reimbursed for the clutch because I know I was not the cause of it burning out at 29000 miles

Is there any way I can tell if my cooper lifeliner touring sle tires are all season tires ??? I don't see any markings on tires saying all season. I have a 2002 nissan altima v6 w/17" tires. The car is acting very bad in snow conditions. I have had other front wheel drive cars and never had such a bad car in snow. I was carrying 35# pressure in tires but recently took pressure down to 33# which seem to help but car still seems to have trouble in snow. Any ideas on what problem could be or is car just not that great in snow???

Thanks

Just bought this Nissan 96 SE V6 Pathfinder. only 60000 Miles. Car starts making stranges movements/ sudden shakes to left or right above 40 MPh.
Especially on highway used by heavy traffic. Is sometimes frightning.
Bought new shocks for front, but this does not solve the problem. Suspect suspension problem . Worn bushings ? Broken Stabilizer rods ? Please tell me how to tackle this strange problem.

I don't drive it very often. The smell doesn't come inside the car. But even in strong wind, if it is idling, it smells terrible. Definately not normal. The dealer took a look and said nothing was wrong. Please advise.

I want to put the OEM 18" Armada/Titan Wheels on my 06 Pathfinder. I know the bolt pattern does not match and will need to use wheel adapters. I have found several that would work but have not purchased yet. Has anyone tried this?

Paint care - New car - Nissan Altima - need REAL advice.

I picked up a 06 Frontier and attempted to keep it as nice as possible and failed.

Now we have a new 08 Altima. BLACK. It already has some minor swirls etc from poor car washing prior to selling it.

I want to use the BEST quality items for taking care of this vehicle and my frontier. Please help.

I started using Microfiber towels, washed after every use. I use one for the top half of the car, and another for the bottom half. I do NOT use the same soap and bucket for the bottom half of the car. I then do the wheels last. I still have plenty of marks on the car.

I was interested in doing some serious spring cleaning on this truck. I noticed the mothers 3 step process. Is this worth it?
Btw - I use pure carnuba and a polish pad to apply, microfiber to remove wax. I only waxed about 3 times a year.

So what can I do to bring my trucks finish back to the best quality I can. I'll buy whatever I need to...I need new tools/toys. :) If I need a buffer so be it.

And how should I start with this new Altima? Is there anything I can do NOW before I get tree sap, bug goo etc before it's too late? How about from now on?

Thanks!

S
