2000 Toyota ECHO CD problem. I accidentally placed a paper garage parking ticket into the single disc factory original CD player disc slot. The player turned on and ate the paper ticket. Pushing reject did nothing. I was able to remove the paper ticket with tweezers. The CD player will not allow another disc to be inserted. Pushing reject does nothing. It seems that the player thinks there is still a cd inside preventing an other to be inserted.

The alternator and battery have checked out fine . I had the alternator bench tested and tested in the car with a Vac 40 . The battery is brand new .
Funny thing is the other morning the cars battery light came on and the car eventually died . I recharged the battery and drove the car home . Now the battery light has not come on and the car runs fine except for the strobing of the interior lights . I was told by a mechanic that my battery was going bad so I replaced it today but the strobing ie dimming and brightening continues .

I just notice it like a month ago. Also I can't seem to notice any oil dripping under my car. I been using Royal Purple 5w 30 & K&N oil filter for almost 2 years now. The total miles for my car is like 130,000. Any reason why this is happening? Thanks.

I hear squealing in my '02 Toyota Echo. Sounds like a timing belt, but Echo's don't have those. What could it be?

The squealing isn't very loud, nor does it occur every time the car is on. I first noticed it on a more humid morning when the car was covered in condensation. I haven't been running the AC - weather's been nice. My husband said the sound reminded him of when he had to change his timing belt in his old car. Echos have timing chains which should last the life of the car (ours is at ~73,300 mi). No problems with the car other than squeaky breaks - I'll be getting all that replaced over the next few paychecks. Any ideas on this mysterious squeal?

Okay. I seem to be in quite a rut finding a decent used car! Bleh!

Anyways, there is a nearby VW dealership selling a 9 VW Passat TDI manual with a clean history (1 owner no accidents) and 40k miles manual for like $7000. I've been reading and this particular model seems to get good reviews with excellent mpg. I know VWs are either love 'em or hate 'em...I love the way they look but have never owned one!

There's also a 95 Geo Metro with 61k miles, auto, ac for $2500, but the Carfax says it's had like 5 owners...is the car a piece of junk or could it possibly be worth it?

There's also an 02 Echo manual with 110k mi for $4800. Piece of junk?

How about a 2004 Pontiac Vibe AWD automatic with 80k mi for $9500? My mother's trust level for Pontiacs is very low but this year/model has gotten excellent reviews.

There's also a guy selling his 2005 Scion xA with clean history for like $8000. Good car or not?
