A 7days old yaris w/ a 3000 down payment got totaled. Do I need to pay for the difference?

Hi! I need your advice. I bought a new car last november. After 7 days, my sister and I got into an accident. Our insurance coverage is 100/300/100 and I was under my dads insurance. I already paid the deductible and the premium balance for 6months already. The car was declared as total wreck. Now, my dad is asking me for another 2400 for the difference. Is there such thing as difference? He’s telling me that I need to pay this amount to the insurance. Actually, a lot of people is telling me that there’s something fishy going on. Im not the one who holds the policy thats why when I called the insurance they’re not entertaining my questions that much even though I’m the one who’s paying them and involved in the accident. Are they really like that? The only thing that i asked them is if I owe the insurance a certain amount (which is the difference that my dad is talking about) and they told me that I dont need to pay anything anymore. Instead I’m going to recieve a claim but my dad didn’t mention it to me. The difference that he is talking about is THE ORIGINAL VALUE of the CAR- THE DEPRECIATED/ ACTUAL/ PRESENT VALUE OF THE CAR AFTER 7DAYS. Get it? (Example the toyota yaris original value is 14000- 12000 which is the depreciated value and the evaluated value by the insurance= 2000 which is the difference) Please.. I need your advice as soon as possible. Is it true?? I dont know what to believe now. Please email me or something. Thanks so much.

Hi. My neighbor has a newer looking Toyota Yaris car. Every time she gets in or out of her car (every time she arms or disarms her car alarm), the car horn honks two very loud, fast beeping noises. Is there some easy way she can disable the honking noise when she arms or disarms her alarm, but still allow the alarm to sound if someone breaks into her car?
Thanks,
OliveOil

The Toyota service manager in Kamloops BC claims that the Copustar CM1000a remote entry & alarm is not compatible with my Standard shift, 4 door 2006 Yaris. He says it is causing electrical troubles with my car and I should rip it out and install a Toyota keyless entry. This system was installed by Visions Electronics in Kamloops. I don't believe him, I have been taken for a $400 ride to diagnose and fix the problem. Also are there some Toyota self help/victims organizations?

Poor mileage on my '08 Yaris 4 door sedan. What can I do?

I'm leasing an '08 Yaris Sedan that, based on 7/5.7 ltrs./100k should get between 600 and 740 per 42 litre tank. I have 8000km on the car now and the most I've ever gotten was 560km with 1 litre left in the tank. I've kept track of all my receipts and have an Excel spreadsheet with all the mileage results calculated.

I've been in constant contact with the dealership about this because the salesmen I bought it from said both himself and his two sons have Yaris' and they consistently get 800-900km on a tank. I've given all my documents to the dealership and they have contacted the head office. They 'reflashed' the car 2 weeks ago resulting in a 5% increase in mileage. They said they had a problem with a Matrix last year when I asked them about any other mileage problems. My concern is that if head office comes back and says they won't do anything. I've got a '96 Tercel down 30% in one of the cylinders that gets better mileage than this new Yaris and I'm frustrated. Can anyone help out? Thanks.

I've been leasing this car since '07. I've been hit on the head several times. I've just been too busy to do anything about it or thought that nothing could be done about it, but wait, I might be having some serious head injuries down the road. If there is a slight wind the trunk will come down when I'm retrieving groceries etc., I've been hit on the head and once nearly knocked out!

I've brought this up before to Toyota and they've done nothing. The other day, I was manually raising the trunk and it only went half way, coming down hard on my head and leaving me with a bump for a few days! I've just about had it! I lease this thing for almost $300.00 a month and I'm going to end up with head injuries! For God sakes, what can I do? I live in Canada.

Michele

We're a young family (one child) living in Israel. We want to buy a used car and are considering three different cars: Toyota Corolla, Toyota Yaris Verso & Opel Astra. Our budget is about $12,000 US, give or take, which means we could probably buy the year 2000 model of any of these cars (the Astra is a bit cheaper). Looks don't matter to us at all. We would need reasonable trunk space. Most important to us is overall, long-term economy and a reliable car which will hardly ever need to see the garage. Which one should we go for?

The weather here is cold, but not bitter. About 32 degrees. I have owned a Grand Prix and a Taurus and neither did this to me... The Toyota dealer told me that all toyota cars have the same thing I described, and assured me it was completely normal. What concerned me more was that shortly after I left the dealer, my check engine light would come on for the first 10 seconds my car was on.
Thanks in advance.

Your opinion on Toyota Yaris, Matrix vs Honda Fit and Chrysler PT Cruiser?

I have a 2008 PT Cruiser I bought used w/19,000K on it. It now has almost 37,000K miles. I haven't had any major problems just recently had to replace lower control arm. I have extended warranty so only paid $50.00 for it. I love the car but thinking of trading in for Honda Fit or Toyota Matrix both hatchbacks. I like hatchbacks since I have dogs.

Money is an issue as we're trying to refinance our house in the Making Homes Affordable program and my fiancé' thinks if I trade for a new car now it will look bad and we might not get help with the house. This is personal but I've also been told by a local mechanic that a PT Cruiser has Dodge Neon parts! specifically the engine. I'm just getting concerned about after 75K miles after warranty expires if a major part goes.

I know Toyota's and Honda's are known for their quality and while my PT Cruiser is still fairly new I think a trade in now is best.

I may have to wait a couple months to trade as we're waiting to get the lower mortgage/interest loan modification on our house now and I don't want to put that in jeopardy. This is a sensitive issue right now and I don't know what the bank would say if they see me trading my car for a more pricey car with higher monthly payments. I pay $298.00 a mo. for PT Cruiser and the Toyota Yaris would be about $400.00.
I would greatly appreciate your advice and opinion on cars. Thank you again
Jane

Suzuki SX4 Crossover, Nissan Cube, VW Rabbit or Toyota Yaris? Which is the smarter choice?

I currently have 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport and need to get something more practical for me, my boyfriend and our 2 dogs. I would like to get something in the $15,000 range.

I love the Suzuki but have doubts about the reliability, mpg and re-sale value. I have ready many good reviews, and then the bad ones are scary bad. However I still like the car and I suspect that by the time I"m ready to buy (November) there will be some really good rebates and incentives.

The Cube is great but with it being new to the market, I don't think the incentives are going to be that great.

The Yaris - the car is the perfect size, but 106 hp even for something that small... c'mon. Plus the fact that by the time I add options it will cost the same as a cube or SX4.

VW Rabbit - love it but mpg's and I think its going to be expensive. VW has had better sales than most recently.

So which would you choose from the 4 above and why? Any input is greatly appreciated.
Sunny
