New VW GTI. Is it okay to use non-premium fuel? Should I wax it right away? (Declined Teflon from dealer).

I'm getting a new VW GTI this week. I declined the dealer's offer to teflon coat it. I assume I should wax it right away.
I've also heard that it's okay to use less than premium fuel in them knowing it will likely decrease gas mileage.
I'm also declining the dealer's wheel warranty. Has anyone had bad experience with the 18" alloy wheels?

Can I switch my VW GTI to full synthetic oil after 68k miles?

Need to know if anyone has ever had to have the underneath suspension rebuild on GTI; my son ran over a curb; high speed and totaled the suspension; card is being repaired but it has taken two months.

the timing belt broke while setting still. I replaced the belt and cannot find the timing marks or a manual to get directions from. can any one give me the correct location and settings of the valve pully to get my girl running again. 1992 vw gti 1.8

How many total cup holders are there on an VW MKIV GTI? Where are they? It's for the 2002 model year.

I would like to know:

If it has more than 2 cup holders. Its an odd question, but on some Mondays, I take my friends home usually totaling 3-4 (including driver) people. Sometimes we stop for a bite to eat and in my current car, I have two of the smallest useless cupholders now. I already know about the 2 up front above the stereo, but are there any more?

Computer, transmission problems with a 2001 VW GTI. Anyone with similar problems?

I have a 2001 VW GTI that is experiencing either computer/eletrical problems or transmission problems. For multiple days the cars transmission runs great, but then I have rough shifting, not shifting into 2nd gear, or will be in 4th or 5th gear and suddenly down shift. Any suggestions- I just feel it is either a computer malfunction or some tyupe of any electrical problem . jeff

I have an 07 GTI with DSG. I put it in neutral when coming to a stop. Does this save gas or hurt the transmission?

i have noticed improved mileage using this method but I'm not sure if it is good for the transmission since it is going in and out of gear so often.

I live in the Dallas, TX area and want to get my car boosted up with horsepower and performance. If it's a superchip, then where can I obtain one. If it is any other ways to add on items to boost the horsepower on the engine. Catback exhaust system? Can you recommend anyone in the local area or items to purchase that are quality, authentic, and not too pricey, as well as easy to install.

I have a 1998 GTI recently bought for my daughters first car. This morning the car will not come out of park. The automatice gear shift button will not depress to allow the car to be put into drive. There are no warning lights on - Any Ideas?

I have a handling problem with my '03 GTI (70k miles). On hard left turns at 45 mph, the right front tire scuffs and loses traction, making a wop, wop, wop sound. I've replaced the struts and shocks, and have a new set of tires and aligned the front end. Before having the maintenance work done, the dealer and two shops said it sounded like worn struts, but the problem remains.

I have always had Toyotas but decided to buy this cute 2007 GTI, which is sporty, fast, and good on fuel, cute too. (package 2). However I have had terrible electrical issues basically from the start! Is this normal? The dealer is terrible, and there are no other dealers for service in my area. Radio bass problems, fuel pressure sensor, airbag defaults, recall on headlights, and more. Anyone else having these problems? This is very furstrating. Any advice would be appreciated!

Both manual 5 speed, I have driven both. The GTI is leather, the mazda is not. This is my first car and I really love the way the GTI drives.

After school today I'm going to the dealership, and I just need some last minute tips.

I can buy out my 2006 BMW330Xi that's coming off lease or spend almost the same money on a new VW GTI. Advice?

By the time I buy the extra warranty to cover my BMW for another 3 years, the price works out to be within a $1000 for a new loaded VW GTI with the same warranty. The choice is between a higher quality used car and a new car that's smaller, but still a blast to drive. Any advice out there? The BMW depreciates less than the GTI so it'll be worth more in 3 years. If I go to the GTI, will I miss the BMW?
