Selling Car at End of Lease?

My wife's Acura MDX lease is up next month and my neighbor wants to buy the vehicle. What are our options? The bank that holds the paperwork on the lease said only I could pay off the note. I want to transfer title at lease end to my neighbor and only have to pay sales tax once. If I purchase and re-sell, it appears the state wins with two sales tax payments. Thoughts?

We sold our Infiniti, which at the time was four years old, in 2006, prior to moving to Japan for a year. Since we returned, we have had ridiculously harassing phone calls (YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IS REQUIRED. YOUR WARRANTY IS EXPIRING SHORTLY, etc.) Lately these have increased the ante to, believe it or not, "YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IS REQUIRED, YOUR WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED.' These are all robot calls, of course. I have not found any means of extinguishing them on either Infiniti Americas or Nissan Japan's website. Considering the attention these people make to NEW owners, why is there no follow-up for those who have sold their cars?
We are, by the way, Federally registered as not wanting unsolicited calls, for whatever good that does. The robot calls are a loophole nobody in Congress ever thought about. We get them several times a day. Every time I wait patiently to try to speak to a human, and explain the situation, I am hung up upon. If this is a future vision of Nissan customer service, I want none of it. I had considered buying another Infiniti, but if this is going to be the usual rigamorale, that's the end of that idea. I will keep what I have (an older BMW 5-series). I live in the Washington, DC metro area.

I finally agreed to sell my 87 560sl Mercedes Benz hard/soft convertible. Due to hard times. I was asking 3 grand. My pal? Pressured me down to $2250. Grand. I agreed. But insisted the payment be 1 lump sum. Paid by 3/1. Poo happened. He was a no show for 4 weeks then mailed me $200 to secure sale then a check $1500 after Ii insisted went to the bank for another $500 cash after he tipped his hand , I found he had cash he was sitting on, and then agreed to pay last 250.00 on time no later than due date 3/1 or all bets were off.

He lied saying he lost his job. But, no payment. Now I'm writing him to let him know he needs to drive it back and drop it off and pick up his check . I will take action. Period. I figured, i would go find my car, repo it, I have set of keys still. Drive it home and drop check in mail on my way out of, his, town. I do have the right to pick up my car don't I? And then let him file small claims if he wants to dispute? Most importantly I being told to charge for the vec being leased? Prorate? Am i responsible to pay back the full amount he paid me? Or as usual will i find am I dead meat ?Again?

Thanks for previous answers on my Toyota. My other car is a 90 Camaro convertible with a custom Borat? muffler (Don Johnson style). I am the original owner and it has been garaged. It has low miles 60,000 and is in excellent shape except for two ripped leather seats.

It was in the opening episode of the t.v. show Gossip Girls this season. Is this car "special" enough to command a good price, and "worthy" of repairing the seats etc..

My husband recently passed away. I have his 08 Ford Edge with approximately 24K miles and is paid for. How should I sell it?

My husband purchased an 08 Ford Edge limited last April. It is loaded with every items you can put on it. Last November he passed away. I had to pay off his car or it would have been repossessed.

Now I have two vehicles and don't need the car. It is a little high off the ground for me to get into. I have a Mercedes R class wagon that I drive.

What is the best way to sell a vehicle that is almost brand new and paid off? I don't want to lose a fortune on it. And I don't want strangers coming into my home so I don't want to sell it myself. Any ideas?

We Live in Ohio. We sold a vehicle and the customer signed an agreement to purchase "As Is". They called 6 days later and said the odometer does not work and they are threatening to sue unless we take back the vehicle or pay to have the odometer fixed.

Last time we drove it, to the best of our recollection, the odometer did work. We also have maintenance/repair slips proving that each time, the mileage had increased. Do we have anything to worry about?

How can we place the car in my name alone? Can she sign it over to me via notarized letter? Or possibly give me Power of Attorney to sign it over? Anyone have suggestions or ideas? PA's DMV site was spectacularly unhelpful.

I'm with a national brokerage company that connects buyers and sellers of cars. I am trying to find out what rate I can justify charging new and used car dealers for each serious CASH buyer that I refer to them. I know the average commission rate for a salesperson at the dealership is probably 20-25% of the profit margin. However, I have no way of knowing the invoice price. Therefore, I seek to get paid from the actual sales price. What is a reasonable rate of the sales price that I should charge, especially since much of the selling, marketing, advertising, administrative tasks, corresponding, scheduling, etc. is being performed by my organization? Any input, especially from car salesmen and/or managers, is greatly appreciated.

My Mini Cooper was in a front end accident and insurance won't cover it. I was able to drive the car home and to a body shop for an estimate. The cost of replacing the hood, light, and radiator is about half of the car's value. I plan on selling the car as-is on ebay rather than repair it. I live in California. The dealership delivered our van by driving it from MD to NJ. The starting milage to us was 155. It was supposed to have been carried. Can I do anything? They did not take any money off the price for doing so. I also have to find out the first day of my insurance. It may have been covered when they drove it.

Bought a 2004 325i BMW, has about 65K on it. Owe 16K on it, but probably could only get 14-15K private sale. I know a lot of people have it way worse than this, but I am physically ill finding this out.

The payment is $375\month, thanks to a loss when I traded in my Saab. I would like to get a payment around $200 a month. I see that some companies are offering money down, and I could use this for a down payment on a new lease. My Subaru Outback is an 07, basic model, auto trans with 27K. I have a couple months to get my finances in order, however given that state of our economy sooner is better than later.

When you sell your car instead of trading it in, does the seller have any tax liabilities?

A friend of mine has two restored Lancia's. A 1979 Lancia Beta 2000 Spider Zagato with 157000 miles. He has fixed the engine, recovered the seats and dashboard, replaced the transmission, replaced both cloth roof inserts, and had the car repainted in its original red color.

The other car is a 1992 Lancia Delta Integrale 16v HF Evoluzione 4WD, with a rebuilt engine, new transmission, a restored interior and exterior, and only 30,000 miles.

The Delta Integrale was imported from France in 1996 and spent 9 years in somebody's garage before being bought by my friend and restored. He wants to know what they're worth and how to sell them.

How would I go about selling a car I just purchased through financing but now don't want? Made purchasing mistake.

I bought a fancy car but my wife feels unsafe in the car because it is too flashy. We put a carjack car alarm on the car but, still we don't drive it because the neighborhood is too bad and we feel they are just waiting to carjack us!
