Most of the imports are selling and the American companies are not selling their cars. The warrantees and quality of the imports is much better.

I am trying to price a NEW 07 Dodge Magnum R/T with zero options. I have always used Edmunds.com to help me during my car buying experiences and I have never had any trouble finding the info that I needed to have an informed buying decision. BUT, I cant get that info. Has something changed? It will only give me 08 info. Hmmmm, what should I do?
BTW, I am looking for invoice and current incentives for Alabama.

Factory Incentives and Employee Pricing (GM)

I am entitled to the GM Family First pricing structure. I am eligible to purchase vehicles at the employee price. I also received some factory rebates in the mail ($2000 loyalty and $2000 cash back).

I was told by one friend I could use this on top of the employee pricing whereas I heard elsewhere the employee pricing is non negotiable and nothing else can be applied to it.

The theory that it is non negotiable doesn't sound right to me..This would assume the best possible deal...I am sure car buyers without employee discounts were able to negotiate their way to a better deal than employee pricing.

Which one is correct?

Is employee pricing usually a pretty good deal?

GM is now offering employee pricing on 08 models. My understanding is that this is a price below factory invoice. Plus you still get the rebate they are offering. So other than holdbacks, etc, it seems like a pretty low point to start negotiations.

There are factory discounts of course that don't affect the dealer, i was wondering if the employee price is a factory discount, thus I can still work the dealer like I normally would to get to invoice or below.

Or is that it, is this really a no haggle price and I shouldn't expect much more.

Thanks

I am not planning on buying a new car anytime soon. However, from now till 10/31/08, I have $2000 in GM Card Earnings that I can split evenly with someone else who is buying a car from GM. Thus I'll get $1000 and the buyer will save $1000 on his new car. I know how to do it according to the GM card program rules. All I need to do now is to find someone who is going to buy from GM! How do I do that???

Mercedes was recently offering pretty large cash-to-dealer incentives to move leftover '08's. Those incentives are no longer offered by Mercedes, and therefore don't now appear on Edmunds.com pages, though they were received by the dealers. Are the Edmunds archives searchable, or is there another source to see what those cash-to-dealers incentives were so I can best negotiate the price on one of these leftovers?
Lex

I want to get the best price, of course, but realistically, car salesmen have to make a living too.

The question is, how much above the Consumer Reports' price (Invoice minus incentives and holdbacks) is reasonable? I mean, if I offer them a 5% markup, take it or leave it, am I being too generous or too stingy?

How much more can you expect a dealer to come down on a new vehicle if they are already offering supplier pricing, plus cash allowances, etc?

I've already played the "invoice game" where they brought one out and showed me what they supposedly paid for that vehicle. I questioned that stating that I know there are more than one invoice and that a dealer will never truly show you what they paid for a vehicle.

Long story short, I have a dealer down to $20,000 out the door on a sticker of roughly $34,000 for a 2009 extended cab Silverado LT with Z71 package 4x4. This is including my trade in which is a paid off 2003 Ford Ranger XLT supercab 4x4 with 82,000 in great shape.

I am currently not budging from wanting to be at $17,000 out the door, am I expecting too much, or should I hold my ground especially with the 2010's coming out soon?? I feel that I am in a good position being that I have a quality vehicle that is paid off, and I don't necessarily have to make this purchase.

Thanks,

I know some of you might have had shopped around for the Toyota Sienna Minivan CE Pkg#1 option. If so, can you please help me decide!!! I am planning to go for the Sienna CE with the pkg#1 option and the best quote that I have got so far is for 22K from a Toyota dealer in Southern California.

Please advise if this is a good deal? Will it be a worth while effort to bargain for a better price than the above?

Also, Toyota is offering 0% APR for qualified buyers OR the $1500 Rebate. I think I might qualify for the 0% APR. My question is, 'Is it a no brainer to automatically choose 0% APR over the $1500 Rebate? Or is it worth while to think about arranging some funds to actually pay down the entire cost of the vehicle and get the $1500 rebate?

Please advise!!!

THanks.

Thanks.

Last year, Nissan gave an additional $2,000 rebate to owners of 2004 Quests who traded for a new 2007 Quest (above the normal $3,000 rebate). Obviously, they were trying to get people into newer vehicles. Since we currently own a 2005 Quest, I was wondering if Nissan will offer a similar program this year if we trade to a 2008 Quest. The additional rebate would be above the $3,500 that is currently being offered and last year only applied to those who owned a 2004 model who were trading to the newer 2007 model.

Since you have to wait a year on their $99 reservation program or pay the inflated CarTrader
offers, does anyone have any suggestions to assure me that I'm getting the best price on my
Fortwo from the dealer?

Would I get a better lease deal on an '09 Civic EX before the end of year or if I wait until Jan/Feb '09? I'm in San Francisco.

Lease on my Volvo ends in Feb '09. Looking at '09 Civic EX for my next car to lease. Visited local dealer in San Francisco last week (mid November). He said he could offer Invoice pricing if not a drop below if I get my new car before the end of December. He seemed to think he could get me out of my last two payments on my Volvo without adding them to my new car payments.

I know that Honda has incentives now and that dealers want to move cars off the lot before the end of the calender year, but I've also heard that Jan/Feb is a really good time to get a good deal on a new car. Sales guy said he couldn't make any guarantees for early '09 because we don't know what will happen in the economy and what incentives will be available. My credit is OK - about 700 with high credit card balances :-(

**Would I get a better deal on my new car now (before the end of December) or if I wait until January or Feb of '09?
