I own 1990 chevy s10 has been running fine until the valves started knocking. I reset timing and idle to get the knocking to stop. Knocking stopped but the idle is too low. The timing mark on the harmonic balancer is now about 1 1/2 off the gauge for setting timing. Could it have jumped time?

My truck isn't shifting properly, is it the transmission or a blocked catalytic converter?

Last fall I changed the transmission pan gasket and cleaned out the pan. I found pieces of what an expert called a snapring that holds stuff together inside the transmission. Truck has been running fine until last week when I noticed it wasn't shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I was quoted somewhere between $1600-2400 for the transmission. I can't afford that right now. I have installed my own junkyard transmissions before for cheaper. I talked to my dad and he had a catalytic converter get plugged up and not allow the engine to shift. I do not understand this, but could one of you experts suggest a troubleshooting path to follow?

Can someone help me out? I have a question on pickup campers and a trailer.

I saw a trailer at a RV show some years ago that was specifically made to also hold a pickup camper. The front of the trailer was an enclosed bed and when the trailer was backed under the pickup camper it fit together to make a whole camper trailer. I like this idea becuase I can pull the trailer behind my pickup camper and when I store the two, the trailer can fit nicely under the pickup camper. Can anyone tell me who makes this trailer or if they have seen one somewhere? Thanks

When purchasing my truck it was listed as an '06, but after looking at lit in glove box it is all '07 lit. It has coffee or coke spills on it so I assume it is the original lit. I looked on the door of the truck and it show mfg in June of '06 - which could be either. So, my question is how can one find out if it is indeed an '06 or '07? If it is an '07 then I was sold a truck under false pretense.

I've heard that getting the "trailer towing package" everyone offers only decreases mileage and doesn't offer that much better transmission life?

On 1/1/08, my brother's truck starting smoking under the hood as if it were overheating. As he pulled over to the side of the road, flames shot out on the driver side from under the dash. He had surgery today to help the 2nd & 3rd degree burns on his lower body. The truck is "totaled" but that is nothing compared to what he is experiencing. Just wondering if this truck has a know history of this. I do not see any recall info for something that would cause such a horrifc experience.

I will be buying a diesel pickup to tow a 34-ft. fifth wheel and some say that all I'll need is a 3/4-ton; others recommend a full-ton. I have absolutely no knowledge of diesels or their towing capacity. I need help as I'm just beginning my research. Has anybody written a book on this? I have no dealer-loyalty, I just want the best pickup.

2001 Dodge Dakota autotrans was rebuilt. Now let off gas and drops out of lockup; give gas & it jerks into lockup

The transmission was rebuilt at 80,000 miles by a transmission shop because it was up and down shifting constantly. Now it works OK, but I can be on the highway in lockup, let off the gas and I can watch the tach drop as it immediately drops out of lockup. When I apply the gas, it jerks as it grabs back into lockup. The transmission shop says the new springs in the transmission are stronger and that's the reason. Is this something I have to live with? Driving the truck is pretty irritating now. Help!!

Help! I am having trouble with my 2001, Chevrolet pickup fuel pump?

When truck stalls, the fuel pump stops humming, also the gear indicator goes to 2nd gear, or flashes thru all gears including park, reverse, etc.

I have changed out fuel filter, alternator, and battery, I have a new ac delco fuel pump. but now I am thinking it may be a relay, or other electrical problem.
