How can I retrieve codes from a 19994 Buick Lesabre? Can I use a jumper? Connector looks OBDII , but is OBDI

Help, I have a problem with my 1994 Buick Lesabre. The check engine soon light comes on intermittently and I feel an occasional miss in the engine.
I tried an OBDII scanner in the OBDII type connector, but found it would not work and the sticker under the hood says OBDI. Can I pull the codes with a jumper and check engine light flashes? If so, which pins do I jumper in the OBDII type connector? I don't want to blow the ECM.

    help !!

I have 2000 Le Sabre 3.8 . Looks and runs great except
for both lower control arm bushings, which are worn and
making noise . For some reason neither G.M. nor the after market
can supply these bushings ...only complete assembly at $600
per side .
Has anyone else run into this and found replacement bushings
from another application to fix this problem???

Thanks for any input .

I've had two shops check the motor mounts and they are fine. Just for GP I replaced the right upper one. The car on take off if I give it too much gas it sometimes sounds like the whole front end is going to jump out of the car. After take off it runs and shifts fine. Could it possibly be one of the sensors on the optional traction control which it has? The car has less than 70,000 miles on it.
Thanks, Alan

I took my 2000 Buick LeSabre in to a local auto repair shop for some new shocks/struts. They replaced them with Monroe Struts and the ride was horrible. They contacted the local Buick dealership and was told that the Shocks/Struts were discontinued. They told them they were using a NAPA replacement (The kind I do not know). But when they replaced them the ride is still just as bad as the Monroe.
I had a Mark VIII that when the air ride was turned off it felt this same way. But they told me that the air ride can be turned off the Buick.
The car seems to be setting lower and every time you go over the slightest little bump it feels as though the rear end is getting ready to fall off.
Do you have any idea what my problem is.

1998 Buick LeSabre electrical problems?

I have a silver 1998 Buick LeSabre that has many, many electrical problems. The first problem started when the battery holder broke off inside my main electronic transmitter (I guess you could call it "keyless entry," since it has the lock/unlock buttons) and the spare just stopped working altogether. I replaced the battery and everything and still no luck. Couldn't lock my doors after that, but I could still drive the car. The second problem is that shortly after that, the horn starts randomly honking by itself. I could be sitting at a stoplight and the horn would suddenly go off for no reason. The only way to turn it off was to keep pushing the horn until the noise stopped. Couldn't lock the doors and couldn't beep the horn if I needed to. Kind of dangerous, but I could still drive. The third problem is that shortly after the horn problem, the alarm AND the horn start to go off simultaneously at random times as well. The only remedy to this problem was to disconnect the battery and leave it unplugged for at least an hour. Couldn't lock the doors, couldn't beep the horn, and couldn't go long distances for fear that the alarm would go off (thus enabling the anti-theft feature and preventing me from starting the car.) But I could still drive, as long as I had a wrench (or whatever it is :p) to disconnect the battery. The final problem is that now, after all of these other problems, the car will not start. I still have auxiliary power (all the lights come on, the radio plays, windows roll down, etc.,) but the car won't run. Any guesses as to what may be happening? I was going to take it to the dealership to see about it, but they want $85-$100 just to look at it, let alone attempt to fix it and as a college student, I just can't afford that much for a diagnosis. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

My 98 buick lesabre has 70,000 miles on it and runs like a brand new car. Out of nowhere while I was driving about 30 mph the transmission slipped and none of the gears would work rev, 1, 2, 3 D, etc.. the idle now won't go past 2000 rpm in all gears including park and none of the gears do any thing when I push the gas in all gears including park the rpm rev stops at 2000 like its the max or something. Where should i start looking the check engine light never came on. Also my friend pushed the car with his car since it was just up the street and I had my car on so the power steering would work during the push. after being pushed about 30mph I put the car in drive and it drove about 3 seconds the front of the car dipped and the transmission stopped working again. What are some things that can be wrong or someone says can my ecu of went bad?
I recently joined as a new member and beforeI signed up I was able to view some of the questions other members had. I have a 94 Buick Lesabre Limited and I've been having this problem...all the lights(headlights, dashboard, ect) glow bright then dim then bright then dim and so on. Also the voltage on the battery goes from about 11v to 14v from 11v to 14v and so on and the car does a lot of jerking around because of it. I mentioned that I had the opportunity to view some questions earlier on because there was someone out there with the exact same problem and car. What could be going on and how can this problem be resolved? The alternator, battery and starters have already been replaced.

Speedometer stopped working, a couple of days later the gas guage also stopped working. A couple of weeks before I noticed the idle starting to be faster than normal and than it would even out. Not sure if its a coincidence but the battery also just completley died, not even able to jump it. Replaced with new battery, speedometer and guages still not working. It appears there is no powere to the whole panel because the speedometer needle use to move at least to the zero position, it just would not register any mph as the car was moving. Now it does not even move up to the zero poistion when the car is started. Have read about ECU and PCU problems on newer models but not sure if that has anything to do with this problem. Not even sure where those things are located on this car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it 1994 buick lesabre it has 42000 miles on last tune two weeks ago oil change three weeks ago new tires 2 months ago taken real good care of car i done the tune up two months early due to hesitation and it stalling and starting backup so i thought the tune up will fix it well after tune up it still stalle a couple times started right back up then ran excellent for two weeks and then stalled when going 70 milese per hour never started again towed it home put brand new battery in it due to me cranking the other one down so now i cant check for codes there were no lights on dash showing so now what do i do im also getting no spark which sensor can it possible be yes im a women but do know how to fix caes if i know what wrong with car so i need suggestions dont have money to get towed to garage for them to fix something i can do myself

i bought the car from someone that didnt drive it alot i had it three months and put 10000 miles on it i have every service record from original owner reason im saying this is because of this response:
Ok lets start with the basics,,your car is 14 yrs old and has 42,000 on the clock,,thats an average of 3,000 miles a year,,just barely enough for an oil change,,although to be on the safe side,,at 3,000 miles per year,,the oil and filter should of been changed at least once every 3 months,,and thats not because of the 3 thous miles,,its because the car was driven so little,,and that can be harder on a car than driving it every day.

As for the new tires,,we can rule them out,,because a car can run even if the rubber is bald.

When you did the tune up,,did you change all the belts and hoses ? Have they ever been changed ?

What about the vacuum lines,,have you changed them recently,,if not,,you could have numerous vacuum leaks,,and this could be a cause of the engine stalling.

When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump ? this is another area that could cause stalling.

it 1994 buick lesabre it has 42000 miles on last tune two weeks ago oil change three weeks ago new tires 2 months ago taken real good care of car i done the tune up two months early due to hesitation and it stalling and starting backup so i thought the tune up will fix it well after tune up it still stalle a couple times started right back up then ran excellent for two weeks and then stalled when going 70 milese per hour never started again towed it home put brand new battery in it due to me cranking the other one down so now i cant check for codes there were no lights on dash showing so now what do i do

i bought the car from someone that didnt drive it alot i had it three months and put 10000 miles on it i have every service record from original owner

Will a transmission from a 1991 Buick LeSabre work in a 1997 LeSabre?

I have a 1997 Buick LeSabre listed online because the transmission went. I received an e-mail from somebody wanting the VIN # for my car. They have a 1991 LeSabre with a blown engine and claim to need the VIN # for my car to see if the transmission from their car will work in mine. Because of all the scammers out there, I am leary about giving out the VIN# because I don't think it is needed to find this info out.

I own a 1996 Buick LeSabre, but I don't know if it's a Custom or Limited. There is nothing on the car to indicate what it is, and not on the registration. Every time I go to an auto part store to get something for it, they ask me this. Luckily, so far all of the parts have been interchangeable.

The mechanic tried to tell us it was a trait of that year, but we have spoken to others that have the same car and they have no problems. Please help us. Thank you
