We had the alternator and the starter checked, both are fine. We replaced the battery and it will start for a short time and then the check engine light comes on and now the security light also comes on. When I get someone to jump start it, it is just like the battery has been disconnected. We had the car to Auto Zone and had the check engine light checked and they said it was the O2 sensor, but that that would not make the car not want to start. Please Help!

1990 Buick Park Avenue stopped shifting into gear correctly, now intermittently hits (O)drive rarely. Changed fluid filter.

X-Husband gives me his extra car 1990Buick Park Ave.One owner, a little old couple, my car broke so he gave me his that day It stopped going into gear, the position lever shows the position but the transmission is not fully acknowledging the action. I looked for a new trans but He lives in a small town. I drove it into Portland to have the work done, because it does intermittently go into gear (O)Drive when you raise the RPM's past 30 or when it's cold or etc... Reverse does sometimes connect but very rarely, with no reason except that we're usually tapping, wiggling something like the lever position sensor or vaccum module. Now that it does go into gear I decided to do our own rebuild. We me and a couple of part time mechanics have made this my project. He has changed the Fluid Filter and changed the trans. fluid to Dexron III. The fluid looked filmy not sudsey and we're thinking that might be the problem origin. There wasn't an O ring when he removed it. All that but it still doesn't want to go into gear, or it's acting like it did somewhat easier not enough to make a difference. I couldn't get the codes checked because it's older and most shops have the OBD II, I would like to get that right away, but today we are going to change out the torque conversion module solenoid . Am I on the right track? Conntinuing saga because I have my original "94"Buick Century that is haveing sensor trouble. Stay tuned I'll return looking for an answer and asking more questions.

Just wondering, what it is when you change from drive to reverse or park..& it kinda shakes & makes a loud sound. (did this ever since i bought it 4 or 5 years ago)...what could that be? i was told motor mounts?
also wondering, how would i know if my transmission might go bad? i dont notice 'slipping' ? or anything really, but was told when i got a transmission flush that it looked like metal shavings or something bad in it...i'm not sure if they said metal shavings, but something like that. all i know is i had never had a flush done before, maybe it just needed one???? thanks, Rachel..p.s i have other questions too :)
How do I remove the drivers side door glass on a 1997 Buick Park Avenue?

The exterior door handle broke. I found one at an autosalvage yard that was a near match but the lath rod didn't line up properly. I'm modifying the latch rod to fit the new handle but need more access. I thought by removing the glass that I would be able to gain free access to the door handle. I've already removed the inside door panel. Any Suggestions? Thank you.

The rear shock on my 2002 Buick Park Avenue just leaked out all the oil. Can I replace this shock with an after market shock? The car has a load leveler system on it hooked up to a compressor located by the rear right fender. I believe an OEM shock is worth something like $700.

If I can replace it with an after market shock - do I need to replace both right and left shocks? Also is this a do it yourself job or do you need special tools? The shock is not inside the spring.

Any help would be appreciated

2002 Buick Park Avenue, replaced rear air struts, OEM about 2 yrs. ago, now getting a thump at every bump in the road. The air compressor works, it still pumps up and shuts off. I emptied the trunk, still thumps over bumps. I checked the spare tire for looseness. Tight. I took it to a dealer, he says its a bad strut. I find it hard to believe since they have misdiagonosed other problems before. However, I drive in D.C. Roads absolutely brutal here.

I have a 1991 Buick Park Avenue and lately it has been making this loud squealing noise whenever I am on the gas. As soon as I hit the breaks and the car comes to a complete stop, the noise goes away. What is likely the problem? And what am I looking at for cost to fix it?

What is an average labor cost for replacing 91 Buick Park Avenue serpentine belt?

My car was making a loud squealing noise whenever accelerating, yet going away when car was at a complete stop. I was advised that I might need to replace a slipping serpentine belt. I've searched around and I know the round about figure for the replacement belt. Now I was wondering what a ballpark figure might be as far as cost for the labor to remove the old worn belt and put the new one on.

Obviously, I'm taking my car to a professional to be certain that this is the issue, but as I don't know the first thing about a car, I don't want to be cheated and overcharged for something that might not be too costly if this in fact what is wrong with my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have more info as to why my cruise control will not work? 2001 Buick Park Avenue.

As posted on the 28th of Aug, I have a cruise control on a 2001 Buick Park Ave that has died s slow death. It started with sometimes engaging and at other times not. When it would engage and small taps were made to increase speed,it would take off like a bat out of hell. I have swapped out the C/C module, changed speed sensor, and the brake swt.(as recommended by Karjunkie), but that fix only lasted 3 days. Battery has been disconnected to, "dump any fault codes", but at present am back where I started, with the C/C completely inop. For the 3 days it did work, several times I tried to inc. speed by "tapping it up, it took off again like a bat out of hell, but with no idea how fast it would go up to.Any more ides out there as to what I could check next?
