I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy auto tranny from Japan that I would like to install in my son's 1995 Legacy. I know they were compatible from 1990-1994, and I have installed the 2.2l motor in the 1995 from an older one. Just wonder if the transmissions are interchangeable as well????

We do not see the info in owners manual. We live in VT and are fully aware that we'll need summer/winters or all-season, but the correct size is the issue. Our used Volvo came with two different tire sizes. The fronts were 185/70R 14, and rears were 195/75R 14s. We do not know which is the recommended size. Please advise.

Hubby found a conterweight type thing attached to the rear brake caliper. I tried researching online looking for photo and info, but to no avail. Does anyone know what this is?

We are missing one on one side, and may need to order, but need to first know what it is called, and it's purpose. Any help greatly appreciated.

I can't remember whether it is Chevy Lumina or else a Malibu that has a station wagon style.

I thought it was just a bad front seal, but the bearing is scored, and I dont want to just put in a new seal if it is going to get eaten by the bearing, so I need the pump changed, can I do it myself?

Trying to find source for a '72 Ford Club Wagon heater core. Ecomony heater core 6"x6". Tank adds 1", high output core won't fit.

I need to replace bad heater core-part not available from ford or standard part houses-they say obolete. Only one available is high output which is over a inch too long. Current one not repairable. Any suggestions on finding replacement core, I have tried local wrecking yards and searched internet, sending emails to many listed suppliers.

I am interested in the V70, but don't know if it's the largest Volvo, I am looking for the Volvo with the most room.

We are currently in a minivan, but am wanting to look into purchasing a Volvo. I am not interested in anything Chevy, GMC, etc. Seems as though that's all you see where I live, and don't want to look like everyone else on the road.

Besides, I always knew one day I was destined to drive a
Volvo, have loved the way they have looked since I was just a child. I so far particularly like the V70's. But don't know if it would give us the room we need, whatever thee model is we need it has to have a 3rd row seat.

My car had appx 90,000 miles when we destroyed the engine by letting it get too low on oil. We replaced it with a used engine with appx 62,000 miles on it. We also had to re-mill and replace the head gasket. It takes a few cranks to start up and when you shift out of park into drive it will kill unless you do it quickly and gas it. It will also die when you come to a stop at a light or stop sign and even when you slow down to turn a corner unless you drop it into neutral and rev it to keep the rpm's up. My mechanic thought it was an electrical connection issue.

'92 Subaru Legacy, 2.2L, non-turbo, 5-speed, 170K. Engine turs over, timing belt not moving but intact. Engine dead?

I have a 92 Subaru Legacy, 2.2L,non-turbo,5-speed. (wife's car).170K miles
Would not start. Had it towed home. At first, I thought it was a Elec problem. Decided to look at the timing belt. I took the two side covers off the timing belt housing. Thinking the timing belt was broken. Belt is intact and has teeth. The engine turns over, and the Alt. belt is turning, but timing belt is not moving, at all.
There are no unusual noises, or burning rubber smells. I'm not sure where to go from here. Is this engine toast? Tapj

I'm going to buy Subaru Outback 2008 and need an advise what modification to choose-2.5 XT turbo or 3L H6. Could anybody explain what is the difference between that engines if HP are almost the same? I prefer 3L, I think it is smoother and more reliable. May be I'm wrong?

1978 fuel pump serial no--580254996---GSP221 This year has an accumulator attached.I am looking for a decent used pump to try to get the wagon running for another while .I have two fuel pumps but they are from later years--There are other problems with this vehicle so I thought someone out there with a junked car could help me get this part to start with--thanks for any advice brian

This morning my 2000 V70 stopped working! It was driving when it broke down...below is a list of symptoms that occured. At first we thought it was transmission, but the tow-truck driver said he thinks its a broken cable...every one I have talked to says tranmission...based on whats below could any one give me a better idea of what may be wrong and how much it will cost to repair?

Symptoms:
1)Turns on fine-sounds normal
2)When you push the shift selector into any gear, Reverse, Neutral, or any Drive gear, it sounds like spoons in a blender. I didn't try to push the gas, so I'm not sure what happens if the gas is pushed.
3)When you move it back to Park it still makes the noise
4)The lock on the gears isn't engaging when the car is turned off... if the emergency brake isn't up, then you could push the car away.
5) This all happened while pulling out of a store. There is no presence of fluid inside the engine or on the ground.
6) Doubtful it is oil related- but we had the oil changed 2 wks ago.
7) The tow-truck driver suggested it was a wire that may go to the drive shaft or shifter or somewhere I don't know about...
8) To my knowledge, prior to this, we didn't have any problems with the transmission slipping, hesitating, jerking, etc...seemed to run well.

the serpentine belt on my 2002 focus wagon was getting quite noisy (the suealing at start-up or when the AC is used) so i changed it a couple of weeks ago....thing is, a few days later it started chirping again...only at start up and for a few seconds until the engine gets to idling speed and then stops. what could it be now???

I get infinite resistance between terminals 1 and 2 and 2 and 4 on the terminal connectors and I am expecting 6.5 to 13 ohms. Does this indicate failure? Where exactly do I need to place the wires and do I need an extra sensitive ohm meter? I would expect it to read no resistance rather than infinite resitance...
The secondary resistance test of the coil towers passes,the resistance measuring as it is supposed to. Does the 2000 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited edition have the same ignition coil as others of its engine class?

Just bought a 2008 Subaru Impreza, and the front seat hurts my back. Is there a way to replace the seat?

Our car was running rough, and the dealer replaced the coil and plug on cylinder 5. We went to pick it up, and it was still running rough. (We didn't even get out of the lot with it.) Now they want to replace the coil on cylinder 6. Apparently it died when we turned the key to drive off the lot, since they report that there were no problems on their test drive.

We have a history of coming away from our dealer with some complaint after a repair ("Isn't the car running rougher now?" "Gee, it never made that noise before." "Hey! The alarm's not working right." -- little things like that.) So we're not convinced that this job was done properly. The question we have is -- should we chalk this up to an unfortunate coincidence? Or could the new problem be related to the work just done?

I'm not trying to be a difficult customer -- just an educated one. Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me.

I've leased at least 4 other volvo wagons (v70 and xc70). Want to purchase my lease for economic reasons. My local car repair guys tell me Volvo repairs will put me in the poor house and rec I buy Honda or Toyota. Liked the CRV but found the trunk very inefficient (cant get golf bags in horizontally, no cargo net option to separate cargo from passanger area. So after weeeks of looking at everything out there, think I'll buy my safe, fuel inefficient, family wagon. (So very few viable wagons out there). Jetta dealer very inconvenient and hear they have lots of electrical problems. Thanks for your input folks.

Took my 2005 V70 with 47k miles to dealer for routine service appt. Had only been serviced by dealer previously. Drove home, parked in garage. Next time drove car few days later, fire broke out in engine and car was total loss. Both dealer & Volvo deny any responsibility or fault. Anyone else had an experience like this?

Subaru Outback XT electrical problems?

I have an 05 Outback XT that has been having an odd electrical problem - when it is cold outside and I start my car, the interior illumination changes - showing the setting on the tripometer (i.e., "ill.5" to "ill.6") and it obviously changes the interior lighting, appearing as a flickering between two settings. The car is still pretty new, but out of the 36K warranty, so I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what the resolve was. I am worried about an expensive repair for an impossible electrical problem that the dealership will find "difficult to replicate".

Engine died and when it died, it wouldn't start - the engine just shuddered like it wanted to start but couldn't. Not sure what exactly happened. Something internal with the pistons I was told. Can I get it rebuilt? Where in Maryland are there Subaru specialists? Looking for the most inexpensive option. Just purchased used, no warranty & it died shortly after purchase.

I love the body style of the Dodge Magnum wagon, but I need 3rd row seating of any kind otherwise I will just buy a sedan. The Volvo wagon has a 3rd row jump seat which can be laid down for storage, but I think it's ugly. That's exactly what I need is the 3rd row jump seat. Is it optional at least on any of the Dodge Magnums?

I need a car manual for my 2002 Impreza that I just bought. But Chilton and Hayes do not make one. Does anyone know why this is or if I could use a different Chilton such as the 2002 Subaru outback in replace of one?

'93 Toyota Land Cruiser automatic. No reverse or 1st and 2nd at running temp, only drive (3rd). While cold all fine, but a slow into reverse.

80 series auto landcruiser, '93 284,000kms. While cold can select all gears, but a little slow into reverse. When at running temp, there is no rev, 1st or 2nd selection, goes straight into drive mode. After letting it sit for awhile all selections are possible, any ideas.

A few months back my 02 Legacy's main fuse blew...I think the same thing happened again. There is no power at all in the car (the odometer and clock are totally dead). I think it may be the same thing--however when I looked at the main fuse there is NO visual conformation (i.e there is no black markings from a electrical discharge). Is it possible for the fuse to blow and not show these visual markings?
