The difference between RON and Octane

For cars that recommend 95 RON fuel or minimum 93 RON, is that equivalent to 93 Octand and 91 Octane respectively?<br><br>Could someone please define RON and how Octane ratings are derived? Why does CA only go up to 91 octane for premium gas? I remember back in the day they had 92 Octane as premium, and in other states I do believe I've still seen 93 as premium. What gives?

Fuel cap and persistent check enine light error, 2008 Honda Civic LX

Hi bought a new 208 honda civic in November, recently I got a check fuel cap error, of course I did and its fine. Then the check engine light came on so i went to the dealership. The error code indicated a vapor leak, but they could not find one and reset it. Then a few day later I get the check fuel cap error and then the check engine light. So I again return to the dealership, again the error code says &quot;SMALL EVAP LEAK DETECTED&quot; and they ordered parts i.e. EVAP CONTROL CANISTER, so I returned to have them install this and the test indicated it was all normal. So I then go along and you guessed it this weekend I get the check fuel cap error and then the check engine light. So now I am back having to go to the dealership, it is a pain in the behind for sure. I note that it seems to happen about 2 days after I have filled up the car and I always check the gas cap to see if its on properly, any one have any suggestions??

Pretty sure it wasn't when I left it. I added 5 gallons and the gas gauge never moved. Can it have anything to do with the whole fuel system? Fuel pump? Fuel relay? Please help...

I have a problem with engine bucking and poor performance that will come and go. Engine starts fine hot or cold no stalling. The engine bucking is more noticeable when the A/C is on; however, it will smooth out then come back and the can be said for the performance issue. I have tried to follow a sequence of operation to diagnose and found the only clue is it starts to happen when the engine reaches operating temperature. I have replaced the MAP Sensor and it made a marginal improvement. I am now down to the IAC or the MAF sensors or the PCM.<br>Any suggestions?

Fuel line problem when pumping gas.

When pumping gas, the gas nozzle clicks off when the tank is not full. It clicks off about every 2 seconds. Could there be an obstruction in the &quot;neck&quot; of the fuel line between the cap and the tank? I noticed gasoline coming to the top of the line when I have the gas nozzle pulled nearly all the way out.<br> <br>Is using a coat hanger or plumbing snake safe to use? I'm worried about a spark!<br><br>Also, Cannot remember if there was a metal &quot;valve&quot; just under the cap. If there was, it's not there now. Could that have fallen off and be lodged in the neck?

Edelbrock Carb. Gas pouring out top.

I have an Edelbrock 600 on my old 305 Chevy. Had this carb on for 8 years and has always purred like a kitty. Yesterday I was accelerating around an inclined turn (live in the ozarks), and I put my foot into it to shift down to second (350 turbo trani), and it acted like I ran out of gas, and died. After closer examination, when you turn it over, gas sqirts our of two holes out of the top of the carb. One hole on left and one on right. Comes out pretty heavy and just runs out onto manifold. You think my float is stuck? Any suggestions as to where I should start would be much appreciated. Thanks-John

Do some or certain Jaguar engines suffer from excessive turnover before starting?

Having read a number of questions submitted, I've noticed that several mentioned the engine turning over excessively before starting. Is this peculiar to the breed/engine? Like some of those mentioned, I've changed the fuel filter, in my case there were two, one in the trunk area, the other in the engine bay.Didn't make any difference.
