I don't trust my local Lexus dealer to have put synthetic oil in the car-as I requested. I was BS'd by the Service Adviser on other issues.

I head about an additive, developed by NASA, marketed as an engine treatment called Motor Silk. Is it any good?

I'm hearing about an additive that was developed by NASA and is marketed as an engine treatment which can reduce repairs by 85% and increase gas mileage by up to 20%. It's called Motor Silk. It comes in a kit to treat the engine, transmission and fuel system. It is suposed to treat the metal and last for 100K miles.
My local dealers service manager has never heard of it. Have you any knowledge of it, its performance or its honesty in the claims made?

Belle Tire only sells Amsoil synthetic motor oil as they tell me it is the only 100% synthetic motor oil and the rest are only 90% synthetic. Is this true? For a 5 quart Amsoil synthetic oil change they charge $79.95.

my friend took her car to get the oil changed. They left the oil cap off. So there was a mess under her hood. She went back they put another oil cap on, but it wasn't the right one for her car. So the cap still had a leak. So they ordered her the right cap she hasn't got it yet. So in the mean time. The oil got on her belt and messed the belt up. The dealer ship said the oil leak would have not cause this. She had no problem to they changed her oil then everything went wrong. The belt ended up shredding and caused the car to run hot, power steering quit.

Oil cap fell in differential.

I was changing the differential oil through the fill plug. I was going to fill it and the plug for the bottle of oil cap fell inside. I tried to open the diff but couldn't. Is it fine to keep it in there? I drove it a few miles and it seems fine.

I may have out too much gear oil in my front differential, it already has a leak. Should I drain the excess?

The front differential has a leak where the drive shaft enters so I have to fill the axle every so often, I just put some in and it came pouring out as soon as I removed the tube I was using to fill it. Should I let it drain some, or just let it go until it's time to fill again?

If you change over to Mobil 1 do you need to continue using Mobil 1 at next oil and filter change?

I just can not find it nowhere so I called Pennzoil if they still produce it. They said yes but were not able to tell me where exactly I can buy it. I also called to every single auto parts store in my area but nobody has it.... I check online but just find either diesel one, 5W40 or not European formula.... I am looking just for this specific oil.... I would really appreciate any advice.... (My ZIp is 01915)

the leak is only dark black and its dripping about the middle of the back of the engine towards drivers side fender wondering if it could be a o ring that someone told me gm uses in a hole where the distributor used to go or if its the intake gasket

Had intake manifold gasket changed and since then low oil pressure indicator alarm goes off when I slow to stop. Increasing RPMs, alarm goes off. Checked oil level and it is OK. Had oil chaged. Van has 114,000 miles. Does not do it all the time.

I have alwys changed the oil on my cars at 3000 miles. The dealer says that on my new 2007 Civic it is a waste. I should do it at 5000. My local oil change place tells me that Honda wants you to wait so you will develop future engine pblms for them to repair - but does the oil chage place want more business from me.
