manual just shows where it is on the outside of car, no instructions. I can tell it can't be replaced from the outside. Difficult to tell how to do it from inside. Removed thin insulated cloth, lights are covered by a piece of metal. Do I somehow remove that piece to get to the bulb?

Saturn Astra 2000. I took off brake switch from top pedal. Brake light stuck on. Switch is not working.

i have a Astra from 2000 and the rear brake is stake on. i take off brake switch from the top of the brake pedal and the light stay on, i take to a garage and they disconnect the switch for now but the light stay on.

The driver's side brake light is burnt out & I have NO clue how to access the bulb to replace it. I even went as far as to open up the molding in the back of the truck & still had no luck.

The parking lights come on when the brakes are applied and the headllights are off. When the headlights are turned on, the third brake light comes on and brightens when the brakes are applied. I don't know if the left and right brakes lights are on or not. The transmission was rebuilt just before this problem started. Could there be a connection between the two? OR could it be in the light switch? Any help will be appreciated.

how do I replace the drivers side rear brake light, everything seems sealed . I older cars you could take the lens off or come in the rear thro the trunk . However I cannot take the lens off? The location for the lights in the trunk seems to be sealed? all there is a wire going into the middle , at the back, of the lens, do I pull that wire out ? .

I own a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (Special Edition). When i brake with my all my lights on, the brake light on the driver side goes out. I tried to change the bulb and it did the same thing. When removing the bulb it did look burned out? Not sure what to do? Someone at Jeep suggested changing out the whole light piece all together but seems extreme because only one little light malfunctioning.?

Please help. my brake light will not work on my 2002 Pontiac Grand prix GT. I had the fuses an blubs check they are fine. All my others lights work I have been reading on the internet that the multifuction switch are bad in these makes an model an GM never had a recall. So can anyone tell me how to change the switch (cost $289.00) and how to undo the air bags. Or if it could be something else wrong. I did notice the hazzard button is stuck as along with the keys sometimes. I would love any info anyone could give me on this matter. Thanks

The brake lights on my 98 Mitsubishi Montero Sport LS are out. All of them. I thought it might be the fuse but I checked and the fuse is ok as well as the bulbs. What might be causing this? I read somewhere that I could check a button on the brake pedal that might not be engaged but I have looked and looked and not found the "button" Can anyone shed some light on what it might be?

The owners manual tells how to change every light there is in the Sonata except the brake light in the back window. It is a 2006 Sonata. My father in law has a 2008 and his manual does not tell how to replace it either. I even went to a Hyundai Dealership and had 3 techs trying to get to it. They climbed in the trunk with spotlights then tried to pop the plastic cover off but still could not access it. After about 30 minutes, they gave up and could only say "I don't know." Does anyone know how to do this?

I have a 1996 Blazer, and my 3rd brake light does not light up when i hit the brakes. The regular brake lights work fine, but the top one does not. I took it apart, and the bulbs look fine, no black marks or anything like that. The wire runs underneath my ceiling inside. I looked at the fuse box, and they are all filled and good, i also looked in the glovebox for the relays, but all i saw was 3 new-looking boxes, they looked good, too, but i didnt know what to look for. Any help would be helpful.

There are 4 studs, 3 of which have nuts on them that I can remove. On the 4th stud is a plastic cap of some type that I can not seem to remove. I have tried twisting it, pulling it and squeezing in the sides hoping to unlock it, but still can't get it off. Mazda wants $40.00 to change out my brake light bulb....can't see that happening. Hope that someone can help me!

We have purchased a used '01 Mazda Protege LX 2.0 and are missing the 3rd brake light assembly. We have the "shell" of the light, which was left in the trunk, but the "guts" are missing. I also do not have the owner's manual for this model. Can you help me locate 1) the assembly and 2) the owner's manual? There is a wire sticking up where the light gets attached to the back, but without the manual, I have no idea of what else I might be missing. The is no place to screw or pop in the bulb. The Mazda site was of no help. Thanks.

We have changed all bulbs, and all fuses we can find. Are there any in line fuses we are missing? The only lifghts working on the back of car are the flashers and the reverse lights. But the tail lights and brake lights will not work. The brake light in the back window doesn't work either. Please help.

I saw that you had asked about this back in Feb. I'm having the exact same issue: other brake lights work, fuse looks good, contacts at light look good, but the center light doesn't appear to be getting any juice. How did you get it resolved?

There is NO access to any of the bulbs from the trunk.The whole light assembly has to be removed from the car and I am afraid to pry on something and break it. I would like to know how to take the light assembly off the car without tearing it to pieces.
I was an auto mechanic for over 25 years and things have sure changed over the years.

When I press on the brakes the brake lights do not go on, although the turn signals, hazards and parking lights all work normally. My third light also does not seem to be functioning when I press on the brakes. All the fuses are just fine. I have recently replaced the brake/parking bulbs but that isn't the problem. This has happened in the past but only for a day of two then the brake lights would work as they should for another few weeks.

I also have been having problems with my shift lock not disengaging when I press on the brake, I am not sure if the two are related or not.

I have a 1996 chevy lumina. The re brake lights will not work. I have the rear window light , but not the lower brake lights. I have replaced the switch under the brake pedal and that did not help. My side running lights are working but not the brake lights. Can I bypass the original system and wire-up something to make them work? I got a fix-it ticket and need to get them done before Wednesday August 12th.

If I use the hazard flashers or bother the swithch on my 99 Yukon XL, the brake lights won't work. I keep a piece of paper next to the switch to keep the brake lights working properly. Also, there are times when I try to start the engine and it turns over, but will not start. It acts like I have turned it off. If I move the hazard switch it seems to work but then it may or may not affect the brake lights. Could this be just a wire shorting out in the steering column or a problem in the main fuse box under the hood? When I apply pressure on the brake i hear a click noise also. The other day I shut the engine off and after I had the key out I heard several clicking noises and then one louder one. I havent taken it to a dealership yet, was hoping to find some input here. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

My light came on about lights being out on the rear of the car. I checked and both of the tail lights were out. I checked both the fuse box under the hood and the one under the little cover to the left of the steering wheel but could not find a marking for tag lights and took some of the fuses out but none seemed to be bad?

How do I get to the left burned out brake taillight bulb from either inside the trunk or from the outside? My Saturn Service Technical Advisor said that I should just unbolt 3 nut heads inside the trunk on the rear left side. The 3 bolts and nut heads are supposed to hold this taillight section in place, but when I removed the nut heads nothing became loose for me to get to the burned out bulb. Suggestions please, because I don't want to go to the Dealership and pay their labour rate to replace this burned out brake taillight which I should be able to change myself.

My 1994 Ford Explorer's driver's side brake/tail light is out. Fuse problem? I have no owner's manual. Thank you!

I have noticed that the turn indicator works only sometimes when going to the left, so I have to use it manually, or hand signal the turn - could this be related to the brake/tail light being out on the left side ?? As I have no manual. I'm not sure if this is a bulb or fuse problem. Thank You !!
