Is there a way to take off the yellow haze off of headlights?

i know there has got to be a good solution to taking off the yellowish residue on my headlight and buying new headlights are just too expensive. anyone know a good solution?

My headlights would not automatically come on at night and I would have to flicker my dim switch (bright light) for them to come on. Weeks later they just stopped working - well very seldom. I have to hold my bright light switch while driving at night which is not GOOD. Any Ideas to what may be causing my Baby MC this PAIN.

I had a broken (burned) copper line inside my headlight switch, so I replaced it with another switch and I'am still having the same problem - lights come on during the day time only when I put car in gear and not at night with dash reading headlights suggested. Headlights not working when I turn them on using switch.

Please tell me how to change my ordinary white side lights for new blue bulbs. I just cant get the old ones out.

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Both low beam lights stopped working. High beams still work. Dealer diagnosed as faulty body control module. At an installed cost of $900 which included the diagnostic, I will probably obtain a used body control module that I've located. Is it easy to install?

On my way home the other night I stopped by my Mother's house automatic lights working, was in there about 30 45 minutes came out started vehicle, no lights at all. I have always had automatic running lights on at all times daylight or dark. Now the only way I can get headlights is if I pull back on the turn signal arm and hold it there while I drive.

it does not look very simple to get to the head light assembly to replace the bulb.. just looking for any advice or do I need to have a shop replace.

The bulb cost $80 bucks and I have 208K miles on the car so trying to keep the cost to replace down.

two retaining clips by pushing them up and slide the assembly out in order to change the bulb. What is the air baffle?

I have purchased a vehicle off an auction and will be moving it back to B.C Canada. I realized last minute that there are no daytime running minutes and need to get them either activated or installed. There are two L shaped clips that can be pulled up about 3/4" behind the Headlight assembly ... Do these help to remove the Assembly so you can remove the bulb ? I pulled them up but it didn't seem to loosen the housing at all. I don't want to break the housing.

1989 Volvo 740 GLE (8 valve). First thing in the morning (with light switch usually already on), start the car, no lights - head, tail, dash. Turn off key, sometimes, flip light switch off/on - sometimes, and they usually come on. One time where the lights did not automatically turn off when the car was turned off (this has happened once). Also, one morning (not very cold temp outside, but a bit "brisk") the lights would not turn on, then they would, but only on the middle - running lights - position of the switch, but everything off when put in the full on setting.

I love this car, and she usually "heals up in the sun" on most issues (at least 'til I can get around to fixing them). Hep me, hep me.

My daughter owns a 1999 Grand Prix. Recently one evening she got in her car uptown and her headlights wouldn't turn on. During the day we have her daytime lights, but when we try to turn on her regular headlights the daytime lights go out and her headlights won't turn on at all. We had the same problem with the other headlight a couple weeks ago and paid a repair shop $108 to repair it. We'd like to take care of the problem ourselves if possible, or at least begin to diagnose it.

Always when I put the brights on my Buick Century, all the lights go out. Dim lights return only. $600 fix. Recalls maybe?

About six times at night the lights went off. Switch for brights would bring them back on again. It only happened when they were on brights. Now every time I try to put on brights they come on when I pull switch toward me, but when I let it go all the lights go off. Pulling the switch forward again and letting go of it will bring the dims back on only. I was told the switch is the problem. $600 to repair. Others have this problem I see. Has there ever been a recall? I have a Buick Centry 2002.

Low beams went out, high beams work as well as the fog lamps. I doubt both headlamps blew at the same time... I am pretty handy but this one has me stumped. Any thoughts?

I have a 2001 Suburban. Over past month, at night, sporadically the dim headlamps will not turn on, no matter if switch is on auto or manual. But bright lamps always work fine. During daytime, dim headlights appear to work fine. Have checked bulbs and relay switches and they are fine. Dealer cannot fix because lights work fine when I drop off the car there.

A shop fixed some wiring for me, but to get at the headlight bulb they took out the retaining clip completely instead of just swinging it out of the way. Now I can't figure out how to replace it. Any tips?

They removed the retaining clips on both sides, so I can't look at one installed correctly to see how to do it. I'd really love it if anyone could post a picture of what it should look like when installed, then I could figure it out from there. Thanks!

My wife crunched the headlight cover on the driver's side of my 1995 Chevrolet Lumina. She bought the replacement part, but I do not know how to replace it. It has a couple of rather odd screws and some screws that I can not even see.

You responded to my question yesterday. The noise is definately from the right headlight. It begins as soon as I switch the lights on and stops if I switch them off. The noise is louder the colder the weather.

Followed your suggestion. The noise appears to come from under the window washer container. More precise description of the sound would be a dry ratchety noise. Only appears when the lights get turned on regardless of park, main or fog. Left hand does not make the noise but I havent replaced the blown bulb yet (heard you have to take the bumper off for this) park, fog and brights on left work though without the noise.

Ok. It needs a service so I will book today (normally one - two week wait) and we shall find out exactly what it is and how close you were. Somebody said last night it may be the ratchet in the headlight that needs replacing. Are there ratchets in the headlight? I thought it was just connected by wires. And the noise doesnt seem to come from the headlight anyway. Watch this space in approx 2 weeks for the final verdict. (but if you think of anything else - please let me know)

The mystery is over. My son took it into an Auto Electrician. Its the whatever you call it that adjusts the height of my headlights that has stripped and making the noise. Dont know if its an expensive piece of equipment or not but at least I know the cars not going to blow up anymore. Thanks for your interest and suggestions.
