I would like to remove the upfitter switch panel from the dash without causing damage in order to make some new connections. I can see that the plastic housing is secured very tightly into the dash unit.

Is there an "easy" or correct way to pop out this small panel in order to access the switch connections? ? ? ?

I have tried to remove the cup holder below the switch panel but it too is quite securely fastened.

How do I remove the screw that holds the dash located above the gauges? I turn it both ways and it doesn't come out.

We are trying to change the stero, but that part of the dash has a screw right above the gauges and no matter which way I turn it doesn't appear to loosen anything. Its like it is striped on the bolt or whatever it is attached to. I am wondering if there is a trick to removing this one screw. It appears to be the only thing holding the dash from coming off...I have all the corners and sides popped of except this one that the screw appears to be holding up top. How can I get it off. I am tempted to drill a hole in the top of my dash to see what is holding it.

I've had my car for 6 years and the dash is sticky. Dealership asked if my car is parked in the sun. My reaction is that the sun shouldn't have anything to do with a deteriorating dash, especially on a Lexus! It's off warranty, but I was told they would have changed it if I had brought it in sooner. BUT, they checked with ALL their sales offices nationally and in Japan. They said that I seem to be the only one with this problem since no one has ever complained about a deteriorating dash. Could this be true?

Have 2000 Chrysler LHS. The clock in the center dash has stopped working. Fuses are all good. Suggestions?

The clock in the center dash has stopped working. It is not digital. Assumed it was connected to a fuse issue. Can not find that the clock is connected to electrical nor are any fuses blown.
No info in owners manual.

The cup holder is a push in located in the centre of the front dash just above the radio. The springs broke and the handles that hold the cup have broken off. We have a replacement but we are not sure how to get the old old out.

i got the car with the lock&handle missing from the glovebox and bought a new one to replace it.i got the old one open but not all the way off.it is still held on by the 2 hinges at the bottom of the inside face of the glovebox,i have taken out the three screws at the bottom outside of the box and3 inside the box at the top what else do i need to do????any help would be appreciated thanks and i will wait to hear...

the 2 parts of the lid are broke and i am looking to replace them. i wouldn't mind if i could find something to fit in there that doesn't have a compartment i just want something to look nice. paint color doesn't matter because i have repainted my console so i can always paint the parts.

I have a 2005 300C AWD and I have aproblem of a buzz/whine that appears to be coming from the dashboard. The origin is hard to localize. I have ruled out air leak around the windshield and the sort. Removed the cowl and the windshield wipers and still have the noise. The noise appears at speeds from 75 mph to 100 mphs and then continues at higher speeds. The dealership will not touch it because they will not test above the legal speed limit. Almost seems that it is sensitive to head wind but not sure. Could it be the speedometer? Is it mechanical? The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with the climate control system and that their is nothing mechanical in the dashboard. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I occasionally get a noise coming from the dashboard of my 05 Nissan Pathfinder when it is between 70 and 80mph. The noise sounds like a buzzing noise just like the racecar simulator game makes when one fishtail. Any ideas? This noise drives me crazy especially on long haul.

I have a 93 Lincoln Town Car. The digitial display in the dash went completely black recently. Is this an easy fix?

i was driving a couple weeks ago, some dinging buzzer went off and then the whole display went black. nothing lights up now. the headlights still work and all, its just the inside display, the "message center". i just want to know if this is some kind of wiring issue or something easy i could fix or if this is something i will need to bring to a mechanic.

I have a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The dash just cracked from the defroster vent to front, right in the middle. Anyone else?

The dash cracked from the defroster vent to the front, Chrysler dealer said they never saw this before. A friend said he saw something on the TV news about PT's & another car having dash problems. Anyone else have this problem? I only have 44,860 miles & garage keep & when out used sun screen to cover windshield. Hard to understand why this happened.

I bought a phone holder from verizon wireless, the instruction said to clean the surface with the alcohol pad that came with it. but as soom as the alcohol pad touch the dashboard surface it instintly lift the paint right off the dashboard, and now no one want to fis it. help please.

I turn the key on and this very loud tapping is coming from the black "box" under the glove box. If the truck warms up a bit, I turn it off and it quits. Just started suddenly. My last Silverado was a 1983 and didn't have the equipment that this one does, so I have no idea what the heck it is let alone how to get the noise to stop or what to replace. Anyone have any ideas?

A credit card fell into the cup holder. It's a sealed rectangular
box in the console. I already removed it once, and saw that there
is no access through the back. Therefore, I would like to know
how to take the front of it out. I don't want to break the clips.
Could someone tell me where they are located, and how to remove
just the cup holder without breaking them? I can no longer close
the cup holder, because the credit card is stuck in there. Thanks

Removal of interior trim panel?

I want to remove the center trim panel which surrounds the radio A/C. radio. temp controls, etc.
I do not see any obvious fasteners and do not want to pry it off without first making certain of the design.
This piece is in the very center of the dash and I believe is always black in color.

I own a 2006 Kia Sorento. My CD player reads cd-in. When I press the cd eject - it says "no cd." What can I do?

I own a 1996 Subaru Legacy. I was driving today and the car starting clicking 5 times, then pause, click 5 times, pause, etc. The clicking sounded like it came from inside of the car underneath the dash about where the driver's knees are located. This went on for about 10 minutes then stopped. Has not done it again. Car never did stop running. I ran a diagnostic's and no codes appeared. Car temperature gauge stayed halfway during this clicking noise. Engine oil is good. Antifreeze level is good. Car ran very good on the way home. Any ideas? Thanks.

I like most things about my 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. A big drawback, however, is the cupholders for the driver and passenger. They are little tiny recepticles built into the ashtray assembly. Pull out the ashtray drawer, and there are the little retainers for your shot-glass sized coffee cups. Drawbacks: too small. splash drops of coffee on the clock and etc in front of them.

OK, so I bought a $9 plastic console, like i have had in my previous cars. It is intended to be screwed securely onto the center hump, by the driver's right knee. Fair enough. But it is too big for that. OK, so since i am not a smoker anyway, it would be nice if I could remove that whole ashtray assembly and give the console some headroom. That is similar to what I did years ago on a car (think it was my 1983 Olds Cutlass Ciera).

But I am missing something. There has to be a fairly easy way to pull the ashtray assembly out and put it in my junk closet where it belongs, thus providing room for my $9 console on the center hump. But I can't see a good way to get the ashtray assembly out.

Any ideas?

I need to take off the instrument panel lower center cover so i can replace the broken ashtray. Can't figure out if the gear shift and other adjacent parts have to come off first and how to accomplish this without breaking some other plastic piece.

My 2005 Jeep Laredo has developed a noise in the dash and it sounds like it is on the passenger side. The dealership has no idea what it is nor does anyone else.

I can hear it well at about 35mph and the sound gets louder with more speed. To describe how it sounds would be to say like a bumble bee or blowing on a piece of thin paper.

When I first noticed it was shortly after hearing a louder noise much like something being loose and rattling and that went on for about a month then it switched to this sound and has continued.

Sometimes I can drive about 30 miles and hear nothing then suddenly the noise is there and loud and almost ear piercing in sound at times. My Jeep has had regular maintenance and has had a good bill of health so far.

It has 84,000 miles on it and I drive it daily 100 miles round trip to and from work. I recently put new tires on it just to eliminate any possibility there. Maybe someone out there has had or still has a similar problem. Would appreciate suggestions and/or solutions.

What could be causing an annoying squealing noise at 40-45mph coming from under the dash? 2001 Acura TL.

I have a squealing noise that is definitely coming from under the dash, not the engine compartment. The noise sounds somewhat like slowly letting the air out of a balloon. It only occurs between 40-45 MPH from spring-summer. Only occurs sometimes at around 50 MPH during winter. Behavior does not change with climate control on or off, nor with transmission in neutral and varying the RPMs.

My guess is its a vacuum hose or some type of vacuum or air control valve under the dash. Anyone have an idea what might be causing the noise and how to isolate or fix it?

I have a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The driver's side vent makes annoying rattling noises that distract me while driving. I need to remove the vent, put some kind of a soft material between the vent and the dash, and put the vent back on.

Does anyone know how I can remove the driver's side vent?

I don't see any screws or other fasteners on or around the vent.

ps. I took the car to the Toyota dealership. They removed the vent in an attempt to fix this problem. They ended up making the problem much worse.

I am trying to avoid a very inconvenient trip to the dealer just to get an answer to a simple question.

I have just purchased a 2009 RAV4 Limited V6. My problem is that both the upper and lower LCD displays are too dimly lit to read. To make myself clear, I am speaking about the black-and-white LCD displays in the center of the dash board, between the driver and passenger. The displays provide information about the radio, CD, temperature settings, and other things.

My problem is that the displays are just too dimly lit to read; especially in daylight. Is this normal or is this abnormal?

There is a dim back light, and it is affected by the dash light dimmer switch, but it never gets bright enough to read.

I called the service department and asked this question, but they wanted me to schedule an appointment. (I'm sure you all can understand how time consuming that can - especially if you live a long way from the dealer.

Is this just the best it can be? Or, is it something that can be fixed?
What do your LCD displays look like?
