Why does SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM light come up in my 98 Cadillac STS?

The car only has 70,000 miles on it. When the service suspension system message started to show up, I figured out that my front tire had a slow leak. After putting the correct air pressure in all tires the message went away. Now that won't work. I have read other posts that say to have the codes reset. Must I have codes cleared at the dealership? I think if the codes were cleared I could go from there.

I asked a friend at the local delaership who told me how to get the codes off the car to see what was wrong. The codes were RSS1736current and RSS1738current. The dealership told me I needed to replace the right front strut. I purchased one from a Cadi recycling place and had my personal mechanic replace it. He did, and I still get the same messages and error codes. I don't have a lot of money and I'm really upset.
I have a 97 Cad STS w/140k mi. The dealer cannot determine the cause of the service engine #7 misfire code. The engine does run rough when at idle but smooths out above 1000 rpm. The service engine light occasionally goes off during highway driving but comes back on at a stop light. The plugs, wires, injectors and coils have been replaced, They also did a carbon cleaning. I use only premium gas. Any help determining the cause would be appreciated.

Recently purchased 2000 STS, ran well first few days on short trips. Heater worked great. First trip of about 40 miles, temp guage rose and message to idle engine and turn a/c off. Immediately cooled down. Did this again and took to garage. Replaced thermostat, water pump and flushed and replaced coolant. Fans work, coolant not leaking, hoses cool but still states overheating and now heater has quit putting out heat. Has never went into limp mode. Help, please.

Thanks for the tire answer for the '02 STS. The originals were Eagle LS I think. Bought it used and the previous owner replaced the front ones only with Eagle GT HR 16".Those have 8000+/-, and the originals on the rear have 33000+. Should I replace all? You do not recommend Good Years , but Michelins, the MXV4? Any idea where I can get the pinstripe with the Cadillac logo/crest. Thanks a lot.

Came on while I was driving twice in a row today, both times it made my car significantly slow down, as if I was braking. Then the Service Engine Soon light popped on. Does anyone know what could be causing this?? Maybe damage to the stabilizer bar?? I JUST had my front frame and motor mount replaced...could this have something to do with it??? Any help would be greatly appreciated..Thank you

My 97 Cad STS is intermittently overheating. Driving about 60mph the temp gage will rise quickly, as soon as I slow down the temperature starts to drop slowly to normal. My mechanic recently replaced the radiator and flushed the system for a coolant leak and tightened some heater hoses that were leaking. There is evidence of radiator fluid around the overflow cap. No leaks show up using the pressure test. I think the thermostat might be closing or sticking while I'm driving. Is changing the thermostat the next step? Should I replace the water pump.

Anyone having climate control issues with 2008 Cadillac STS?

My husband and I bought a new 2008 STS in Feb of 2008. 5 months later we started having problems with the climate control. We have taken the car back 5 times with the same problem. The fifth time, we told the Dealer they could keep the car.

On the 4th time that we took the car back they really thought they had fixed the problem - supposedly it was the actuator. However after 2 months the problem started up again. My car has been in their possession for a total of 50 days (4 service trips). This fifth time, they worked on the car again and replaced the actuator again.

We contacted GM and requested that they replace the car - based on the lemon law. GM came back and said, since it was not a safety issue that the lemon law did not apply. Does anyone know anything about the lemon law? I am in the state of Oklahoma. The little I've read indicates that it can be a safety, or value issue.

I have a 2000 STS, two questions

1. Sometime I think my drivers seat has a mind of its own. Sometimes getting in or out the seat will go all the way forward and it doesn't remember settings anymore.....

2. My hvac blower motor stopped functioning, the next day it was like nothing ever happened no noises were ever heard. I've been a motorcycle tech for years. On and off 20+ this Cadillac is its own breed by far! My Chilton book only takes you around the block. The blower did it again, so I disassembled it found nothing and it works again. Is there a module or something. maybe the selector switch? All fuses are good by the way and compressor is working... Help me please...I might make Cadillac tech yet? It is a challenge to me, with double complexity...... thanx in advance... Dean

Caddy STS brake light functions when activating keyless entry but for the life of me I can't understand why it wont operate when I use my brakes.

The light is on for normal lighting use...the rear center strip light works on the trunk as well as the passenger light when braking, but not the drivers left brake light when pressing the brake pedal. Only the 2 out of 3 work engaging the pedal. The keyless remote works all lights. I have no brake fuse to replace. Checked the bulb, appears fine... I don't know what else to check or what could be causing this.

I have checked the bulb...looks good. I looked for the fuse regarding brakes...doesn't seem to be one listed. What could be causing it to short with the brake system? If it were a ground I would think the keyless entry wouldn't work it either.

Desperate for answers. Doesn't make sense to me.

I have read on Edmunds that the 2008 CTS AWD is transplanted from the STS; there are no details to the level of transplant. Is the AWD system in the CTS (either generation) using the actual subframe from the STS or just all of the suspension and steering components from the STS?
I would like to use the CTS subframe in my STS to transplant a LS motor in it since it has a configuration and front-steering linkage that would accommodate a rear sump pan that the rear-steering configuration presents some interesting issues for me. Thanks
I'm getting ready to trade my '05 Lexus RX 330 for something else. I'm open to another Lexus, likely the ES350. However, I'm also considering the Audi A6 and Cadillac STS. I'm a middle-age woman who does mostly in-town driving and trips of no longer than 300 miles round trip a few times a year. My history has been several Chrysler T&C minivans, a Surburban, an Expedition and now the RX. Finally ready for a sedan, I think.
What's the opinion out there, Audi folks? Thanks.
