I recently bought an 07 Avalanche. LOVE LOVE LOVE it! One problem has occured. There have been three bolts on the right rear wheel shear off. The dealer says "over torquing" is the problem. MY problem is this is not something I caused. The vehicle was purchased this way. Has anyone out there experienced this problem? I'll be anxious to find out.

The older Stereo appears to mount differently, but looks to be almost the same size, remounting isn't an issue, as much as the wiring harness?

How do I remove the spare tire on a 2006 Chevy Avalanche equipped with a secondary latching system?

Over the weekend I had a flat tire on my 06 Avalanche. The down side of that is I spent 2 hours on the expressway shoulder trying to figure out how to lower my spare tire to the ground. I read the manual and followed the directions step by step on how to release the secondary latching system but was unsuccessful in my attempt. The manuals directions seem basic but it seems that I have a defective latching system. What could I be doing wrong for me to be struggling with this simple task considering that I am a mechanically inclined individual?

How do adjust my Chevy Avalanche emergency brakes?

I replaced the emergency brakes on my 02 Avalanche and cannot figure out how to adjust them. There is no cable adjustment. The manual sounds like depressing the emergency brake pedal 3 times will tighten the cable but mine does nothing. The pedal goes to the floor and the brakes do not hold. Is there some sort of ratcheting mechanism in the pedal assembly that is not working? I have four wheel disks so the emergency brake is inside each "tophat" rear rotor.

Chevy Avalanche parking brake adjustment?

Thanks for your answer on my parking brake adjustment question. You stated as does the shop manual that the "self adjuster lockout pin" must be removed. Where is this pin? Is it located in the wheels or in the pedal mechanism? My cable adjustment is maxed out as it was when the vehicle was new. Applying and releasing the pedal 3 times does nothing. Apparently I do not have this self adjuster lockout pin removed but I do not know how to identify it.

I have a 2005 Avalanche, and the speed control for the AC & Heater started acting up. It would not allow me to adjust down from level 3, and would continue to run after I turn of the engine and removed my key from the ignition. I finally got it to stop and turned it down to level 1, but now it is stuck on level 1. I have read that it is probably the resistor. I called the Chevy dealership and they quoted me $400 to replace. I know the part is only around $25.

Is this something that I can do myself, or will it require me to have knowledge of splicing wires?

My 2002 Cheyv Avalanche Z71 5.3 ltr is going dead while driving down the road, all at once with no sputtering, just an immediate shut off

My Avalanche just started going dead while driving, but not from a fuel filter or fuel pump problem. It simply looses ignition fire to the engine, but the rest of the vehicle still maintains electrical power. The truck will crank back up, after about 15 minutes, and then may run 15 miles before doing this again. Has anyone else had this happen to their vehicle? The service engine light has also recently come on before this incident. The vehicle does not sputter like a fuel filter clog or act like the fuel pump is going out. It acts like a car that has a module with a crack in it and only acts up after the module heats up. I don't know much about this engine yet, and would appreciate any insight you may have.

I have a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche. My right side running light went out. Replaced it and still does not work.

2 weeks ago I noticed that the daytime running light on the right side of my truck (FRONT) went out. I had it replaced yesterday and the mechanic noticed that it was the WRONG bulb put in there where it was causing the aluminum to get burned. He pointed out to me that my LEFT side one which is still working is already burning it also. He stated the BULB was the wrong one installed on my truck so when he installed the correct one, it still does not come on. So now what else can it be? Plus, could it be something that is a recall by GM?

I was told that the Chevy Avalanche is not a smart buy due to a lot of maintenance and problems. Is this true?

I'm fixing to purchase a vehicle for my 18 yr old son. He has his heart set on Chev Avalanche. I will be buying a pre-owned one at that. I've been told this was NOT a smart buy due to complications with this truck and so many things can go wrong with it and it being too powerful also. But is it a GOOD vehicle for years?

Thanks, single Mom here needing help. His Father passed away and with the SS money this well deserved kid will get a vehicle in next week or two. I want to buy the right one, sturdy, dependable with him going to College and all. He wants a truck for sure he says.? HELP me if you can..

Chevy Avalanche traction control service light on, shift indicator not working and transmission shifts hard. Runs perfect after it resets self

I recently jumped my 2007 Avalanche in the approved standard way. While driving soon after the shift indication bar stopped reading and the cruise control stopped functioning. Transmission shifted hard in lower gear but worked. No engine lights came on. Drove home 200 miles. parked it and everything went back to normal.

Next day happened again this time the traction control service indicator came on, the shift indicator stopped but trans shifted normal. Took to dealer and they can not find the problem. 200 plus codes showed up on first reading now only two or three each time car is started.

I tend to think it to be a computer problem but they said it checked out ok. Any ideas on where to look would be greatly appreciated.

2003 Chevy avalanche wont let me accelerate seems to get stuck in 3rd gear. It's an automatic transmission, just started. Never had any problems. Is there a reset or something I can check before taking it to a mechanic? Transmission oil is in good shape. Any suggestions?

my dilemna is 2wd versus 4wd. the difference in price is significant. so if i will do fine w/o 4wd, i'd like to go that route. my only concern is getting around, especially in and out of parking spaces in the snow, as i am a city dweller (brooklyn, NY)

also, does anyone know of any incentives/rebates being offered on 2008 avalanche (for a lease)?

My Avalanche is completely stock except for a Cold air intake. I have already done all the recommended maintenance for 100K except for checking the wires and plugs. I am wondering if if their are any recommended after market plugs and wires out their to use. I plan on doing this myself.
