I am installing a Brakesmart brake controller in my 2007 Sierra 3500 Classic and would like to know where to install the controller under the dash? Also I would like to know where to drill the hole for the pressure sensor harness? The Brakesmart brake control monitors the brake pressure in the tow vehicle's brakes and provides the desired amount of brakes to the trailer actuator in proportion to the tow vehicle brakes.

What is the biggest tire I can put on my Chevy H3500? It's stock, no lift kit.

Truck has daytime running lights, to drive now i run the light switch in the park light position and use the daytime lights. if i turn the switch to the headlight position my dim lights go out. I do have bright lights but no dim. The dimmer switch is working correctly and the headlight switch is working correctly, what else could it be?

i tried a new relay no different
the old one turned on the pump before but it only started with a shot of ether. im thinking theres a problem with the spider injection ?
it now ran with ether smoothly but then got erratic (surging) stalled but restarted exhaust stinks( MAYBE POSSIBLE PLUGGED CAT)

I have a 96 GMC 3500 4X4 with a 454 automatic tranny that will start and run perfectly when ran for a while like 30 minutes it will die and not start for about an hour. I have replaced the Fuel pump, the ignition module, crank sensor, and to no avail it still does the same thing. Does any one have any suggestions??

I have a 2000 K2500 Chevy 5.7L (I think, it's not a 424) with an automatic transmission that will slip out of overdrive when 'coasting' (i.e., When there's little load on the motor just as you crest a hill or complete a coast down a hill, you can feel the transmission 'lose itself', and then downshift into 3rd.)

Once it slips out of overdrive, nothing I've tried will get it back into overdrive, except for shutting down the engine for 5+ seconds. Simply turning the engine off and then restarting doesn't clear the problem. You have to leave it off for 5+ seconds.

At first this happened once or twice in a hundred miles. Now it's becoming more frequent. Obviously I rather not pull to the shoulder on some roads, but running it in 3rd gear (about 1500 rpm higher) only makes Big Oil richer. And shifting into neutral at 60 and turning off the engine should probably be avoided on a regular basis.

Is this a common problem with these vehicles? What's to fix?

Could there be a simple answer to no reverse on a 93 Chevy 3500 Series?

Replaced transmission filter and oil. transmission working fine,next day reverse engages but truck does not move in reverse, works fine in forward gears. Fluid is up on the mark. Help!

I have already replaced coolant lines, 02 sensors, plugs and wires, idle air control valve. I need to figure out what the transmission problem is...could it be a vss circuit or a vacuum leak?!?

I originally had a problem starting the truck so we jumped it and went to Auto Zone and had the battery's and alternator checked. All checked fine.

Now the battery's are boiling over when I jump the truck to use it. Even after running a while to the point of overcharging when I turn off the truck the batteries will not start the truck!

Ive been told its the alternator even though it tested fine (voltage regulator). Any ideas how I can know for sure what's bad?

04 Chevy 3500 4x4 with 46,000. When I pull a 30' toy hauler I start to here a loud vacuum noise. Transmission starts to slip for 3 minutes, then ok.

Hi, I have Chevy 2004 3500 6.6L V-8 diesel /Allison Trans 4x4 w/ 46000 miles. When I pull my toy hauler 11000 lbs. When the trans temp. hits around 200 degrees, I start to here a loud vacuum noise and trans start to slip as I try to go faster. Stays on for 3 to 8 minutes and will go back to normal w/ full power no slipping. Then about 5 to 10 minutes later its starts again. Speed does not matter For 200 miles on and off. "When I'm not pulling Truck trans. does not slip.

6.2 diesel GMC 3500 glow plugs only work on first start or I can unplug power unit, replug and they work.

The pressure in my air conditioning system is getting too high, per the gauges. I plan to replace the high side valve because it has started leaking. (The high side valve on which gauges are connected.) Since I will have to vacuum and recharge the A/C system, I would like to replace the orifice tube to eliminate the possibility it is becoming clogged and creating a pressure problem. I have been told by 6 different "A/C" guys where the orifice tube is located.....each of the 6 opinions placed the orifice tube in different locations. Now I do not have a clue to where the orifice tube is located. Help!

My 1999 GMC Savanna 3500 (6.5L) shuts itself off (like using the key); then after 5-10 minutes, It will restart like normal. This used to happen app. 1x per month, then about every week, now it's about 3x a day - especially first thing in the morning. What sensors could be acting heat sensative???

I have a 95 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. The front power seat will not move forward. After searching for the front seat (drivers side) track all over the U.S. coudn't find one. A bro found a 1994 seat track and the dealer modified it for me. But it still doesn't work well.
I've checked after market part places to no avail. So Does anyone know what years my 95 Dodge will interchange with?
Also, Does anyone know what company made the seat tracks (who Chrylser farmed it out to?)
Sure could use some advice. I am very short and need the truck to go foward, but I have family members that drive it and they are much taller than me.

I am not really familiar on how this works. You answered my question then asked me a question.
Here goes, I did request information from all junkyards and so far nothing.
My bro got me one at a junkyard but it was a 94. And like I said the dealer said he had to modify it to work. Believe me, I feels like it is off track and goes so slow. Can't even sit on the seat to move it.
Anyway, My bro said this is a job for a shade tree mechanic because the dealerships charge too much. I asked the dealer about it he said the track is bowed in the middle. So guess will have to take it down to where my bro lives about 60 miles or so and let him look at it. He might be able to weld it reinforce it. But sure would like to get a 95 seat track that is made for the year and make of my Dodge. By the way, I'm a woman and as you can see I don't know much about autos. Thank you for your answer.

1997 automatic 3500 diesel 4x4 does not seem to shift into high gear.... O/D Off button is not engaged
max the truck will accelerate is 60 mph ..rpms at 60 reads 2750
rpms in park and step on fuel reads 3200 (redline is 3000)
Truck sounds fine no slipping at all
fuel mileage dropped to 8 mpg

I had a mechanic(?) look at truck he looked under hood and said OH I see it is a linkage problem.. but he would not eloborate and did not have time to fix it.. he is now 200 miles away.
What steps can I take to fix ...?

New, less than 40,000km. NOT us, prof. drivers. Clutch worn past rivets. Mechanic says he has done a few of these. Anyone else have this problem? Mechanic says will last another 40,000 km or so, then, after warranty WE can pay to have the clutch changed to a single flywheel.

I was driving from work yesterday and the truck seemed weak pulling out, amost like it was slipping in first or starting out of 2nd. This am as I was leaving for work and the truck was stuck in first gear and could not reach speeds higher then 25 miles per hr. When I was driving home from work I had the same problem for about 2miles then all of a sudden the truck was shifting fine. Can someone please tell me what happened. I wish to catch a problem early.

I have a 1999 Dodge 3500 truck. The hood safety latch assembly fell off behind the grill. How do I open the hood? I tried to see through the tiny holes in the grill to locate the safety latch so that I could reach a screwdriver back in there to release the hood. It is just too hard to see. I also tried to locate a diagram of the latching mechanism on the Internet w/no luck. Can someone help out?

My 2002 Chevy Silverado 3500 8.1 stalls intermittently. Sometimes at a dead stop, sometime while driving. If I wait a minute or so with the key in the off position, it usually starts right back up. Some days it does it, some days it don't. It is becoming more frequent however. I have changed the Fuel filter, Fuel Pump, Air Cleaner, and Oil Pressure switch. What else should I look for?

96 Dodge 3500 diesel truck 5 speed transmission. My 5th gear went out, can I repair this without pulling my transmission? Thanks.

My 96 Dodge Ram 3500 diesel dually has the 5 speed transmission. 5th gear disappeared and I have heard this is common on this model and it can be fixed without pulling the transmission by going through the tailshaft assembly. Does anyone know if this is true or not? thank you

The transmission on my 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 started racing when I put it into gear, but not when in park or neutral.

This truck struggles to go over 100kms/hr and is revving around 2000 rpms. I have had this truck for about 9 years and it has always had this problem. It just feels as if it labouring way too much for the speed it is delivering. It almost seems as if it should have another gear. I have another 2500 series 5.9 diesel with automatic transmission that drives along well at speeds of 130 kms/hr plus, with ease and at rpms under 2000.

I am acquiring a 97 Dodge 1t V10. I will be towing a 15,000 pound fifth wheel trailer. Can anyone with a similar rig give me a MPG estimate?

I am getting this Dodge v-10 ('94) to pull my 5th wheel trailer approximately 15,000#s. Plus I will be getting an aux. tank of 75g since the truck has 1-19g tank. The previous owner has told me he averaged 10 city, 14 highway empty. No knowledge what to expect with towing. So I am calculating approximately 4/5mpg towing. Does that sound about right?

2004 Dodge Ram 3500 2x4 Vibration and noise felt in steering wheel and floor @50kph+.

It increases dramatically with speed.Seems to be coming from front end. A very slight input to steering wheel changes the tone. Very pricey ($500+)front wheel bearing so am reluctant to take a stab in the dark.No change when I take foot off the pedal.Diesel motor mounts seem ok.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Howdy, I've got a 2008 3500 Silverado and have put 175,000 trouble free miles on it. A little over half the miles was under a load. I have always replaced my own filters. I replaced the fuel filter twice in two days thinking I got a bad one.

Now it won't pull up a big hill without sucking air in and setting off the replace fuel filter light. It also reduces power. I then open the filter bleeder and pump it up and it'll run for a while till the next big hill unless I slow down to about 40 mph. Could it be getting air from the primer pump?
