Possessed 1991 Chevrolet Caprice with Phantom / Poltergeist, intermittent power loss.

The greatest Automotive Mystery that still is not answered. I had a base 1991 Chevrolet Caprice that used to lose power intermittently. The engine used to make a popping sound, and the loss of power came and went. I took it to three GM dealerships, two said they found nothing wrong, and one said they never heard of the problem. I have owned and driven many cars since then, but this automotive enigma has always haunted me. Anybody ever heard or know about this? Car Talk and Top Gear Guy

Electric fan stopped functioning. Checked thermostat, looked rusty. Engine overheats when idling and in city driving. Chevy Caprice.

1968 Chevy Caprice. 350 small block. Engine overheated in a drive-thru. Noticed the electric fan wasnt coming on for some reason. No problems before...checked the thermostat and will replace it. How significant is the thermostat to the functioning of the electric fan? Car does fine on the highway, but I cant do much city driving because the car overheats. Coolant level is good. Removed upper radiator hose to view thermostat. Coolant is getting through just fine. Just need some help on this....somewhat new to the car scene.

check engine light off now, but problems still occur when you downshift by accelerating too hard. if you baby it no problems occur. I have had the car two years and have done plug/wires, waterpump, p/s pump, fuel pump, tps, pcm, fuel filter, temp sensor, radiator, ball joints, o2 sensors,(3 out of 4),cat.back,pcv valve, inner/outer tie rod ends, center link and a pitman arm.

When I use my windshield washer fluid while driving along on really cold days my windshield becomes all frosted as the fluid gets spread out by the windshield wipers and I cannot see out. It's so bad I have to stop the car and scrape the glazed ice off. What can I do to keep the windshield from frosting over like that?<br>
