Chevy Colorado Broken Parking Brake Spring on driver's side

Went to NTB to have them look at why my parking brake all of the sudden was easy to apply. The parking brake cable was broken on the driver's side. This was caused by the return spring inside the drum being broken in half. Went to the Chevrolet dealer to get a new spring and they said it is not on the parts list. Contacted Engineers at corporate and they replied with there is no such spring on a 04 Chevy Colorado. I am sorry to inform them, but we took the spring off the truck. And if there is no such return spring, how do they expect the brake to release when you pull the handle. The spring is listed on the Mitchell's manual. How come Chevy doesn't show it? Anyone else having problems with this?

I am interested in installing a Espar heater which is a gasoline fired recirculating block heater to preheat the coolant on my truck to ensure no cold starting... I wonder if anyone knows why my block heater cord has a temperature sensor on it to only heat my engine when it is colder than -18C or 0F. Would the install of this heater screw up my engine??

When you are idling it has a real rough idle. When you come to a stop it dies some times. It is a 2005 Colorado, the 4 cylinder. You don't really notice it when you are at full speed on the road but when you slow down or push in the clutch and start slowing down it shakes real bad. Anyone have any ideas?

my 04 chev colorado shudders and dies after driving under 10 miles. It has 38000 on it. no previous trouble. dealer "was not able to duplicate but did pcm update and replaced cam actuator solinoid." It did nothing to help. I''m wondering about the fuel filter, but that wouldn''t require a warmup to kill the engine, and it would miss once in a while (?). Ideas?

Yes, it does start, but only runs for a short period, each successive period shorter than the previous one. When we towed it home after it stopped, post-dealer visit, the warning about abs braking came on, but only in tow. The engine light comes on but does not stay on. The warmer the engine (or longer it ran, anyway) the quicker the die off.

I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado which uses, does not leak, 1 quart of oil every 1K miles. The problem started at 6K miles and the truck now has 13K miles. I have had it to the dealer 5 times for diagnosis/repair in the last 4 months. They are now telling me the GM tech said it is normal for a motor to use that amount of oil. I am filing suit under lemon law but I need information to refute their claim that this is normal.

2009 Chevy Colorado exhaust and engine problems.

Hey folks

I just bought a 2009 Colorado LT1 with the 2.9 engine as part of the Cash for Clunkers, It has a total of 1200 miles on it. I had to take it in to the dealer already because it was back firing and they said there was a service bulletin about the exhaust seal between the catalytic converter and the muffler. They fixed that but I'm still hearing a noise like a low farting (for lack of a better description) noise when I accelerate.

Also I have a lot of carbon buildup in the tailpipe when its seems like there should be next to none at this point.

Finally it's shifting poorly on the highway, it seams to gear back and forth between 2nd and third harshly when pulling into traffic. I cant help but this this is related somehow to the engine, possibly a torque issue. This is my first ever new car, I have service my own cars in the past and if I were to guess Id say it has a bad exhaust valve but I know these new engine are complicated.

Generally it's running ok. It seems to idle a little rough. I'm going to take it back to the dealer later in the week. If there is anyone out there who has any information regarding these issues please let me know.

I'm hoping I didn't just trade in my Clunker Safari which ran till the wheels were falling off for another brand new clunker.
Hi, we are wanting to buy one of these 06 Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon crewcabs but are kind of wary due to the forum content that I have discovered just recently. We now may consider an 07 but not sure its in the budget,I was wondering if GM is covering Canadian trucks with the infamous head issues. I mentioned it to a few local dealers and I get feedback of "no knowledge that there is a problem". Anybody got anything to tell me about this?

I have looked at the reviews on 2009 Colorado,Dakota and Tacoma p/u's. All seem to have their own quirks. Tacoma cruddy braking and tranny shifting issues, Colorado rough ride, cheesy interior, Dakota fleet like interior, rough truck like ride (I know it is a truck), pricey for what you get. Any other really annoying features about these trucks that would deter you from buying them again?

Hey,I bought this truck new in 04 and for the most part it's been a good truck. Right from the gate the AC on occasions would loose it's chill for a bit then one day the dam thing would only blow on 2&3. I took it in and they replaced the blower motor the connector & resister all covered by warranty. Now then 10 months pass and the thing only works on 4 so same problem, I take it in and they replace resister+ connector, still covered by the extended warranty.I pick her up and put her down for the night and in the AM she starts and I drive about 28 miles to the job, I stopped at the gate, turned the truck off to get the key 0ff my key ring and when I went to leave the truck wouldn't start.all the lights come on but the last bit of turn that engages the starter ,nothing, I had it towed back to dealer and they say there not sure whats going on only that the work the did the day before has nothing to do with the ignition so they didn't cause the problem that they cant figure out. Sometimes it sucks living in a small town. Any feed back would help tons..thanks
