1993 Chevy Lumina Z34 with chronic brake problems. Replaced front pads, rear pads, real calipers, ABS module, booster.

Car will not stop quickly. Under 40mph it will, but at highway speeds it will not stop quickly at all. Like it is only using front brakes. Replaced brake booster, master cylinder, front pads, replaced rear rotors, calipers, and pads (of the 2 pads...inside and outside, only one pad on each wheel caliper was wearing...replaced calipers with pads at that time), abs module. Mechanic is now going to replace the rear calipers again in hopes this will fix it. Reading other posts it appears the rear calipers are prone to freezing up and there may be a kit or tool to fix it from GM. If this is correct does anyone know the part number or additional details that will allow me to get the kit? Help!!!

If I have to remove the steering wheel, is it difficult to remove and is there issues I need to be aware of when removing the steering wheel as far as the air bag goes?
2000 Chevy Lumina transmission shifting problems

I have a 2000 Chevy Lumnia sedan that when i start it and drive it cold it shifts perfectly you can't even feel it shift it's so smooth. Then when it gets completely warm after driving for about an hour it starts to shift harder while in drive not over drive. If I don't stop and let it cool down or if I'm in stop and go traffic the service engine soon light comes on and it starts to violently shift to where the entire car shakes. If I drive it in over drive any time other than the highway this problem occurs sooner. This problem also occurs if I drive up hill and don't accelerate good enough. Why is my car doing this and what can I do to fix it. ALSO this car has 120,000 miles

Help! I have a 96 Chevy Lumina that has recently begun to overheat, even when there is coolant in the radiator.

I bought a 96 Lumina used about a year ago. I can't drive it for more than 45 minutes w/o it shutting off. Today, it began to overheat even though the radiator has coolant in it. I tried turning the heat on to help cool the engine down, and not only is it not working, the air isn't blowing out hot, it's blowing out cool. I don't know a thing about cars, and I can't really afford to take it to a dealership and have them look at it. Any suggestions, or ideas on what the problem might be?

My 1990 Chevrolet Lumina is leaking water from one of the two aluminum lines that is in rear of car.

I recently had my water pump replaced by a alledgedly reputable car repair shop about 2 days later my car's serpentine belt shredded and burned and the car then overheated stalled and stopped leaving my wife and I stranded on a rural highway in about 35 degree weather and rain. Yesterday I purchased another Serpentine belt had it installed and thought that it would be the end of my troubles, yet to my complete dismay and utter frustration after cranking the engine the car began to shoot water from the top of th engine just behind the water pump and near the heater hose and one o f the two lines located near the rear of the car just beneath the fuel tanks began leak water which smelled and looked like water and antifreeze engine coolant but it was not leaking from the front of the car near the radiator or the water pump, but from the rear of the car just below the fuel tank. What are these two lines called and what do you think it cost me to have them replaced, repaired and installed ? I really need some answers FAST

I have a 99 Lumina (wife's car). AC had no R134, charged it with 2.5 cans. Pressure was 30psi after charging. After two weeks, it was still 30 psi, but no effective cooling. I noticed that the AC clutch was not engaging, no clicking on-off. Since the system started at O, I thought that the AC clutch will not engage until I run a jumper to something to activate the clutch. How do I do this? Details would be helpful. Thanks!!

I have a 1996 chevy lumina. The re brake lights will not work. I have the rear window light , but not the lower brake lights. I have replaced the switch under the brake pedal and that did not help. My side running lights are working but not the brake lights. Can I bypass the original system and wire-up something to make them work? I got a fix-it ticket and need to get them done before Wednesday August 12th.

Started down the road and heard a clunking noise as if I had just ran over something. I was driving in snow but not too much snow. The front driver side wheel will not turn now while going forward but will still turn while going in reverse. I am hoping this is not a major transmission problem but all signs are pointing to that at the moment. There does seem to be an awful lot of fluid behind that wheel but it doesn't appear to be transmission fluid. Transmission fluid level is fine.

1994 Chevy Lumina sedan driver's side wheel not spinning in forward. What could be the problem?

I asked this question previously but mispoke. I do appreciate the two answers I received but believe my question to have been misleading. The problem is not in the steering. The wheels turn but the driver side front wheel will not spin in forward. This again after hearing a clunking sound as if I ran over something. The wheel will spin in reverse. I was luckily able to back the car back into my driveway and then into the garage. This is why I was thinking a transmission problem and not a bearing or tie rod problem. Thanks again to the two mech's who answered my previous question though.

ok my problem is that i repaired a Lumina 96 3.1 and i have it assembled already, but the rockers arms that i have are not the originals one i took them from a Monte Carlo, because the headblock of my Lumina were broke and i went to the junkyard and i bought them. so now the tightening are different i suppose i'm not sure. i said that because the rocker arms of the Monte Carlo and Lumina are different.

I have a Chevy Lumina euro style. the car will try to crank over, and will half start before it goes into a loud grinding sound. I thought it was the battery however i replaced it and the car would still not run. I am trying to find the starter on it. When i look underneath i didn't see one, i saw the oil filter and a large piece of what looked like stainless steel that had about 20 bolts in it. I am wondering if i have to remove this to get to the starter.
other information about the car:
1992 chevy lumina euro style
has a 3.1 litter engine

Like I said I bought a 96 Lumina. For the first week I had it, it ran like a new car. Then I was coming home the other day and it just lost all its power for no reason,I push on the gas pedal and got no response. My top speed was about 20 MPH. Then it stalled and would not start. A little later
(couple hours) I started it again and it started but run terrible like it jumped time or some of the spark plug wires had been pulled off.

The only thing I notice about the car was if you was in heavy traffic it would heat up a little bit but not real hot, and as soon as you took off the heat gauge would go back down. Can anybody out there give me a clue what's going on? Thank You.koolciti2

It was a little old lady's Arizona car - only used part of the year and still under 60,000 miles. Problem probably existed while it was still under warranty - our mechanic has replaced coils and CPS twice, found a ground wire issue and one of the times thought it was related to coolant level. Great car when it runs - any ideas on why it's not running all the time?

I have a 1995 Lumina Minivan. Periodically when I pull up to a red light, or stop sign, it stays in drive.

I have a 1995 Lumina minivan, with a 3.1litre, & 3 speed automatic transmission. Every so often, when I pull up to a red light, or stop sign, the tranny won't shift to neutral, but stays in drive & kills the motor..So I put it in neutral & restart it.. Just started doing this a couple of weeks ago..It's only done this about 4 times so far..Is this a costly fix, & is it something I can do myself?? Fluid is right up..will appreciate all answers..

I have a 94 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1 v6 and apparently there is a special radiator fill procedure. Does anyone know it?

at a gas station my bottom radiator hose got a hole so i replaced it and filled the radiator back up with coolant. there was a sticker in the engine compartment saying that there is a certain way to fill the radiator back up it said to refer to my owners manual for instructions. but it didn't give me a procedure to follow just info about how to mix the coolant and water. so i just filled it normally and now the low coolant light keeps coming on but radiator is full and the over flow tank is full. so dose anyone know the proper procedure?
