2007 Chevy Monte Carlo. Cannot turn key to "off" postion and can't remove key from ignition switch. What went awry?

The key can move through all positions (and does start & stop the engine);
with the exception of the "off" position. It'll stop turning in the switch at the last "stop" prior to the "off" position; and subsequently, cannot be removed from the ignition switch. The position in which it stops is not the "accessory" position, but vehicle does demonstrate state of being powered up (ie: if radio is on, it doesn't shut off when driver's door is opened,etc.). To find resolution, is replacing the ignition switch the "fix?" One more: when the car is parked with the key in the position as described above, would it's status compromise the charge in the battery significantly? (no devices on; just key position) In other words, would the key sitting in the "not-quite-off" position be consuming enough power to drain the charge in the battery overnight?
I cannot resist mentioning: This vehicle belongs to my boyfriend; I own an old 1984 Mercedes Diesel 190D. I have never had any problem with my ignition switch, and it's 24 years old; 240,000 miles later! His ignition switch is, let's say, one year old; 20,000 miles down the road, and it's malfunctioning already? Yep, my father was right ... they really don't make 'em like they used to!! Thank you kindly for any input you can impart; I'd really be jazzed to diagnose my boyfriend's car problem - he's 60 years old and thinks females can't possibly figure out what's wrong with a car! Regards, Michaela

As I said it knocks kind of loudly when ice cold, but runs extremely well.. But once it warms up, the knock quiets down, never goes away, and it runs terrible. Side note.. If the CEL comes on once it's warmed up it runs well again but still always has the persistent tick that goes up and down with engine RPM. Yes it has a boat load of miles, but it's a solid car besides the knock/ hesitation.

The brake light has not come on nor is the brakes making any sounds. The check engine light has been on for about 2 months now.Everything else seems to be running fine. I have over 64K miles on the vehicle. Could the brake lines have frozen or is this an electrical problem?

Where are the left and right temp control actuator motor on my dual zone 98 Chevy Monte Carlo?

I have been searching for weeks for a part on my car. it's the left and right electric actuators, this is the parts that separates the dual climate zones, one for driver, one for passenger, mine only works for the passenger side and i cant adjust the temp at all from my side. i have changed the switch with a brand new one and still same issue, i took it to a dealer and they said that the drivers side actuator is out, and at $450 to fix this i cant afford that, so i thought i could fix it, he wouldn't show me where it was due to "shop safety rules" and haven't had a service department say they would show me either... can you tell me where those parts are? its a 1998 Chevy Monte Carlo

After I have driven the car, it's warmed up for some reason the gauges all peg as far as they can go.The only way I can get the gauges to return to their normal readings, is to shut the car off ,turn the ignition switch on and off without starting the car.You will have to do this a number of times. This car only has 31,000 miles. My mom gave us the car. This problem happened all off a sudden.
Hopefully some one can explain to me what's going on.Nothing shows up one a scanner/no codes.I also have hand controlls in the car nothing electrical.

Thank You,
Denmec

To get the cash for clunkers, the govt. rates the 1995 Monte Carlo as Monte Carlo/Lumina. I think the Monte Carlo is heavier and thus gets less mpg than the Lumina.

If so, the 20 mpg listed is not correct. Plus, because of the age, I never drive my 1995 Monte Carlo on the highway, so will it qualify for the cash to clunkers?

Could anyone tell me where the Outside Temperature Probe is located on my 2000 Monte Carlo?
The temperature display is always 10 degrees cooler than the actual outside temp. It has always seemed to be ok, now all of a sudden it's constantly lower.
Thank-you

Where can I get a Chevy Monte Carlo passenger door, at least just the exterior part and prefer a window with it? Thank you.

I have a 1999 Monte Carlo LS, need to replace at least the outside of the door passenger side prefer a window in it but if not that is fine, I don't have to have the interior parts of the door either or mirror, or the speakers, and would rather not have to go to a junk yard to get one but will if need be, so i was wondering where I could find a door at? any help would be GREATLY appreciated Thank You

On my 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo, my turn signals don't work. The lights work on both sides, front and back, but they don't flash.

I have no turn signals or hazard lights. The lights are working on both sides of the car, front and back, they're just not flashing. I have checked the fuses for both and they are both good. I thought about checking and changing the flasher relay but don't know were it is located. The 2001 Monte Carlo has fuse panels on both the driver side and passenger side and also under the hood of the care but none of these contain the flasher relay. Could you tell me were the flasher is located and if this will fix the problem.

2001 Monte Carlo I'm not sure if it is the wiring. Sometime the blinkers don't work. The tire pressure gauage light and the oil light stays on! I don't know if it was previous owner trying to put his on music in. Or a shortage or something. All new fluids and new tires.

PLEASE HELP!
