Car is idling too fast at start up and when pulling up to a stop. It eventually will idle at correct rpm.

I bought the 2002 chevrolet prizm about a year ago used and the right side headlight bulb went out about 6 months ago. I replace it with a new one and also went on ahead and replace the driver side with a new one at the same time. It lasted for 5 months and now the right passenger side has blown again. What could cause this?

I recently replace the motor in my 93 Prizm 1.6 DOHC 5spd. I have 2 vaccuum lines that come off the power steering hose block. Can anyone tell me were they go?

I'm replacing the head gasket and backtracking find this cable, looks like the accelorator cable, but comes from what seems to be the transmission fluid pan, the cable comes up to the left of the battery. I must have overlooked identifying it don't remember disconnecting it from anything...I took a similar cable off the throttle wheel, but that cable comes from the firewall....I didn't think there were two. Help please...could it be something like the cruise control cable, just unattached and flopping around?

Can you change out the sway bar links without changing whole front sway bar in a 2001 Chevy Prizm?

Sway bar links are loose-you can wiggle them. Makes a clunking noise when hitting bumps. Struts are good.

I have a 94 Geo Prizm and the engine severely vibrates at idle and runs smooth on the road. Any suggestions?

I have a 94 geo prizm and the engine has a terrible vibration at idle only. Any suggestions to correct this as it is annoying.

Also it has 117000 miles and I was thinking of switching to high mileage oil and transmission fluid. Would this be advisable? Any suggestions?

Could you give me an estimate of what the cost would be to replace the motor mounts on a 94 Geo Prizm?

I have a 94 geo prizm and while backing up and applying the brakes there is a noise in the front brakes and it shakes the car. It brakes fine forward, no noise. I had it checked by a mechanic and he said the pads look fine and it has new rotors. Could you tell me what could be causing this?

Took to dealer, tested dye in oil, no leaks, burning confirmed. They Quote "Runs good for now" no offer on repair. $150.00 and that is Frustrating to me. So is the motor shot? Is it repairable? how?
**Also, check engine light came on purchased new gas cap, did not take care of the problem. Dealer checked this "Said Purge Value stuck" they unstuck it I drove off the lot and 2 miles later check engine light back on. HELP.... I am not going back to the dealer...

After washing the engine it misses or stumbles under the load and the check engine light flashes on and off now. disconnected all electrical connectors and sprayed them with starter fluid and blew it out with compressed air and it still does the same thing.

I got the hydrolic line off OK, disconnected the clutch pedal & removed the 2 bolts. Do I have to loosen or remove the brake vac booster? How?

Cable sounds like it is trying to actuate the latch release. It is cold, 15degree F, something may be frozen. Will prying open the fuel door from the outside damage the mechanism?

Have a 99 Chevy Prizm that needs an inside left front door handle with slot for power door lock button. Can't find one.

Can only find these listed with out the slot. Dealers say they do not even have a listing for this handle. I can find all kinds of these door handles without this slot that holds the power door lock button, but not having any luck finding one with this slot. The color of the door handle is tan.

The Geo will sometimes cut out as going down the road also. Could this be bad fuel? Or something to do with an oxygen sensor?

Have a 2001 Prizm with 135k on it. Runs good, good gas mileage, a little low on power, has the common oil consumption problem.Thinking of getting a junkyard engine to rebuild over a year or so then put in Prizm. Original Prizm engine would then be rebuilt as a spare or for another car if one becomes available. I think '02 was the last year for Prizms but of course corollas are still being made. I would like to have the option of putting the spare engine in either a corolla or a Prizm. Is this possible?

Why would a 95 Geo Prizm shut off while driving on expressway and run fine again after letting sit a few minutes?

I have a '95 GEO Prizm and I have a problem with my door lock. In a nut shell: the only way to open my door is to roll down my window and use the door handle. I tried taking off my door panel and I located the lock assembly. The only thing is it is behind the metal of door and its hard to get to. Do you have any suggestions of how I get this lock out or repair this. Thanks.

2001 Prizm w/ 3 speed auto and 1.8 liter engine. I want to swap it for the 4 speed auto. Can I do that? What is involved? Will computer need to beswapped, do I really need the button on the shifter to shut off the overdrive?

I am advanced do-it-yourselfer and can fabricate whatever. I am more worried about computer controlls.

98 Geo Prism cruise control worked, then went into store, came out, and it wouldn't engage.

Cruise wouldn't work. Was told there is a fuse, but owner's manual doesn't say anything about it.

Took my car to a mechanic because the inside door handle when pulled would not open the door. According to the receipt provided, the mechanic lubed and shortened linkage on left front door inside handle. I was told that it was a bit tight when opening, but with use it would be easier to open in time--as the linkage stretched or something to this point. Two weeks later the inside door latch plastic piece of frame (closest to the base of where door handle is) snapped and partially came out at bottom. Took it back to the mechanic who said that I now needed a new door latch, but since I would need to go to a salvage yard to get a replacement the mechanic recommended getting the entire door assembly so as to not bend the latch itself because that would create a problem as well. It was recommended that the outside and inside door handles be included. Don't know if the linkage was properly adjusted or not, but I will need to get this repaired before winter, because rolling down the window to open a car door to let myself out is a real drag now. Do I really need the outside and inside door handles or will the assembly be sufficient to fix the problem?

I have a 1998 Chevy Prizm LSi with headlight problem. I can turn my car on and my daytime running lights come on just for a few minutes and then go off, but I have parking lights, backup lights, brake lights and turn signals, but no night lights. I have changed my halogen bulbs and light switch also checked my fuses. Any ideas?

The manual says to drain the coolant both from the radiator and the engine block. I think I found the plug on the engine, but it's very inacessible (left of oil gasket) and I can't budge it. The manual is describing engine disassembly - if I'm only changing the head gasket, can I leave that other coolant in the engine?

We change the battery figuring the it was that. It wants to start, it just dooes not turn over. So, we are chaning the spark plugs to see if that is the problem. We just do not know that the gap specs are to my '94 Geo Prism Lsi.

I'm trying to change my head gasket and need to take off the belts so I can expose the timing belt (lower idle pulley) and turn it so the engine is at TDC before I take off the timing belt. But the drive belt is in front, I removed the power steering belt and the generator drive belt, but the belt for the air conditioner compressor is stumping me, the book says just loosen and remove, I see no bolt from the compressor that loosens the belt.

I am about to service my 94 Geo Prizm transmission. Parts stores suggest 2 types of fluid. Mercon III and Dexron VI.

Both tail lights are out and the whole dash lights are out so Ii assume that it is a fuse problem
but I cant find the fuse anywhere. It isn't with the rest of the fuses.

The fan stopped working. Other fuses were blown previously, so I wanted to test or replace the fan fuse(s) to see if this might resolve the problem. However, I don't know where this fuse or fuses might be located.

Stuck in park. Temporary fix by depressing button on gear shift. Discovered tail lights and cruse control out. But replacement fuses blow out as soon as installed.
