I cannot find anywhere that says Chevy even gave the option of a 4.8L SS model Silverado in 2006. It has the SS markings, all the options (all leather SS interior, SS decals on doors, wood grain dash, sunroof, 20" wheels, spray in bedliner, etc.) Is this really a SS or did someone spend a lot of money to fake one? I hope it's real cause I just bought it!

2000 Chevy Silverado Stalling and stuttering

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 4x4 with a 5.3 automatic. It started shuttering at red lights but not every time. When I put it into neutral it stops. I changed the fuel filter, plugs and wires but it still does it. Nothing shows up on the code reader at AutoZone and there's no check engine light coming on. Just this week it has stalled twice on me while driving around - not sitting at a light. Any suggestions on what to check next?

Silverado Vortec erratic engine idle

Not long ago I bought a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 LTZ with the 6 Liter Vortec Max engine. Have ~3,500 miles on it already. Sweet, but... When it's in gear and stopped, the idle speed is very erratic and the tach bounces around. Runs fine when I'm going. 4 speed automatic btw. GM and the dealer say it's normal and designed to run this way. Anyone else own this model and does your idle jump around?

I need information on how big a job it is to replace the heater core on a 2002 chevy silverado. Ihave replaced one on a 2ooo but this replacement core is different as it has quick disconects. What i really need is atime line for the job as the 2000 was pretty simple as the bottom of the heater box had a few screws to remove and the heater was right there Iwas wondering if this is the same as the2002 just a different look to the heater. Thanks

The mirror and adjustment motor assembly seem to be attached to the base by three ball and socket connectors. I've tried to separate them but they do not seem to want to come apart. The toothed retainer washer came loose from the swivle post and I can,t fix it unless I can disassemble the whole thing. Do the ball and socket assemblies separate?

1997 Silverado with 240k. Never had any problems with the 4-wheel drive. Drove the vehicle after snowfall without problems. Parked it in the driveway and the next morning the 4-wheel lights were out and the 4-wheel drive was not engaging. While driving the previous day, never heard any noises from the drive. Have had minor electrical problems in the past but never affected the mechanics on the vehicle. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

replaced fuel fitter suspected fuel line freeze up 10 degrees or less for 4 straight weeks, checked fuel pump fuse (ok). Actual question would be, are there any other valves or solenoids between what seems to be a fuel tank mounted pump and the filter? Considering that I am not getting a drop of fuel at the filter should I assume the tank pump bit the dust? Or does the fuel line pass through something else first. Unfortunately you can not get access to the wiring harness that activates the pump without removing the tank. At least I could have metered it and new I had voltage at the pump.

Secondly the routing of the lines across the engine make it impossible to see them . I was told that this vehicle should have two pumps, my 1996 did but this one does not.

Also I can not find a schematic of the fuel delivery system
I just hate to pull the tank if I am just not sure
Any body have any experience 3500 ext cab 4x4 duramax dual/wheel

The starter was rebuilt but the problem has stayed. When I go to start it, the starter continues to crank after the engine has started. I shut it off and then it starts fine. I would assume that it is some sort of electrical issue but wouldn't know where to look. Any ideas or suggestions?
All I know is it will not go in reverse all the time. Sometimes it will and other times it won't. If it was something like changing the filter and fluid I could do that. I have had it in the shop two times at a price of around 3800.00 dollars. I cannot afford this kind of repair bills. Don't understand why this transmission everytime iI take it to a shop is has to have a total rebuild. But I know you have more to do then listen to my complaints. Thanks for trying to help.

I have not priced a new one, we are trying to do this as cheap as possible.

i just disconnected the battery and disconnected the bcm and re-connected it - same thing flashing security and battery lights - the airbag light is also lit on the dash and the seatbelt light flashes ( I know that is normal ) I am so confused and my mechanic is stumped......

2000 Chevy Silverado, excessive gas pedal pressure required

My 2000 Siverado (85,000 miles, 4.8L ) has had this problem for a few years and is getting worse. Here's what happens: When I start the truck and put it in drive, it takes a lot of pressure to press the gas pedal to start the truck moving. When I mean a lot of pressure, it's enough to spin gravel once I get going. Maybe a better way to describe it is to say the gas pedal "sticks" in the "at rest" position. Once I start driving everything seems OK. Is this a common issue? Is this something a novice mechanic can repair themselves?

Thanks for your help,

Bill

Each time they put one on it seems to work fine for a day or 2 and then starts locking up at low sppeed or at a stop. you can turn the wheel when it locks up but you better be real strong to do it. the mechanic says nothing is bent or dinding to make it do this.

2001 Chevrolet Silverado Tune up question

I have a 2001 Silverado 5.3 with 135K and I want to do a tune up on it. Besides the obvious air & fuel filter and plugs and wires, what else should I do? And, I hear the back plugs are a bear to get to, any suggestion on that? I hear you can go thru the wheel opening for better access, is that true? Thank you for your help

I have an 05 Silverado with a rattle in what sounds like the front shock absorber. It looks perfect but rattles badly and is getting worse. I'm told there may a TSB regarding a shock absorber busing which may fix this problem but have not been able to locate it. I'm told replacing the shock absorber will NOT help.
