I sold my 96 jeep cherokee to a person who moved to Mexico. He bought 2 jeeps from me. He took the 1st one in Novemeber and wanted the 2nd one to be shipped down in Jan. I left the plates on it and parked the car at his nephews house, someone got a hold of the keys and got into an accident. When I sold him the car and moved it to private property, I cancelled the insurance as of 12/5/07, and the accident happened on 12/23/07. I got a ticket for no insurance, I have the title showing it was sold, who will get the license suspension and fines?>

Accident with NO Insurance

Mr shiftright... I sold the car to someone who moved to Mexico in Nov. The car was then moved to his nephews residence (private property parking lot). The nephew held onto the title because someone was coming on 1/5/08 to take the car to Mexico. The nephews wife, gave me the title back, because the police towed the vehicle. I live in Long Branch, NJ.. The plates were left on the car, because since it was going out of the country, new plates couldn't be issued to the new owner...and if the car was seen with no plates, it gets towed and I am responsible for the fees (so I was told).... No one had permission to drive the car, it was only to be moved from the driveway to the car trailer for transport.

Should I report an accident with no discernible damage?

Car in front of me started turning right at an intersection. Stopped halfway through for no reason. I was behind her, not expecting her to stop so I rear-ended her car. I was going under 5 mph. We pulled over and looked at both bumpers. There was no discernible damage (I took photos). She agreed it was not dented but then said somebody else had recently hit her so she wanted money to have her bumper painted. Because I thought she was trying to scam me, I did not admit fault but said I wanted this to go through insurance. Any ideas on how to report this?

folks,
I was on my way to work in sugarland,tx in a 09 camry.
I was driving in dairy ashford road at 45mph.
suddenly one lady in a black suv pulled over from on of the perpendicular neighbourhood road.
She overlooked me in the road and just stopped in front of me.
I had two options :
either hit her or avoid a collision.
I swevered my car all the way to left, overrunning the median to another opposite oncoming traffic.Luckily since it was red no traffic wasnt there.
Due to this My front right side tires were torn off and wheels was bent .
I had to park to nearby parking lane.
Ok I acted smart in avoiding humans.
But due to shock I even didnt copy the ladies cell phone or insurance details.
I was soo stupid !
Even there was no complaint to cops and let the lady go.
I had to shell out 740$ for the repairs.
Is there anyway I can get the information on the lady?
I guess she might have called 911 or someone?
I called my insurance and they say since my deductile is 500$ I will get jus 240$. Also the record would be there for another 5yrs.
Which I feel its not a good idea.
Can anybody help me?
Hi! I need your advice. I bought a new car last november. After 7 days, my sister and I got into an accident. Our insurance coverage is 100/300/100 and I was under my dads insurance. I already paid the deductible and the premium balance for 6months already. The car was declared as total wreck. Now, my dad is asking me for another 2400 for the difference. Is there such thing as difference? He’s telling me that I need to pay this amount to the insurance. Actually, a lot of people is telling me that there’s something fishy going on. Im not the one who holds the policy thats why when I called the insurance they’re not entertaining my questions that much even though I’m the one who’s paying them and involved in the accident. Are they really like that? The only thing that i asked them is if I owe the insurance a certain amount (which is the difference that my dad is talking about) and they told me that I dont need to pay anything anymore. Instead I’m going to recieve a claim but my dad didn’t mention it to me. The difference that he is talking about is THE ORIGINAL VALUE of the CAR- THE DEPRECIATED/ ACTUAL/ PRESENT VALUE OF THE CAR AFTER 7DAYS. Get it? (Example the toyota yaris original value is 14000- 12000 which is the depreciated value and the evaluated value by the insurance= 2000 which is the difference) Please.. I need your advice as soon as possible. Is it true?? I dont know what to believe now. Please email me or something. Thanks so much.

Is there a website that shows various vehicle bumpers so I can identify a piece left in my car in a hit & run?

A piece of black plastic bumper was found hanging from my left rear light when I came out of work. Another piece that 'connects' was also found by my van. It looks like the flat 'top' of the bumper (which was stuck in the rear light) is 1-1/2 inches wide; the piece it connects to has rounded edges 5-1/2 inches apart (width), but I cannot tell how long this piece/the bumper is. Hard to describe...!

This definitely had to have been a higher vehicle, for example SUV or truck, based on the damage to my van's left rear side.

Being able to put these bumper pieces together, I am pretty sure I would recognize it if I saw it, which is why I'm wondering: what is the best reference for this sort of identification ? Thanks in advance!

I need advise, please
Our RV was parked on our cul-de-suc street near by our house, when Lowes truck had delivery and was trying to make turn and hit (twice) our mobilhome, wanted to leave without notice, but our neighbour saw and told him, that he better leave a note, which he did then. We notice it in the evening, so next day we tried to start a car, but wheel locked, betteries went down and generator dont work, and our right tire did a mark on the curb, which is explaines that car was moving pretty "good". Long story short, our agent from insurance saw only outside hit, which is very close to gas tank and wanted to just a fix and close the case, but we are afraid to stick with the same car, because who knows whats inside of this RV went wrong, I want to mention this car 1 yr old and we are paying good money for it. Does any body has advise for us what to do? should we call a lawer?

My parked car got rear-ended. How much damage was done?

My compact sedan was parked in a lot and some lady backed into it. I wasn't in the car at the time. Evidently she never saw my car and had her foot on the gas, so she accelerated her SUV into my bumper. In addition to a cracked and displaced bumper, I'm concerned my car may have suffered additional damage to other components.

I had the parking brake on and the car couldn't roll, so the force of the impact may have transferred stress to other areas like the transmission, brakes, suspension etc. I noticed my car makes a grinding noise when turning and it never did that before. Can anyone with knowledge about cars gimme some advice? What other kind of damage can be done to your car it gets hit while parked? I want to get the insurance to cover these potential repairs. Thanks again.

Honda Civic EX car accident. Buy or fix?

I was in a car accident last week and there's structural damage to my car. I'm in a position where I have to decide whether to fix my car or purchase a new one. Note: my insurance covers the other party's damages, but not mine. To make things easier, here are the details:

1) Honda Civic EX Coupe (2000)
2) Mileage: 85,000
3) Front left side of my vehicle hit the rear right side of the other vehicle.
4) According to the auto repair shop, the estimated cost for repairing the vehicle is $4,300.
5) Kelley Blue Book quotes the trade-in value of my car (before the accident) at around $5,000.

With all of this in mind, would it be more logical for me to purchase a new car rather than fix up my Civic?

I can muster up the monthly payments, but I just feel badly that my Honda only has 85,000 miles. Honda's are known for lasting FOREVER, and I kind of feel like I'm throwing away a very decent car. HOWEVER, the cost of repair equals the value of my car, which is why I'm torn. Please help! Thanks!

Best way to sell a wrecked 99 Toyota 4Runner?

My daughter had a 99 4 runner and wrecked it about a week ago. I would like to sell it but I think parting it out would be better and maybe make me more money. The motor and transmission don't appear to be hurt. There is some heavy body damage on the passenger side but the driver side is okay. Window motors work fine too. Any advice on which way to go?
Brian

My Mini Cooper was in a front end accident and insurance won't cover it. I was able to drive the car home and to a body shop for an estimate. The cost of replacing the hood, light, and radiator is about half of the car's value. I plan on selling the car as-is on ebay rather than repair it. I live in California. Do I need to get a salvage title before I attempt to sell the car online?

When my son tried to leave, his hitch scratched the bumper of the car, about a 2 inch by 4 inch scratch. Rubber bumper. We only have liability insurance on the truck. Student who owns car is now getting ugly and wants to file a claim, will our liability only coverage pay for the bumper?

Ford work truck van with ladder racks was involved in a hit & run accident with my Volvo XC70 and totaled it (T-bone hit). I'd like to compare the weight of the Ford work van to the weight of my Volvo. Van was in a SKID on icy roads, plowed into my car.

Insurance co won't believe this is possible for my car to be so heavily damaged by a truck that probably weighed 50% more than my Volvo! Need proof of weight of Ford van! thanks! Unsure as to exact model, but 94 VAN rated 3/4 ton.
What are my rights if I found crash damage after the purchase of a used car from a dealership?

I bought a used car from a dealership in Los Angeles. They indicated that the car hadn't been in a crash and the CarFax was clean (which it was).

I unfortunately was backed into (low speed, only very minor damage) and took the car in to have an estimate done. As the shop began to do the work, they discovered that there was previous damage that had been professionally repaired as well has crash structure damage (an indication of a more severe front end collision then a fender bender).

It's been close to 6 months since I purchased the car but I've been told that this car wasn't safe and should have never been sold due to the "hidden" damage.

I'm not sure at this point if there's anything that can be done or what rights I have since 6 months have passed. Any advise from anyone that's experienced something similar this would be appreciated.

Car is totaled. Insurance company is paying off. Do i have to make monthly payment once POA is given to insurance company for title release from bank?

Car is less than 1 year old. I have Gap insurance, so total loan will be paid off by insurance co.

I am giving insurance co a (POA) Power of Attorney for the release of the title from the bank. Insurance co. is keeping the car and parting out.

The monthly payment will be due in about 10 days. The car won't be mine by then, the bank should have their check, insurance co will have car for parts. Insurance is telling me to go ahead and make monthly payment.

I'm thinking they are saying this just so they can pay less. Won't the insurance have to pay what the balance is at the time they they submit the POA? I'm sure the bank will say to make payment, more money for them right? Are either of them right? I'm thinking its one of the little tricks they use to make more money.

If I really owe this payment, Of course, I want to pay it. Will I be wasting money that I could use toward a down payment since I don't have a trade in this time? Thanks Anyone.

The owner of the F-150 says the impact was hard enough to move it back 16".

While the employee does not deny hitting the truck, the severity of the impact is in question.

I was recently in an accident and my car has significant damage. I browsed a lot of the FAQ and see a lot of information on DV claims mentioning frame damage. I was told my car does not have a frame it is a 2008 Ford Fusion it has a uni body. Is this considered the frame for sake of the discussions? Since I already know that I have damage to the uni body is it something that is going to effect the trade in value considerably. I am thinking that most reputable dealers would not want to re-sell a car that has had repairs that they would have to disclose as mentioned above.

Hi, when the day I paid my car, I got the accident when I back off from the parking space to leave. After I paid the owner, I started to back off to leave that plaza, when I almost done, I saw another car which is in my back was started. Then I completely stopped.

However, that car did not see me, and ran into my car. Then the police came there, but he said both of us had minor damage, so he just exchanged the information for us and left without report. I also told the police I did not have the insurance because I just bought it. Today the other car's insurance company called me and told me to pay 50% of her damage. I refused, because I think it was not my fault. Then they told me they will give the report to the DMV and my license would be suspended for one year. Will this happen? Thanks!

I think
the cops arrested her..not positive though

My friends car was a 2009 Toyota, very low miles.
Her insurance deemed it "totaled"

My friend said shes only dealt with her insurance company regarding the matter, she wondering why the other insurance hasnt contacted her.

My friend's insurance company came back with an offer that was a little low.

She is wondering why she isn't dealing with the other insurance company since it wasn't her fault at all.

Her insurance company said they are going to pay her out first then go after the other insurance company to pay back them back.

Is this normal procedure?

Im not sure if my friend's insurance company is all that trustworthy.

Is there any way of getting more money from the other insurance company?

Is it normal not to talk to the other insurance company regarding this matter?

Sorry if these are stupid questions.
I just had my 1st wreck (hope my last too) Our SUV was towed to a collision center and my nerves are working overtime!! My sister had a wreck about 6-8 weeks ago- - her car was taken to a collision center and her car is now worse. The collision center made some "repairs" but after she was given her car back the a/c went out, brake fluid started leaking, her locks would not work and the list goes on...so she is having a hard time trying to get them to fix it correctly. We have full coverage insurance but I'm just not sure what to do. Our adjuster will not be out to inspect until Monday. Any suggestions??

Recently leased a new Toyota Venza. The car was unfortunately in an accident only 4 months into the lease and was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. The insurance company is claiming they do not owe sales tax in the pay off amount because it is a leased car. However, the bank is treating this as a lease buy out / early termination. They are charging us the balance on the car + sales tax on that value + the next month's payment + an early termination fee.

We are in Arizona. We very unfortunately did not get GAP Insurance. Our monthly payments did include sales tax (each base monthly amount was taxed).

Should I answer the other driver's insurance company that wants to know about my life for the last ten years?

I had an auto accident two years ago, my attorney said we are going to trial. Recently, I been asked by my attorney for an interview in which the other driver's insurance wants to ask me questions about things like where did I work last ten years, place where I lived or what doctors I visited; that kind of questions.

I'm not happy with that because it was two years ago and after the accident, my wife and myself have been through a lot of things.

Does anyone have ideas about this, because I don't trust my attorney anymore.

2005 Dodge Magnum SXT, Gas pedal stuck, brakes didn't work, key off, hit tree

Am looking for answers. Ihad my car washed, when yellow light went on I put my left foot on brake and put it in gear...without steeping on gas the car shot out of the bay at breakneck speed! Managed to get it around the cleaning island, turned off key. car did not slow down, brakes did not work. Did over $9,000.00 damage. now they say they've found yet another part it needs before it's done! I love the car but am terrified it will do this again and I won't get out. Has anyone had similar type incident with a Magnum? I'm truly terrified of the car now and it should be done soon!

Would be greatful to know if other Magnum owners have had an incident like this?

Can a 2001 Chrysler Voyager minivan going 55mph be controlled when having a tire blowout?

my sister had a rear tire blowout on the back drivers side going 55mph & tried to pull off the road to the right & could not control the stiring & the car went to the left across 3 lanes of traffic where she was hit twice by other cars & hit a cement wall facing on coming traffic. The policeman at the scene said this was a common problem with the Chrysler Voyager Van. It was a 2001 year and completely totaled. Would appreciate any info you have on this problem as I have a 2001 Chrysler Voyager. Thank you, Nellie5

Where can I get a complete and accurate record of my driving history? The Mass. RMV cannot find it.

My Mass. license was suspended because I didn't pay a fine (expired registration tags) when I lived in California. I moved to Mass., turned in My Ca. license and got a Mass. license and 5 mos. later I got a notice from Mass. RMV that they were gonna revoke my Ma. license if I didn't pay a $500 fine to Ca.
I paid the fine and all should be well. This was in '03
I've been driving since 1978.

Now I'm in commercial truck driving school and I get my driving record from the RMV and it has the suspension on there but it doesn't say what it's for.
It's not a moving violation, it was basically an administrative issue.
Someone stole the reg. tag off the license of a car I left with a friend in Ca. to sell and the cops ticketed it and I never got the notice so they suspended my license even though I no longer had a Ca. license.

I would like my driving record to accurately reflect 30+ years of accident, incident, speeding ticket, DUI free driving and all the RMV knows is that the first time I had a license, as far as they can tell, is 2003 and I immediately had it suspended.

Doesn't look good to a prospective employer, especially if your almost 48 years old.

I was in an accident this week-end. A lady pulled out in front of me, I swerved to try to miss her. My front hit her right quarter panel/bumper and it catapulted me across the street, down an embankment and hit a tree. I have a 1991 Ford truck Custom. It's a very nice truck with only 68,000 miles on it. I want my truck fixed. it will need a new hood, front quarter panel, bumper, grill and drivers door, a new radiator and paint job. Will her insurance company fix it? They said she has insurance to pay for my damages up to $10,000 dollars? I do NOT want another truck I want mine fixed.
