hard to shift 2-3 why

1999 2500 24v cummins 130,000mi,just bought, no history, when at first start up veh, shifts 1-2 good, when it shifts 2-3 motors almost red line before shift, 3-4 good shift. after 1st. shift through it seems to be ok. curise control operates but gains in speed. why any connections?..help

I ran out of diesel in my 5.9L Cummins Turbo. What do I need to know to get it running again. Thanks very much!

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram, with a 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel manual shift.

I just rebuilt my 46re tranny. Now I have no reverse. Everything is foward even neutral. How do I fix this please? Dodge 2500.

The transmision is in a 1998 2500 dodge with a diesel. I didn't do anything with the valve body. just took it off then put it back on. when i rebuilt the tranny the clutches were very badly worn and they had been slipping. Everything went together very nice, i thought. When i put the truck in reverse it acts like it wants to but nothing. From Neutral on the truck goes foward.

When the truck is cold it works fine, once the truck has warmed up (15-20min) it starts showing problems. When I put it into reverse to back out of wherever then put it back into drive, the transmission doesn't want to shift into second, sometimes i can get it to shift if i rev the engine up enough, then i have to do it all over again to get it to shift into 3rd gear. If i stop the truck and shift it into park then back into drive it will work fine like nothing was ever wrong, that is until i have to shift into reverse again. Once the truck cools down it works fine. Any ideas?

2004.5 ram 2500 CTD 325/600 HO----was merging into highway traffic at about 3/4 throttle and engine died. Pulled over and got it fired back up and drove it on home. No engine check lights or anything came up no the dash that would have indicated a problem. Ran fine all the way home(about 36 miles). Hooked a code reader up and got a fault code P0628 that indicated "fuel pump A control circuit low". Is this a fuel pick-up pump problem that I could fix myself, or perhaps something the dealer needs to look at? Any suggestions guys?

My 98 Dodge Ram diesel continuously up and down shifts when trying to maintain a constant 40 to 50 mph.

I have had the transmission fluid changed. Also the sensor on the rear differential was changed because the speedometer was reading strangely.

When I and driving my 2005 Dodge 2500 Diesel the engine will die and then start right back up. The speedometer, RPM's and engine temperature will all drop to "0" and then in about 2 seconds it starts right back up. This happens on both the highway and in town. No engine warning lights come on during this. Our local repair shop check the on board computer and they found a message that said "temporary loss of memory", but nothing else. This happened 20 times in 30 miles. Help!

99 Dodge Ram diesel has large temperature changes with only 1 click change with temp control knob. Any ideas?

Changed the control motor as it was rusted fast. Now only get full cold or full hot depending which way I move temp control knob.

As I try to determine if the 2006 2500 SLT mega cab can pull our RV it is confusing. I found 4 different weights on the Dodge site ranging from 11K to 13.5K. What is the correct towing capacity of the 06 2500 with the 5.9L diesel with load range E, ten ply rating tires? How much will this increase with the addition of airbags to make up for the extra leaf spring that the 3500 models have? Our RV is a fifth wheel, 34 foot, 1600 lb tongue weight and total trailer weight of 10,600 lbs. thanks, feb

97 Dodge 2500 cumins 4x4 auto trans does not want to shift into OD till 50 to 55 mph at times

My trans started shifting abnormally (intermittently), not shifting into OD till 50-55 mph and shifting out of OD at about 50-55 mph.I took it to a trans shop and they said it needed rebuilt so I let them rebuild it.Its still doesn't shift like it should and its intermittent so it wont act up when I take it back for the shop to look at.these are my symptoms.

#1 the OD light stopped working,it used to flicker when it got real wet and rainy but now it dont come on at all, the switch still turns on and off the OD though (only the light doesn't work).

#2 at times trans wont shift into OD till 50-55 mph and wont stay in OD below 50-55 mph. (seems to be more common with heavy acceleration)this is intermittent and doesn't do it all the time.sometimes the trans works fine.

#3 sometimes when you start from a dead stop it feels like its not in the lowest gear.(feels like your pulling a big trailer up a hill) then you will feel it shift to a lower gear and it seems ok.

#4 sometimes trans seems to be slipping from a dead stop and then it locks up. the rpm may go up to 1000 to 2000 rpm and then it locks up.(I notice this the most when I'm just starting the truck to go somewhere)

I have been hearing what sounded like an exhaust leak. Now the engine light is on and truck is running rough. My mechanic says I have a cracked exhaust manifold. How common is this on Dodge rams? Don't think this should have happened with only 62,000 mi on truck. Truck has had regular manitenance. Oil changed every 3500 mi. Dodge has already replaced the front end. I have had to replace the steering box. Lots of expensive problems.

New Dodge Ram 6.7L diesel bio fuel compatibility?

I recently purchased a 1994 dodge 2500 it has 206 K, it drove fine during the test drive, on the way home it started to hesitate sputter and then just died. I thought at first it was the IAC controller or the TPS sensor. I replaced both and it is still doing it. It seems like the temp sensor is shutting down the car when it gets to temp. any ideas before I take it to the shop and pay through my teeth.

Is the torque converter in 99 v10 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 the same as in a 97 Cummins Dodge?

Hi i got a 2002 dodge ram 4x4 with just 160k on it. it will not stay in lock up torque converter when driving between 45 and 55 with OD engaged and it does the same thing with OD not engaged but around 35 or 40. we talked to some local tranny guys and they said replace the govoner pressure solenoid and other electronics right by the vavle body when you take the pan off. we also replaced the wiring harness that connects all this, put new fluid in, new filter. let her warm up and drove her and still the same thing. could it be the torque converter or a bad valve body? someone help please

When starting out in cold weather, there is a very noticeable squishing noise coming from the transmission. It sounds to me like the oil is squishing out between the gears. It only does it when starting out. Once you are above about 10 mph the noise goes away. Then when you stop at a light it does the same thing again. The truck has 167700 miles on it. Once it is driven a few miles the noise goes away. The trans fluid was changed with no change in the noise. I have also noticed that it is a little harder to shift from neutral to 1st gear than it used to be. If the temperature is warm outside, it makes no noise at all. This is a recent problem, even though the weather has been cooler in Northern Nevada for some time.

Dodge Ram 2500 v-10 runs awful. Can take all right side plug wires off and it doesn't change performance.

I can take all 5 plug wires off the right bank and the performance don't change at all, wires are firing and fuel rail has good fuel pressure, the motor accelerates very slowly and pops through the intake periodically,, please help.

the tranny was rebuilt 3 years ago. it runs great doesn't leak oil on the ground it shifts a little hard from 2 to third but not enough to bother me. Sort-of like a manual valve body or shift kit. the truck has a little over 200,000 miles. I'm a pretty fair wrench and it sounds like some of you here know what you're talking about, a rare thing nowadays. thanks

I have a 96 2500 v10 auto transmission 4x4 truck. The transmission will start off in 2nd gear in drive skipping first. It will only go in first if I start from neutral or park and shift straight into first, at this point I can manually shift and it shifts fine into 2nd and drive. While in drive it will not down shift into first. Anyone have any ideas?

My 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 is making a lot of noise in gear including neutral, but nothing in park. Any ideas?

Have took the truck to the shop replace the stabilizer bar and the front end still is jumping? It does not do this until you hit rough road? Someone told me it might be the "death wobble". Said that this year of truck is having some issues? Does anyone know anything about this?

2007 Dodge Ram 2500, clutch chatter or what?

I have a 2007 Dodge 2 wheel drive, 6.7 L, 6 speed manual transmission. When I back up my truck (slightly uphill) with my 5th wheel trailer attached the clutch chatters violently. I have replaced the Dual Mass Flywheel and all associated components. When backing up I have to slip the clutch to ease the trailer into its spot. It feels like the springs in the DMF might be winding up then releasing and I can smell the clutch plate. It seems the hotter it gets the worse it gets, I have driven manual transmissions most of my life. I have heard of replacing the DMF with a single mass but I don't want to mess up the warranty?
I replaced it with a LUK which is my understanding is what the original was. I had the work done at a local clutch shop and they assured me that the LUK was what was used. I purchased the DMF through LUK. I believe they used the same one on the 3500 as well?

Any ideas out there?

when i hit sharp bumbs o at highway speed, my truck begins a shake that makes me feel like i'm about to die. when i slow back down to about 35 it stops, until i hit another sharp bump. i've taken it to the shop, and they said it was breaks grabbing, so they replaced those. but it is still happening. i like the truck, i don't want to have to get rd of it on account of ignorant mechanics. can anybody explain what is going on here?

i have changed the gov. and tps ,converter still kicks out then back in until you go past 50 mph , fluid is clean , pan is clean , trans shifts good , converter does not slip , trans controler is calling for the converter to unlock and lock , thank you john

hello, my 07 dodge ram 2500 cummins has a noticeable electrical power drain upon cold starts. it sends the amp meter into the neg and the headlights dim and the blower motor for heat is even decreased. and it pulses in and out for like ten minutes or so. dimming the headlights as the electrical power is drained as shown by the volt meter. the dealer said its a pre-heater power drain, its very powerful and drains the power from the battery or alt. this is normal? dealer says it is. my truck has 7,500 miles on it and its my first diesel. any help with this????

I have 04 dodge ram 2500 5.9 turbo diesel, with banks 6 gun tuner. The past few weeks having trouble starting in the cold (live in Boston). Brought it to the dealer and they replaced the filter. Still won't start in the cold. I've been using ether to get it going. If I install the block heater cord will that help with the starting problem? Once she starts she runs fine. Plenty of juice in the battery, starter is good - she cranks over and over but won't fire. Once I spray the ether she fires right away. Any help guys?? This is my first diesel and I love the truck.

What manufacturers make four door trucks with six foot beds, plus have four wheel drive available?

I have a new battery in the truck for about 4-5 months now. The battery posts are clean. What the problem is and about. My alarm keeps going off, the interior lights flash on/off, ticking noises in dash. Took cover off of fuse box and heard the ticking louder. Also my door switches keep wanting to unlock. I lock it and it keeps coming up. Please help me it's my work truck. thank you.

Dodge Ram 2500-Diesel-6-Turbo. Transmission fluid correct level and clean.
Transmission will not shift from low gear. Anyone have an idea what is wrong & how to repair? Had no signs anything was wrong-Could not accelerate higher than 30 mph-rpm went to bottom of red bars. Engine heated up. Made sure was not in 4wdr. Same problem in 4wdr. Hope someone has an idea.
