Hi. My Crown Vic 94.
I have to hold over the key for a long time until the car starts now it is cold. In summer it is ok. Is there a heater in the manifold to heat the gas like a diesel?

1994Crown Vic Rephrased question.

Now it is cold I have to hold over the key for a long time, (10to30 seconds) then the starter engages and the engine starts OK. Is this normal.

No, the starter dose not engage until the 10 or more seconds has has elapesed, then the starter engages and car sarts. Someone said it might be a resistor in the circut which takes time to let the power go to the "selanoide" Speling?

My Crown Vic blows only cool/cold air. the temp gauge shows proper heat range, the hoses to the heater core are hot, the upper radiator hose is hot and the lower radiator hose is cool to the touch. There is no problem switching between vents-just no hot air

My mechanic says that my intake manifold needs to be replaced because it is causing radiator fluid to leak into the cylinders, yet the overflow tank level stays constant. Wouldn't the overflow tank decrease if I was leaking fluid?

I am hearing a roaring noise coming from the front of the car. It sounded like the tires were bad so I replaced them but the noise persists and gets louder as I accelerate. I am pretty sure is coming from the front driver side wheel. Also when I turn the wheel all the way (any side) and the car bounces I hear a horrible noise, like metal with metal crunching. What could be causing this noises?

Son purchased 1999 CVPI as-is. Removed police bumper guards, mirrors, lights, etc. Front bumper is sagging badly, looks like it might fall off. Can't tell from engine compartment or underneath exactly how bumper is secured. Can it be shored up or replaced with a new (ie, junkyard) bumper easily? Is any welding required?

My 1988 crown vic when in overdrive stalls at 45-55mph in second gear. After reaching 60mph it runs normally. When I try to accelerate there is a roar from the trans. If I drive in regular drive it shifts in all gears normally. I was advised by a trans shop that I may need a pressure adjustment. The cost would be $65. The car has 88,000 miles. I want to know if this true or should I go ahead and get the trans rebuilt.

When I recently dropped my transmission pan to drain the fluid while taking it out, I found a yellow plastic piece, it was in my pan when I took it off, so I dont know where it goes.. it has a skinny plastic rod then it gets to look almost like a big cone on the end... I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I was told that antifreeze on top the engine means the problem is the intake manifold. The Hayes manuel says it he heater core. Which might it be? Could it be both? It's not over heating but I'd like to fix this asap.

I had made arrangements for a qualified trade for a new vehicle that still qualifies but my dealer now says the rules changed for my car and it doesn't qualify now but maybe there can be someone who can make an exception. Is there a place to inquire about this? The NTSA said I have to email a request to a website at fueleconomy@ornl.gov but that didn't work.

Why does a 93 Ford Crown Vic Police Car that gets EPA 17mpg qualify for Cash for Clunkers and not a 93 Vic LTD that's rated 19mpg? Same engine specs.

We have a 93 Ford Crown Victoria LTD and it does not qualify for the Cash for Clunkers program, however the 93 Ford Crown Victoria Police Version with the same engine specs does qualify.

Is there any way to get the LTD included in the program. The Police version gets 17mpg and the LTD gets 19mpg. The car does not get 19mpg it only gets maybe 17 to 18mpg.

Battery went dead. After recharging, noticed that dome and courtesy lights wouldn't go out. Had to pull fuse 4 in dash fuse panel to extinguish so that I wouldn't drain the battery again. Any thoughts?

Hi from Flint Martin.
OK What hapens is.......in July when I turned the key to start nouthing hapens for a few seconds then it starts. After driving the car it gets normaly hot,then it would start right away.......
In November and its cold in the mornings, I may have to hold the key for 20 seconds untill it starts......Now it is 10 degrees in the morning it will not start at all.

this 2003 crown victoria recently starting changing air flow from the a/c center vents to the floor and defrost vents, this seem to alternate when you are accelerating of slowing down. it has auto temp control but the switch selection does not seem to make any difference. the fan seems to work ok and the temperature seem ok.

My 3003 Ford Crown Vic headlights shut off at random making me hold my brights on manually. What's the problem?
