Can a Ford Escape pull a travel trailer with a GVWR of 3100lbs?

i want to buy a mini travel trailer which has a dry weight of 2,100ibs, and a GVWR of 3100lbs, but i don't want to go for a large SUV to pull it. I've read on the Ford Towing ratings document that a ford escape will pull 3500lbs. i only intend to tow for a maximum of 10 weeks a year, but i will also need to use the vehicle to drive to and from work, which is 110km each way, so fuel efficiency is important. Larger SUVs like explorer, tahoe, etc have low fuel efficiency, and are too big for me to drive.
can you give me any advise.

I have an 02 Escape that's making a clunking noise in the front at turns, slowing, stopping etc. This can be felt in the steering wheel as well. Just 1.5 months back I had the lower control arms and sway bar links replaced. All was good for several weeks then this started again. It starts the noise after the car has been driven for about 10-15 minutes.

I live in Baltimore city. Lately I have noticed that it takes quite a while before my Escape Hybrid goes into EV mode when it is cold outside, even though I am doing city driving. By the time it goes all electric I am out of the city and onto the highways. Should it really take that long for the batteries to warm up. Friends that have Prius' and Camry hybrids tell me that there is no warm up time necessary for their vehicles.

My 04 Escape has developed a vibrating/rattling noise inside the dash, on the passenger side. It started sporatically and is now constant. Nothing appears lose. The dealer said that they would have to take the dash apart to find the cause. Any ideas as to cause/cure?

My '02 Ford escape has a leak in the rear differential, and my mechanic told me I'll have to replace the entire differential because Ford used aluminum differentials in the Escape, and they warp, so a new seal wouldn't "seal." Anybody know if that's accurate and, if so, whether Ford has done -- or will do -- anything about it?

I am considering a Ford Escape Limited and I have X Plan pricing. I am satisfied with the deal I am getting on this vehicle, significantly less than what others are paying around the country. If I lease, extra miles are .20/mile if the MSRP is above $30K. If the MSRP is less than $30K, the extra miles are .15/mile. My MSRP is $30,285. Do you have any recommendations on how to reduce the MSRP without losing the equipment I want on this vehicle?

I have a 2005 XLS Ford Escape with the "Intelligent" 4-wheel drive. It also has the Blaster package which includes 6 speakers/6 CD changer/running rails/oversize tires and roof rack with about 49,600 miles. I have had one accident right after I got it where I lost control on an icy road. Damage was about 11,000. Ford should have totaled it but didn't? Why? Don't know. No Structural damage, mainly the windshield, all windows on passenger side and rear window with passenger door replaced. Vehicle is Copper colored and I know it costs allot to have to repaint it.. Can anyone tell me what the trade-in value would approximately be?

In '07 I traded my 2005 Escape because of transmission problems. Now that I'm totally upside down and can't trade I'm stuck with the 2008 Escape with the same problem and then some. A week ago the transmission cooler went bad (at 40,000 miles).

I ended up having to pay $800 bucks b/c Ford says they can't cover it under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. I'm so disgusted and depressed. Ford says they can't do anything and that their hands are tied. They also say that its the dealer's responsibility.

All the dealer is willing to do is go in circles and just keep fixing the problems. I'm trying to sell the car for what is owed but its near impossible because the payoff is $23,000 and 42,000 miles on the car. Any advice on how to get myself out of this mess?

The engine coolant light on my 2001 Ford Escape comes on shortly after startup and stays on for the duration of my trip. The coolant level is, and has been, right at proper level and the engine temperature remains right where it should be: in the middle of cold and hot and never fluctuates. I recently had the coolant system flushed in an attempt to correct this problem. It did not. Is it safe to drive with this light on? Is this something that I should get checked right away? Could it be a faulty sensor? Please HELP!!!

Will Ford USA honor the warranty on a new Escape bought in Canada? Moving for job, and Ford Canada has great price.

Hi,

I am planning to buy an Escape in Canada (great employee pricing right now) and then moving to the USA (Texas) for a job. Will my warranty on an Escape purchased in Canada still be effective in the USA?

Will Ford USA cover repairs that are under warranty or will I have to pay upfront for repairs covered under warranty and then have Ford Canada reimburse me?

Where can I get details on this?

Thanks.

I have an 03 Ford Escape. I am looking for a bright pair of fog/driving lights.

I have an 2003 Escape. The low beam headlights do not shine well at all. The dealer agreed to put a pair of fog lights on the car before I bought it but I think my son's little tykes flashlight is brighter than the fog lights.

Any suggestions for a pair of fog lights or driving lights that will illuminate the road better in front of me. I do a lot of back road (but paved) driving and the roads are very curvy.

Also, I have been a diabetic for 26 years and it has gotten harder for me to see at night while driving. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
