The weather has been very cold, and my horn just started to sound without touching it. I had to remove the fuse in the middle of the night just to stop it from going off. I put a new horn relay in it today, it lasted for a while and then started to go off again without touching it. What is the problem?

I had asked advise on 1995 nissan 200sx distribitor problem. This is the first time I have been in a forum. I clicked thumbs down thinking that would take me to a place I could tell you more about the car. How do I keep going in this forum? The car has 187000 miles and never over heated and has not had a oil pump replaced as far as I know.

It is the output side "the speedometer" then because the cruise control will maintain the Trucks speed even when the Speedo reads zero if I had the cruise set before hand before it goes wacko that is. But could it be any thing other than the instrument panel cluster than? I've had 5 new ones put in, in the last month with no improvements that is what is driving me nuts.

I do have 2 speed Sensors located across from each other on the top of my Transfer case right?

Thanks for your help!
The Local Chevy dealer has only told me that they will keep ordering clusters till they get one that works. They are telling me that the replacement clusters are in most cases no better than the ones they are taking out. They could be right I guess? One repair on the cluster, I think it was the second repair my Gear selector screen was blank after the repair, so nothing showed what gear I was in until they put the 3rd cluster in, but none have improved my Speedo. I've even drove 30 miles to a different dealer and same result. The bad thing is Chevy is only warranting the Instrument panel cluster so I'm almost afraid that's all the dealer is willing to believe is wrong and the truck is out of its 3 year warranty. This weekend I want to take both speed sensors out and spray them down with electric cleaner and see what happens. Two new ones are $80 and it does look as though I do have two on the top of my transfer case across from each other on the top. Wondering if I unbolt these to clean them if I'll have transfer case fluid come pouring out? Also I want to try the electric parts cleaner because it fixed my Mass Air Flow sensor when that kicked on a engine light and produced a trouble code, after spraying it to death with the cleaner and letting it dry the engine light was gone and so was the trouble light when I put it back in. You think it could be something as simple as dirty Speed sensors messing up my Speedo even though my cruise still works weather or not the speedo is? Thanks again.

one speed sensor

Okay so the left sensor is my speed sensor for my truck. The one on the right turned out to only be for my 4wd. You were right there is nothing to clean on the sensor it is all closed up. The Sensor was real loose when I took it out, the weight of the wrench on it was enough to turn it. It would be nice if it was that simple. Any way the next plan is if it was not that simple "that it just needed tightened" is I want to switch the two sensors and see what happens, they look to be the same part and I've not had any issues with the 4wd so thinking this maybe the cheaper way to trouble shoot it. Any thoughts?

I have a 2004 f350 with 6.0 power stroke. It has been sitting about 3 weeks and the weather has been sub zero at night. I tried to start it and the battery was drained. I hooked up my charger. When I tried to start it, it turned over but no start. I took the key out but the starter still was engaged. I had to disconnect both batteries. Now, when I put the battery cables on, the starter tries to start the truck. The key is in my pocket. Any help?

96 Windstar engine won't shut off

I've got a few questions on here already regarding a 96 (originally posted as 95) Windstar that won't shut off with the key. Someone suggested a new lock cylinder, and I got one, which was the topic of the subsequent questions.

Well, I finally managed to get the old lock cylinder out and the new one in...turns out with the Windstar, the steering column housing doesn't need removal, nor does the steering wheel.

Got the new lock cylinder in, and the engine turns over just fine. It STILL won't shut down. The only way I can shut it down is via a relay in the engine...disconnecting the battery doesn't do it.

Please help. Is there any other fix I can make to get rid of this problem?

Thanks.

What is the earth ground for a 1993 SAAB 9000L Turbo?

I have a 1993 Saab 9000L Turbo. I thought the alternator was bad. Before replacing it my battery would go dead and when I turned the heater on the lights would go out. I had to drive holding the high beam bar to keep the lights on when it happened. Now after the alternater has been replaced, the dash board lights and the information buttons don't light up to give me the information. This had been happening before the alternator replacement also. I think it's a ground but I don't know what ground, where it is, or anything. What is the earth ground on the SAAB? Thank you.

I had Checked, and Cleaned the Battery Grounds, there are two grounds that run from the start of the neg to the frame, I cleaned those, and another two, one on the fenderwall, and firewall.

As for the Main ground, I Couldn't see the end, but I could feel it, and it was snug, and the area was clean, and felt like a nice solid contact.

So any other suggestions on grounds or anything else, I'm preying it's not further into the dash then what I already have apart, it's weird, the P Brake lamp engages and the speedometer fails to zero, it's rare for the system to work, but when it graces me, it works fine...might help, the window washing unit was removed, so there are two wires free, one "plug type" and another which is red that has a washer ring tip to it(which is/was a fusible link), Like I said don't know if that would help.

thank you again for your time.

Thank you for your prompt response. I did check the fuse box under the dash near my left knee. I pulled each and every fuse just because there was no marking for horn fuse. And by appearence they were all good. And I did it one at a time. Don't laugh, but where behind the grille is the horn located. Would it be closer to the battery side which is the passenger side in this car or to the right, drivers side. Does it sit high towards the top of the grille or lower near the bottom of the radiator? Thanks you very much, Ben.

For instance, let’s say I’ve got a 180 AH battery and four cars each needing 45 AH.

Can these four cars be started simultaneously by a single 180 AH battery?

If yes, is there a physical limit to how many cars can be started simultaneously with a single battery, provided that it has sufficient amperes to crank all the cars at once?

Or will that depend upon the cold cranking rating?
What caused my battery to blow up?

my friend needed a boost but we had no booster cables,so he took my battery out of my car and tried to touch the positive to positive,my battery was a bit bigger than his so to make a full connection he held my battery upside down with the two positive post touching each other and to get the ground to touch he used a tire iron to touch off on the ground post and the engine, while another person was in the car holding the key on until it got a good connection to start, and it did, spark show galore, here's how it went, his battery in car my battery upside down touching positive post to positive post, negative post to tire iron on both batteries then tire iron to ground,it works,i put my battery back in my car and dim interior lights and my battery seemed dead,I'm thinking it reversed polarity,we turned on the headlights to see if there was juice, after about the third time of putting my terminals on my battery BOOMM IN THE FACE,we were OK after a splash down from the fire dept, but what caused it?is the real question, reverse polarity from being upside down?hm,never again,
