Hi, have a 2004 Ford F-250 SD with an electrical problem. Found that fuse #4 almost a short, what's on #4?

battery was at zero and couldn't charge. took off an measure about 1ohm into car. found that fuse #4 was doing that, but it doens't have labels, just see service manual, which I don't have. Hoping #4 is something that I can go without at least for a while.

Truck has approximately 145,000 miles. I've had 4 years. Runs like new throughout.
Ford Dealer changed filter and fluid in September. I thought it had to much trans-fluid when I got it back when I checked the dip stick.
Now the light to overdrive button on gear shift flashes.
I have Super Chip with Diagnostic capabilities.
I ran today and got Code P-1728 ( Transmission Slip Error -- Converter Clutch Failed )
Looking for suggestions.

The truck has 220,000 miles on it.the problem started on cold morning, it stopped when i started pluging in the truck. now it does it oany time the truck sits for awhile.it will restart after a few minutes and now it will do it 3-4 times befoe it is alright

How do I get rid of the green buildup on the battery posts? It is also on the wires that are hooked to the posts.

2000 f350 superduty 4wd,6 spd. no noise or grinding when hubs are unlocked. truck has 103,000 miles. unknown on history. I just purchased vehicle. only grinds when hubs are locked and NOT engaged.

Own 1999 Ford F-450 7.3L Turbo Diesel. Needs new engine-rebuild-cost? Replace with Cummins? Need advise. Thanks.

Need to replace engine per dealer in Las Vegas. They at first thought it was only the oil pump, but $2200 later they are stating that there is something wrong in the engine and it needs to be replaced. I live in Idaho and am trying to find the best way and information to get it back on the road. Would I be better off to put a rebuilt Cummins in it for power and dependability, or a rebuilt Ford engine? What would the approximate cost of this be. Thank you for any advice.

My dome lite stays on at times even with all the doors secure. The lock alarm responds with a double honk when activated. When this is going on the "open door" warning lite shows at the dash. This happens intermittently. It will be fine for a while then has this fit of weird behavior.
The dome lite will stay on after the truck is restarted as well. It will go off after you drive about 20 feet thankfully. However it may do it again later,(after turning off) or it may not. Does anybody have a clue? Thanks G-bob

06 Ford F 250 4X4. Vibrates violently over 65 mph. Only 18,000 miles. Anyone know the cause?

Just bought the truck and driving home it seems that I hit a bump (nothing major) and the whole truck shook so violently that it was dangerous. It would not stop until I braked and got it down to 30 mph. I'm sure it has to do with front drive train of the 4X4 or the anti-lock braking system. It is still under warranty and it must be fixed, but I want to be as smart as I can before I return it to the dealer. Thanks, Realdeal nm

My truck drives great with plenty of power with no load applied. When I hook up a trailer, whether it's 1000 pounds or 10,000 pounds, It turns into a dog. I am aware that there will be decreased performance with a load, but this truck is ridiculous. My former 2002 Excursion with the 7.3 diesel towed much better than this truck. I am thinking this is a transmission problem, since performance is not effected until a load is applied. To offer a better idea of performance issues, while towing a 2100 pound trailer up a moderate grade, I am only able to sustain 50 miles an hour without taxing the turbo. Pittifull performance for a diesel engine. Anyone out there with answers?

2005 F350 6.0 powerstroke.
Drove fine then just won't backup. Goes forward great. I have no extended warranty I also do all my own mantainance so I have no service reciepts. The dealer wants to charge to figure out what broke and then call Ford. What should I do?

At idle with foot on brake, you have no power steering, once you are moving steering returns all ball joints are o/k steering feels a bit heavy once driving , the vehicle is impossible to reverse park due to the fact that you cannot turn the steering with foot on brake, I'm worried that the steering will do the same thing when I'm driving down freeway at speed and go to turn and nothing happens ,the vehicle is still under warranty after numerous times to ford dealer only to be told that ford Australia will do nothing to rectify problem , that this is how the vehicles are supposed to be , after some research i have found out that their are 65 f250 utes currently in Australia with the same problem , I'm hoping someone can help with this problem

Ford F-250 Super Duty front end vibration when you hit a bump. Put in 4WD with hubs unlocked it stops -not a wobble or shimmy.

I have replaced the steering stabilizer and the tie rods recently.The left front hub assembly was replaced last year(10-07).The right side hub assembly was changed approx.two and a half years ago,still in good condition.This vibration feels like a bad wheel bearing.I don't understand what makes this stop by switching to 4wd with the hubs unlocked.I switched to manual warn brand hubs about three years ago.I have talked to a couple of people about this problem and they think that I'm talking about a wobble or wheel shimmey.This not either.I had a truck that did this before.

I'm have a transmission replace in my 199 Ford F-250 ,4x4 w/ automatic transmission. The mechanic bouught a transmission for a junkyard.Trans is supposed to be the right one. When they went to install it,the 1" spline shaft seemed to long . They could not insert it , or get it it remove out . They could wiggle it but no luck elsae wise . Is there a trick to remove or inserting it ?

Stock vehicle. No lift. 4x4 (FX4). Prefer to stay with 16" Rims. I've seen 305/75R16 on one but don't know if it was lifted. Don't want the tires rubbing on turns or under moderate load.

when driving on highway at 65mph temp is fine when go up to 70 mph temp goe's in the red BUT buy the time you stop pop the hood the temp is back to normal. I have changed the water pump,stat,and coolet. Have been told I have a bad head gasket but I don't lose any coolent starts fine and no smoke. NOW when al this started my shift on the fly quit working and I can't get any heat out of the heater (even when temp is in the red)the 4 wheel drive will work if the hubs are locked in. I have also put two bottles of some wammy block sealer in and it didn't help. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a 2005 Ford F-350 super duty and I am unable to find out where you can hook anything into the Aux switches.

2003 F-250 diesel. Have replaced the alternator three times since December 22nd 2008. Cost a small fortune at the dealer but they cannot fine anything wrong. After about twenty minutes of ideal time alternator gets so hot you can fry eggs on it. Have installed two new batteries about two weeks ago and still have the same problem. Alternator now gone again. Batteries don't seem to be draining as I used a amp meter while the truck is off and no load. While engine is running and everything off total load is about 25 amps. I am at a loss here with a truck that I cannot use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Bought my 2000 Ford F 250 SD 4x4 new. since it went out of warranty, it has warped the front rotors every 5000-6000 miles. I have bought several aftermarket HD rotors and replaced front calipers,but still have problem. Dealer has no answer. I don't tow or carry heavy loads. Mileage 141,000. I can tell when oil change is due when rotors start to warp.

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty 7.3. Dealer put in glow plugs and charged me $1150.00. I feel I was had.

I am in the process of purchasing a used 2003 Ford F250 Super Duty with the 5.4L engine. It contains the Towing Package. What it included in the original Tow Package. If not specified in the package, how do I determine the Towing Axle Ratio? I am trying to determine the maximum reasonable weight of a travel trailer that I can tow and most of the specs. vary the weight based on the Towing Axle Ratio.

Okay my F350 has been an awesome truck and it's my baby. Recently I went outside and noticed antifreeze on the driveway I crawled under can't locate a leak anywhere. I drove the vehicle and then placed a pan under the vehicle that night to see how much it was leaking got like 5 drops in the pan yet when I drive down the road I can smell antifreeze like it's leaking on the engine. There is no antifreeze in the oil (Thank God). Any place else I should look or advice?

I am getting 10mpg city driving in my diesel. What could be the problems? I miss my Dodge Cummins I would get 18 - 20 mpg. I am just a girl that pulls a horse trailer, don't know many details on my truck. It did have a Bully Dog removed from it before I bought it. There are also high aggresion tires on it.

Anyone have a problem with Lucas oil additive burning up the Turbo in 2003 F-350 Superduty?

The only thing we've done differently is the Lucas. Started (white) smoking and lost power. The engine runs, but oil runs out of the tailpipe. Dipstick says oil level is correct. Notified Lucas but so far have not heard from them.

i have a 2002 ford f450sd with a v10 and recently had the tube that goes throught the column replaced due to sticking and not aligning correct. approx 1 week after replacing when you engage the truck into reverse it engages the starter and attempts to try to run the fly wheel causing it to make the noise a car would make as it was already running. it has been sitting at a dealership for 2 days, when you shift it into drive you have to go passed the reverse and it tries it there as well. housing is all tight, not motor mount is broke, and everything else seems to be fine.

I have a 2003 6.0 diesel Ford F-250. Going along and lose speed and finally died. Won't restart. replaced IPR, FICM & ICP.

I have 130000 on the truck. Change oil regularly. ICP was replaced along with wiring harness by Ford last summer. Mechanic has replace IPR and FICM with no luck. Had absolutely no prolem until last week. Going about 55 MPH when noticed that the speed was dropping. Pushing accelerator did no good. Went about another mile at slow speed and died. Waited about 1 hr and it restarted but would only go 20 mph at tops. Finally died again after about 2 miles. Started at the garage but would not accelerate and finally died again.

2004 Ford F-250 Super Duty is downshifting on not so steep grades, only pulling a bassboat.What's the cause? 94,000 miles.

I own a 2004 F250 6.0. Truck downshifts with light loads (bass boat) on not so steep grades. Buddy has 2003 6.0 that doesn't downshift. Drove both of them and it seems in mine I have to push the gas pedal further down. This leads me to believe it's a fuel problem. I have had all recalls done as well. Have ran a cold air intake on it since 50k. What could be problem?

Truck has approx 86,500 miles; she is a one ton dually and I haul gooseneck trailors. Miles traveled 250 round trip hauling 5 ton hay. Horses couple times a year. Since the fuel costs increased she has been parked ALOT. Driving only when necessary. She wouldn't go out of reverse last night; turned her off; clutch was at the floor board with lots of play. Than after starting again the clutch acted as if it was working part of the way down. Was able to get her into second gear and drove her home about six miles. She was towed away and I was told they checked the hydraulics (clutch)? Wouldn't know until they got into it if it was the fly wheel or springs? My husband got stuck a few weeks ago in clay mud and had an empty horse trailor on. She has always been difficult to shift according to some male drivers but she has been good with me. I just figured it was her temperment. Did I do damage driving her home that distance in second gear?
