My Ford F-250 will start and run but will die. No rough running or anything just shut off. I change the fuel filter and fuel pump. But like I said, let it set and it will start and run not long. Some times it will run for about four or five miles. Battery lite and gauges light come on after it dies. <br><br>The cam sensor was changed last year.<br>

the grinding seems to be comming from hubs, but as i said brand new hubs. if i engage 4x4 and not lock hubs.....no grinding....once i lock hubs the grinding starts. i tell my buddy i feel it under my floorboard, he says he feels it same place. one freind claims drive shaft in front a litttle loose, but i am at a loss. i already dumped 500.00 in 2 new hubs that i didnt have to do and cant afford to keep spending that tyle of money to troubleshoot.

bought a 1977 ford f250 with a 300 6cyl engine. Has set for 3 years and had some old gas. put in ocantane booster and carb cleaner in the tanks. had to replace the starter Once the truck starts it is unable to stay running and keeps back firing and dying everytime we take our foot off the gas petal. the carb has a tiny little leak but not enough to effect anything and it also just wont start until I pour some gas or starter fluid in the carb. Added a tune up kit without any results. Please let me know any suggestions Im pretty much car/truck retarded so any info would be a life saver. Thanks, Molly

Thanks for reply. 1977 Ford f250 6 cyl. 300 engine. we bought it one week ago. Previous owner was a mechanic and replaced engine has 40,000 miles. Was daughters truck ran perfectly no problems but daughter went away to college and owner let the truck set for 3 years. but kept maintained. We purchased it and immediately cylnoid and cables melted. replaced starter, cylnoid, cables. filled both tanks still has some old gas. when truck starts will run for a few minutes. starts cutting out everytime you take your foot off the gas and continually keeps back firing. as stated earlier I need to pour some gas in the carburetor to start it but not every time. today replaced muffler, cleaned rotor and replaced distributor,fuel/air filters, has good spark and compression. Newer carburetor with sm. leak. Thank you so much for any replys and I do hope this information helps. thanks again, also the side of the truck and glove compartment says ranger on it, but it isnt a ranger any Ideas? The Truck has dual tanks on the same side, the main and auxillary which is which?

1968 Ford F250 will not start.

This was my grandfathers truck and he always used it until he became ill. It's a 1968 Camper Special V8 (gas) and I believe the engine size is a 5.9 Ltr. It was parked in an open field for almost 6 years and was never turned. Now that we have towed it to our house we started to work on it and it will not start. We've purchased a new battery for it and also changed the Spark Plugs, Distr. Cap&amp;Rotor, Points, Coil and fresh gasoline, we have also used starting fluid and still,,, no start. it sounds like it wants to. But no Start. <br><br>We have also checked for fuel and it appear that it is being fed to the carburator however, I'm not sure if it is enough. Any information as to what else to do will be greatly appreciated.<br><br>Hopefully you can help. I'd love to restore this beautiful truck.

My dome lite stays on at times even with all the doors secure. The lock alarm responds with a double honk when activated. When this is going on the &quot;open door&quot; warning lite shows at the dash. This happens intermittently. It will be fine for a while then has this fit of weird behavior. <br> The dome lite will stay on after the truck is restarted as well. It will go off after you drive about 20 feet thankfully. However it may do it again later,(after turning off) or it may not. Does anybody have a clue? Thanks G-bob

you answered my question and i appreciate it...... it turns out my check engine lt is burnt out and was throwing a code. once the code was ran it turns out it is a sensor on the transmission. we ordered it and fixed the check engine lt on it. i have another question for you. i have a 2002 ford f250 when 4x4 is engaged and hubs locked it grinds bad. i replaced both bearing hubs as they are 1 piece and still have a problem. have any ideas&gt; thanks again...matt

Just bought the truck and driving home it seems that I hit a bump (nothing major) and the whole truck shook so violently that it was dangerous. It would not stop until I braked and got it down to 30 mph. I'm sure it has to do with front drive train of the 4X4 or the anti-lock braking system. It is still under warranty and it must be fixed, but I want to be as smart as I can before I return it to the dealer. Thanks, Realdeal nm

My truck drives great with plenty of power with no load applied. When I hook up a trailer, whether it's 1000 pounds or 10,000 pounds, It turns into a dog. I am aware that there will be decreased performance with a load, but this truck is ridiculous. My former 2002 Excursion with the 7.3 diesel towed much better than this truck. I am thinking this is a transmission problem, since performance is not effected until a load is applied. To offer a better idea of performance issues, while towing a 2100 pound trailer up a moderate grade, I am only able to sustain 50 miles an hour without taxing the turbo. Pittifull performance for a diesel engine. Anyone out there with answers?

At idle with foot on brake, you have no power steering, once you are moving steering returns all ball joints are o/k steering feels a bit heavy once driving , the vehicle is impossible to reverse park due to the fact that you cannot turn the steering with foot on brake, I'm worried that the steering will do the same thing when I'm driving down freeway at speed and go to turn and nothing happens ,the vehicle is still under warranty after numerous times to ford dealer only to be told that ford Australia will do nothing to rectify problem , that this is how the vehicles are supposed to be , after some research i have found out that their are 65 f250 utes currently in Australia with the same problem , I'm hoping someone can help with this problem

I have replaced the steering stabilizer and the tie rods recently. The left front hub assembly was replaced last year(10-07).The right side hub assembly was changed approx.two and a half years ago, still in good condition. This vibration feels like a bad wheel bearing.I don't understand what makes this stop by switching to 4wd with the hubs unlocked.I switched to manual warn brand hubs about three years ago.I have talked to a couple of people about this problem and they think that I'm talking about a wobble or wheel shimmey. This not either.I had a truck that did this before.

2003 Ford F-250 diesel 6L alternator gets hot.

2003 F-250 diesel. Have replaced the alternator three times since December 22nd 2008. Cost a small fortune at the dealer but they cannot fine anything wrong. After about twenty minutes of ideal time alternator gets so hot you can fry eggs on it. Have installed two new batteries about two weeks ago and still have the same problem. Alternator now gone again. Batteries don't seem to be draining as I used a amp meter while the truck is off and no load. While engine is running and everything off total load is about 25 amps. I am at a loss here with a truck that I cannot use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Bought my 2000 Ford F 250 SD 4x4 new. since it went out of warranty, it has warped the front rotors every 5000-6000 miles. I have bought several aftermarket HD rotors and replaced front calipers, but still have problem. Dealer has no answer. I don't tow or carry heavy loads. Mileage 141,000. I can tell when oil change is due when rotors start to warp.
