This happens most of the time, however it will occasionally push right in. The button when not in park pushes in pushes in all the time to shift to reverse, back to park etc..

1997 Taurus GL No one (even Ford) can find out why the power-steering hose pops off when the weather gets cold. Living in Alaska, we always have cold weather (below 25 below zero) in winter. I have had the hoses/clamps/etc replaced so many times and a new power steering unit replaced also. What could be causing this? I do start the car & let it warm up before driving, I also move the steering wheel back & forth little by little before I start to drive. Nothing seems to work. This winter, replaced the power-steering hose with a new heavy-duty hose (made for AK) when I put in a new transmission. Haven't even been 400 miles since replacement and it came off again. Does ANYONE have any suggestions? It is sitting back at the shop again. I have used so many shops and mechanics, each until they give up. Doesn't do this in the summer. I do have battery heater, oil heater, block heater and plug them in at 20 degrees (above zero) for at least several hours before use. I let the car warm up for at least 15+ minutes when it gets to twenty below and colder. The hose pops off usually when I start the car, sometimes when I start to move. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! amy

Trying to pull motor on 98 Taurus 3.0 got every thing took loose and the torque converter but can't get the trans and the engine to separate won't even budge, any ideas or maybe anybody know of a rogue bolt and its location because I've looked all over up and down trying to figure out what is holding it can't find anything

I have a 94 Ford Taurus...All of a sudden this morning, it wont go out of PARK!!!
Any ideas? I am hoping its not the whole tranny...need a miracle I am going to assume...So if you know anything about these cars...any advice will be helpful!!
Never had any problems w/it...fluid is good and clean.
The only problem that we can figure...is when you accelerate...it jumps. Not everytime..but if you really try to accelerate suddenly...like on the freeway ..changing lanes quickly...or if you accelerate too quickly at a light or stop sign...
Please...can anyone tell me what might be going on?? I already got screwed by the guy who sold it to me...so honest advice only...

spare tire mounts in the rear quarter panel on the drivers side from within the trunk.

Wagon does have original third row seat.

My Ford Taurus had no water or antifreeze in it and was smoking. When I let it cool off and put water in, it's running out engine.

i parked my car from driving 4 bout 15 mins away i got out and the car was smoking from under the hood now i havent put any antifreeze or water insidee of it for a while in the radiator so it was smokey for a while i let it cool and tried to put some water in it and i see ahole on the lower part of the engine on the left its a silver circle and bout the size of a 50 cent piece and u can see the little hole what i want to know is it danerous if i try to drive it to a mechanic or possibly even home now i am not poitivley sure if it is the seal for sure thats what a cop told me do u think it wil cost alot to get it fixed or what else do u think may b wrong

Firm I have car serviced at suspected, but ruled out other options, such as spring, shocks, ball joints, etc. Final recommendation was approx $1,600 to replace struts and mounts. Reasonable?

I'm in the process of replacing the Struts on an '04 Taurus. Followed the instructions in the box and when I got to the point where is said, "Roll the strut out of the knuckle", I still had 1/2 an inch of strut in the knuckle. I moved the position of the jack stands, put all four corners in the air, half loosened this and half tightend that, bought the Haynes Manual, got a bigger pry bar, nothing! Am I missing some silly thing? Did the Auto Parts Store (closed for the day) loan me the wrong spring compressor and I should compress the springs while still in the strut column?

I replaced rear brake lines on my 1995 Ford Taurus with 4 wheel disc brakes. I cant get pressure at calipers to bleed.

Rough idle only when climate control is in one the air conditioning modes. No roughness when air conditioning is off. Not afffected by temperature. Tried new IAC with no change. Car runs great except when idling in an air condtioning mode.

I have a 99 Taurus the coolant reservoir keeps cracking in the same location and from the pressure blows the coolant out its mounted securely and the cracks are not by any mounting locations seams or anything loose or vibrating i have changed the res and cap three times now not sure what is causing it to keep doing this.

i just put a new one in about 2 months ago which is the third one with a new cap shouldn't the caps pressure release prevent it from over pressurizing so its doesn't' crack it was a aftermarket one that just cracked on me again it cracks along the bottom edge every time.

i bought a 1995 ford taurus that had been in an accident and the 2 front engine cradle bolts were ripped out i replaced the bolts the rest of the suspention seems to be ok replaced sway bar link too but when you back up the 2 front tires fold out on the bottom of the rim

My Ford is making a constant squeak sound. Driving down the road it sounds like a old spring bed. When stopped and turning the wheel it can be heard on the drivers side. I had it checked at 2 places one said it was the ball joint the other said it was the struts in front. I'm not sure if its one the other or both. the car has 120k on it. Mark

Its a 2000 Taurus with the Vulcan engine (single ohc engine), it pings like crazy when hot. Ive replaced all the EGR system (valve, DPFE and pressure sensor, mass air flow meter and the coolant temp sensor, and it still pings, im looking at the upstream O2 sensors, not throwing any codes and otherwise runs great. It has 119000 miles on it. Any ideas where I should be looking that I have not looked yet?

Rear drums will not come off. They have never been serviced they still had the washers on the lug nut studs. Removed the washers loosened the e brake cable and they turn freely but will not come off. It is like the shoes are grooved into the drums keeping them from sliding off. But like I said they spin easy. Not sure what could be holding them on. Removed the rubber plug where you would normally do to adjust the brakes, but there is no adjustments in there to adjust with my brake adjuster tool. Looking for some answers to what else I need to do to remove the drums

My car was making noises when turning like a whining. At that point the power steering pump boiled out all of the fluid. I had it replaced, but now I can not keep fluid level high enough to maintain power steering. It continues to boil out until I have no power steering left. I am concerned that it could be a steering rack problem, but I am not sure.
Is there an easy test I can do myself to check what this might be?

this car runs GREAT when running but just stops while driving. can be interstate at 55 or in town at 30 - 40 - 45. just like someone cuts off fuel to it. sometimes will refire immediately most of the time not. wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 24 hours but will restart and run. am totally baffled. service tech with Ford for over 20 years. can't figure this out. would appreciate ANY input.

It retails for about $190.00 new from Ford. I need to find it at a lower price. I am piecing all the parts together to overhaul the A/C and our budget is limited. It started after an ice but its warmed up and still won't work. Also coudln't unlocked doors with drivers doors but this has fixed itself.

2004 Ford Taurus stalls without warning. Re-starts okay. Dealer can't find problem. Happens several times a month.

dealer has replaced distributor wire assembly, sensor assembly, synchronizer assembly, valve assembly/throttle air, camshaft position sensor and synchronizer, cleaned mass air flow, reprogrammed pcm and replaced iac valve, plug wires, induction cleaning, fuel pump, and oxygen sensor. might drive 400 miles before it stalls again.
