The brakes on my 07 Silverado classic would not completely release. The truck has 10,360 miles on it. The dealer charged me to fix it. Chevrolet customer service agreed with the dealer saying that even though nothing is mentioned in the owners manual about it service should have been done to prevent it. The dealer "gave me a break". The bill could have been $399.00 but they only charged me $119.00. According to customer service this "preventive" service could be necessary every 5 to 7 thousand miles.

Recently installed upper intermediate steering shaft on a Chevy Silverado 01 and now have lost locking steering column.

I took my 01 Silverado with 32Km original miles to the dealer to fix my knocking and studdering when I turned the wheels left or right. Dealer reported the upper intermediate steering shaft and power steering box needed replacement. I drove it to the dealer and it felt I had manual steering.

Tried to get the intermediate steering shaft part at NC but they wouldn't do it. Said their wasn't a recall so I had to pay the full $270 dollars. When I drove away and parked the truck in my garage the steering column doesn't lock anymore. I can still rock the steering wheel and usually it clicks into a lock condition, but not anymore. Shouldn't the steering wheel lock when the ignition key is removed? I think it must be something the GM techs forgot to put back on or does this new upper intermediate steering shaft cause the lack of a locking steering column. I`ll have to drive all the way back. Do you agree the steering column for a 01 should lock? I read something about the 2002 and up that don`t lock after the upper intermediate steering shaft is replaced .

My slave cylinder replacement didn't go as planned on my 1992 Chevy 1500. Where might I have messed up?

I was replacing the slave cylinder on my 1992 Chevy 1500 truck after bleeding the system the clutch pedal got very stiff and would not depress to the floor to where I could start the truck when I put some force down on the pedal it blew a hole in the rubber part of the line. When I put the slave in it had a plastic piece that came around the piston and hooked in at the sides of the cylinder. On the old one that piece was still hooked in but there was an obvious place that it looked like it had been cut so I cut this before I put it in. Know I am thinking that this might have been for alignment purposes and that the actual pressure from the clutch would break this plastic and that the push rod wasn't lined up. Am I right in this thinking or is there something else I might have done wrong?

I noticed an exhaust? rattle that would happen at 1400-1600RPM on my 1500 work truck, 6cyl 4.3 litre auto when it was cold and under slight load....especially when the outside temp was below 40.

The dealer replaced my muffler and tailpipe (best warranty experience ever!), and the noise was ALMOST eliminated.

Anyone else with similar experience? It is very noticeable, and sounds terrible. Otherwise, everything works great.

I have a 95 GMC Sierra K1500 5.7 V8. It has 230,000 miles, but runs well except for one problem. It always idles perfect. When the engine is cold, it runs fine. But when the engine is hot, it still idles fine, but wants to stall with a little gas. After about 1800rpm, it runs fine again. It won't stall completely, just lopes surges along until it hits a higher rpm.

Any advice would be wonderful, trying to get another 2 years out of this truck!

sincerely,
mark

I have a 92 Chev C1500 4X4 pickup. When I stop I hear and feel a clunk and it happens also when I take off. Chev says it is the typical drive line slack where the yoke slides in and out of the trans tail piece. There has got to be a solution. I have replaced U joints, checked mounts and dif, and used the blue grease on the yoke splines. When I use the grease it works for a few days and then back to normal. I see in the chat forum that it is still a problem so has chev found a solution? Maybe you could recommend a super lube or something? The truck is cherry and I love it, but the clunk is sure a bummer.

96 Chevy 1500 pickup. The AC/Heat comes on but I am getting little air if any coming from vents. What is the problem?

Air and heat works but it seems that the fan is blocked off from the vents, somehow. You can actually here the vents moving when I have it blowing on the floor but still the airflow is not what it should be. Any help is appreciated.

This truck ran fine until I had my son use it to jump my car with a dead battery. After that, it will turn over fine, but not start. I was told it could be the coil or the ignition module. I replaced both and it still will not start.

I have a intermittent no-start problem with my 1996 Chevy Pickup C1500 with the 4.3L V6.

When I try to start the dash lights come on but the starter does not crank. After several attempts it sometimes will start on its own. If not, I try to jump start it, sometimes that helps, but sometimes it does not. I also have been switching the starter and A/C relays (they are identical), sometimes that solves the problem.

I was curious if anyone here had some suggestions on things to try to fix this problem.

Thanks for your help.

Phil

My 1989 Chevy Silverado started stalling on me the other day. It will start but dies when I push the accelerator. Help?

My 1989 Chevy Silverado started to stall on me a few days ago. It seemed to happen all of a sudden and when I push down on the accelerator the truck wants to stall or die. It will basically start ok and idle normal to sometime a bit high. I've replaced the fuel filter and two different throttle body censors but not the MAP censor. It's got 165,000 miles on it and the motor has a bit of a knock to it. It's got good oil pressure and I had given it a prior tune-up with plugs, seafoam and lucas in the oil.
I'm not a mechanic but I'm not affraid to fix something myself. Please respond soon and thanks for your help.
