My 2005 yukon xl is having speedometer problems. What is my best bet to fix this?

I will be driving along and look down to see that I'm going 0mph on the freeway. It will stay at 0 or be about 20 mph under what I think the speed is. It doesn't do this on every driving trip, but enough that it is becoming a problem. The local dealership wants $600 to replace the instrument panel to fix the problem. Isn't this something GMC should be covering?

first pump went bad while trying to back up a trailer in a tight area( shaft broke) Flushed system and replaced pump, had power steering for about a week, came home and parked truck when I went to go back out no power steering. replaced pump again, didn't fix problem, replaced gear box and pitman arm(arm due to loose fit) still no power steering. There appears to be some sort of flow switch on the pump but cant find any info on it. anyone know what is causing my problem? this is an 2000 Yukon with the 5.3 engine thanks for your time. the electrical connection on the pump appears to go to some sort of switch on the steering column.

Interior brake cable on 2001 GMC Yukon broke. How do I release the foot pedal?

2001 Yukon. The emergency brake pedal has been depressed. When I went to release it the cable broke, leaving the pedal depressed. The actual rear wheel emergency brake assembly is broken so having the pedal depressed doesn't hinder the driving of the truck. However, when driving with the pedal depressed, the emergency brake alarm makes excessive amounts of noise. Is there a way to release the interior emergency brake pedal before I replace the broken cable?

Thanks.

Barry

I have a 2007 GMC Yukon SLE 4x4 with 32000 miles on it. The front end bounces and porpoises almost to the point of loosing control when I am driving on the freeway and hit rough roads, It jounces (plunges down and then up) at slow speed when going over curbs or speed bumps.. doesn't matter if its empty or fully loaded. My old 2001 SLE (with 170k on it) never had this problem on the same roads.

The dealer check it out and says the shocks are ok, no leaks etc. The GM mechanic that checked it admits it does bounce but doesn't know how to fix it.. any one else have an SLE with this issue.. the car does not have the so called auto ride option..

I have purchased a 2009 4X4 GMC Yukon equipped with Goodyear P285/50R20 111h M+S tires. The car manual says with 20" tires, it is NOT advisable to go off-road. Is that correct? I occasionally go off-road in deep sand, would these tires be ok?

2004 Yukon Knocking

Has anyone experienced a knocking or tapping sound at start up??? The noise fades as the engine warms up, usually 3-4 minutes. Ths occurs inconsistantly and could go a month without happening. It is pretty loud and can be heard equally as loud from both sides and under the engine.

Also does anyone know about coolant loss. I have put 2-3 gallons in over the last 3 months, there appears to be no external loss. Oil looks good as well, however my oil fill cap has condensation on it?????

All serious concerns I should not have with a $40,000+++ vehicle.

Thanks, Mike

2003 GMC Yukon XL , the front climate control fan doesn't blow any air, under any setting (heat/def/ etc.)except occasionally. The digital display shows that all is well, but there is no air except a faint breeze when underway. The rear HVAC system is fully functional. The front system still has cool air, so I know the compressor is still doing its job. HELP keep me away from the dealership. Truck has had 78,000 relatively trouble free miles. I am unable to locate the relay as it is not in the owners manual. Anyone know the location of the relay? Also would like to know if anyone has a wiring diagram they could send me for this.
Have an 03 Denali currently has 134,000 miles. When the noise was discovered I still had factory warranty at the time. The truck has been to the dealer 3 times and they are unable to determine where the noise and cause is from. When I make small left and right turns there sounds like a grinding noise but the noise seems to be all coming from the left front tire area. Please help... the noise is more constant now then before. Dealer believes it's safe. How when they don't know the cause. Thanks

I took my truck into the dealer and asked them once again to find out what the popping noise was that they could not figure out the last 3 times. Since we are going on a road trip this summer want to make sure everything is safe. Well they diagnosed the problem as you said was wrong. I did not inform them of your answer. I drove it to work today for the first time after the repair and there was still a slight popping noise is this something I should bring back up to the dealer that it's still not fixed or could it be another issue? Please advise. Thanks for your help.

obyone,
If I use the hazard flashers or bother the swithch on my 99 Yukon XL, the brake lights won't work. I keep a piece of paper next to the switch to keep the brake lights working properly. Also, there are times when I try to start the engine and it turns over, but will not start. It acts like I have turned it off. If I move the hazard switch it seems to work but then it may or may not affect the brake lights. Could this be just a wire shorting out in the steering column or a problem in the main fuse box under the hood? When I apply pressure on the brake i hear a click noise also. The other day I shut the engine off and after I had the key out I heard several clicking noises and then one louder one. I havent taken it to a dealership yet, was hoping to find some input here. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

You shut off key wait 30 secs and restart and it is fine for about 90 secs then will not go above an idle, Injectoors are fine timing is fine the only thing we can find is fuel pressure is down to about 55 psi but steady. Any ideas? No codes and a garage has looked it over and confirmed all electronics are in proper order.

I have a 03 GMC Denali and 8 months ago I replaced my battery due to my alternator shorting out. Now my alternator shorted again.

In February 2008 my battery died due to my alternator shorting out. I replaced the battery and the GM dealership installed a new alternator under warranty. Just this month I was driving home when my battery light turned on and the display read "battery not charging" would come on. I took my vehicle to the nearest GM dealership and they replaced the alternator with a new one under warranty due to it shorting out again. I haven't jump started any vehicles. Why is my alternator shorting out within 8 months? What causes an alternator to short out? Has anyone else had this problem with the GMC Yukon Denali?

I have a new Yukon. It has buttons rather than a stick for 4wd H and L as was the case in my older Suburban. Do I hit the 4wd button while moving at a slow pace or push the button while in a stationary position? Please try to reply before the first Pennsylvania snow. wink. Thank you.

95 GMC Yukon SLT 4x4 5.7L Rear Barn doors with ac
My heater only blows cold air, The heater valve has been replaced because it was leaking. The old valve had a vacuum line fitting going to it but I have not been able to locate the source of the vacuum. I have the valve wired open by no heat. The blower comes on at all required speeds. The mechanical mechanism open and closes the doors in the center of the dash.

Really not looking forward to winter in PA without heat!!!
