I want to expand my stock portfolio into the automotive sector and it would be helpful to know how the different manufacturers stack up with regard to sales and growth. Are the latest sales figures available anywhere?

What is your prediction on the winners for the North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards?

Well, we at GM are pretty proud that four of our vehicles are in the running for the award. The Buick Enclave and Chevy Tahoe Hybrid are in the truck category and the '08 Chevy Malibu and '08 Cadillac CTS are in the car category. The Honda Accord and Mazda CX-9 are the other two vehicles in the running. So who do you think it will be?

Looking for a donation for a group of children with autism. Need an 8 passenger van to see the world outside.

Children with autism need to visit public places such as grocery stores, malls, libraries so they can learn the social and self-help skills that the rest of us are born with. Dear Mr. Shiftright,
I had asked about the last 100% American made car and you had referred me to a couple of sites that spoke about "domestic" vehicles being 75% American made. But I am actually looking for the Real McCoy. I have a feeling they were before the oil embargo of the early 1970's. Most of the cars that have been owned by me and my husband range from 1968 to 1974. I have tried almost everywhere looking for an answer. If possible, I would like to learn NEW pricing info. on autos sold during that year. Domestic autos but especially British autos like MGB's, Triumphs, Jaguars, etc. sold in the US in 1977 and any other related issues would be helpful.

My 1997 Ford Escort is now a piece of crap. I'm lucky if it gets 15mpg on the highway plus it isn't worth more than $700. I checked and found that when it was new 12 years ago the MPG rating was 22mpg. I checked the Edmunds.Com list of 'elibible' vehicles and it wasn't listed. So why wouldn't this or similar car be eligible for Cash for Clunkers since it's no longer the car it used to be and get $4500 towards a new car getting 25+ mpg?

I have a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis...How can I find out what the COMBINED MPG for this car?

The New "Cash for Clunkers" bill says Passenger cars from 1984 or newer with combined miles per gallon ratings of 18 or less are eligible. I have a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. Does anyone know where I can go to see if this car qualifies?

I work at a dealer and am only being paid a mini when I sell a car under this plan. The management says they get the difference between invoice and Employee Purchase price. GM usually pays the dealer a percentage of msrp to pay sales and for prep costs.

I have a 2003 Passat Wagon whose style and functionality work perfectly for me and my family. Drives well, decent MPG, can move large items in the back when the seats are down. Its a great car in all areas except reliability and cost to own. Within 15 days of my warranty expiring, I had paid almost $2000 in repair bills (zero sympathy from VW). Am getting ready to buy a Honda Accord which appears to have almost everything I want in a car, except ability to carry large items, like a midsize station wagon can. I just surfed into some photos of a Honda Tourer Station Wagon and it appears to be my Passat Wagon with Honda reliability! Is there any hope that this car is coming to the US anytime soon, it's EXACTLY what I want!

I have read many posts on these forums of people who say they will only buy a V8 car. I can understand that insistance if you have a truck or an SUV that tows or hauls heavy things. As far as cars goes I no longer see the advantage of a V8

Modern V6s are incredibly powerful and very refined. The BMW 335 and Infinity G37 will run from 0-60 in under 5.5 seconds. This is faster than a Northstar STS from a few years ago. In fact the G37 at 327Hp is stronger than the Caddy's 320Hp Northstar from the STS. Fords twin turbo eco-boost is expected to provided 350Hp and near flat torque off the line. My Dad in Law's 2008 V6 Accord runs dead silent at 75 Mph on the highway. Some people say its for the sound of a V8, but modern cars are so heavily insulated that the the exhuast sounds a mile away and the engines in the majority of cars made this day and age are nearly silent in most driving conditions.
