Isuzu Trooper. I was told production stopped in the early 90's for a year or two, then resumed with a body style change. Is this true?

A parts specialist told me that there was a year or two in the 90's that troopers weren't made. So hypothetically no such animal could exist as a '91 or '92 model? I had an '86 and currently own an '88. This comes up every so often and I want it settled for sure.

We just bought my 2000 Isuzu Trooper last week. The brake light started coming on two days after we bought it. It was low of brake fluid. Could something major be wrong or is it normal for it to use brake fluid like this?

One year later I replaced it again, two weeks later replaced another one, two weeks after that you guessed it another one. My vehicle is in the shop now and yes same problem. My mechanics can't explain why this is going on and they have been unable to get information from the manufacture why this is occurring.

P0101 MAF Circuit Malfunction, P0300 Random cylinder misfire, P0401 EGR Flow insufficient. I have a 96 Isuzu Trooper, I replaced the EGR valve in Oct. The codes were cleared and I still get this code. My thoughts were the O2 sensor. I have 168,000 miles on it. I NEED to get these resolved, I have to go on a trip next weekend.
Sincerely,
Donna B

I have a 1996 Isuzu Trooper LS that I want to add a tow bar/package to so I can pull a small camper (not pop up). Has anyone else done this and how hard is it to do myself (as in a friend doing welding etc). Also what am I looking at in cost. My vehicle info says I can tow up to 5000 lb.
Any info would be appreciated. I have done some WEB searching without much success and am (of course!) a single woman with NO idea on stuff like this!
My grandkids are excited about a summer camping trip with Nanna!

I noticed the chain loose while replacing the valve cover gaskets. The tensioner between the Cam sprockets seems to be sticking up on the taut chain and seems to be sitting down on the base. I could not find anything in the manual I had. I am not talking timing belt. This is a chain between the dual cams under the valve cover.

I have a 1991 V6 Isusu Trooper that just had a rebuilt transmission and ran great. I had a slight miss in it a few weeks ago but only minor. I put a few gallons of gas in it and drove 500 feet and it died. It had electric and would turn over and had all lights etc. But acted as no fuel getting to engine. I returned to it 4 hours later and it started right up and is parked now. Do I need a new gas filter? Do I possibly have Gas pump problems or where do I go from here? I can't afford extensive mechanical repairs or guess work. Thank you for any suggestions or help.

1988 isuzu trooper 2.6 4cyl.auto trans. The timming does not have a curve when revved. Theres no check engine light.I hear a click sound from the mass airflow sensor everytime I revv the engine. The timming mark is at 12 degrees at idle and when revved it advances one time to about 17 or 20 deg or so,and stays there through out the rest of the rpm range.I have swapped the distributor with another USED one and have tried out about four different used ECM's and three used mass airflow sensors with no change to the condition. HELP! You may be my only hope.

My auto transmission started slipping yesterday in my 2001 Isuzu Trooper. It only slips in overdrive, and it only starts slipping once the temperature heats up to normal temps. If I let it cool down it will not slip on the way to work once it has rested and cooled to low or room temperature. Is there a cheap fix to this because I was given an estimate between $1,300.00 to $1,800.00 to rebuild this transmission if they have to pull it and re-installed. Please Help.

Lanier,
Georgia

I recently purchased my first Trooper. 91, II, XS, 2.8, 4wd, 5sp. It's base and I want to dress it up some. It also has aluminum (?) panels and I would like to replace those with new or something stouter. Accessories that I'm looking for are hard to find here in OKLA. I'm constantly searching the internet, ebay, salvage (do you know there's hardly any Troopers in salvage...I find that VERY encouraging!) I'm not looking to Tonka it out, but I'd like to find at least a decent roof rack, nerfs, bug shield, (yeah, go figure you can't find one of THOSE!), brush guard, rear spoiler, for starters, at reasonable prices. Anyone have ideas or know what is compatible? Jen

New transmission in Isuzu Trooper is defective. Repair shop says no more available due to manufacturer pump defect. Is this true? Help!

In Dec. 2007 the transmission in my 2001 Anniversary Edition Isuzu Trooper went out (it is an automatic w/2-wheel drive). I had it replaced at a national chain transmission repair shop. The transmission and engine lights kept coming back on and after about 10 visits back to the shop, they still didn't seem to know what the problem was. They adjusted the MLP and finally said they replaced a TCC solenoid, but the lights still came back on. They then told me they would replace the transmission and would call me back when it came in, but two weeks later still had not called. When I called them, they told me that they could not get another transmission because there was a problem with the pumps on them and Isuzu had them backordered. They said they would call when they were available. This was in April and still no call. Am I being taken, or is this a legitimate problem? It has been 6 months and I would like to get this resolved. Thanks for your help.

I just bought a used 1998 isuzu trooper with 125K on it. The other day the battery went dead, and when I inspected it the terminals were full of corrosion. I Cleaned it all up and had it charged (guys at auto zone said that it still was good). Everything seems to be good, but after I drive the car about 10 miles the temperature starts to rise. The gauge only really starts to point to the hot side after I stop moving (I think). I put in some more coolant and there has been nothing leaking, but the same problem exists after driving. Why is it still overheating?

3 weeks ago my fuel filter light went on. I drained it for water. 5 days later it had water again. It became more common and i had the fuel tank drained. I also noticed that the radiator water smelled of diesel. i looked into the overflow tank and there was diesel in there as well. /a day after draing the fuel tank my fuel filter light goes on again. So the water isn't from the tank. Where is it coming from? And why is there a mix of diesel and water in the radiator? Plus the Trooper is emmiting alot of black smoke now.

2000 Isuzu Trooper slipping in 1 and 2 gear?

I had changed the trans oil and filter and topped it off so that part is good! it is a 2000 trooper auto but still slipping in first and 2ed gear when it hits 3&4 its like new no problems! so i was looking under the truck and saw 3 elecitral conections to the trans one is to the shifting sensor i cleaned that also. one is to the speed sensor in the rear of the trans? and the other is on the driverside looks like above the trans pan looks like it might go to a sensor inside the trans???? so i notice that the wires went towards the front of the engine and i unpluged the wire harnes than i started the trooper to see if it would shift good? and it dont slip anymore! ???? and it shifs great now? thur all gears. so im thinking its something to do with a sensor? can someone help me with this problem please! the wires that i unpluged looks like thay go from the trans to the front of the engine were i unpluged them and then go to inside the cab maybe to the fuse box? or other sensors? thank you!
