I was driving my 2000 Audi A6, 2.8, V8 and all of the sudden if felt like the transmission went into neutral. I stepped in the gas and it did not move a bit but not like it normally does. Is my transmission damaged? I've heard that sometimes the transmission computer acts up and you need to re-set it. I've also heard that you can not service Audi transmissions because they are sealed. Has anyone experieced this? Can you please tell me about your experience? Thanks.

Is it now common for independ. mechanics to be using the same standard "time allocat." for repairs as dealers do?

I thought i would be getting a better deal then at the dealer on a recent tune-up and brake job on my 2005 A6 by bringing it to my local mechanic (auhtorized Audi mechanic, so the sign said). But when i got the bill, although the parts were slightly less than the dealer, I was charged 1.5 hours for changing the plugs and 5.5 hours for the brake job (front and back rotors and pads). I'm not that much of a gear head any more but I remember "in the day" that it never took me 1.5 hours to change a set of plugs, and it shouldn't take over 5 hours to do a brake job. That's why i suspect they are using the manufacturers standard costing manual to charge customers like the dealers do and not 'actual' time.

I have a 1990 audi 100 that starts and idles fine while sitting. Once I take it out and drive it and it warms up and get it to 3500 rpm's it then backloads and runs poor. It will only go about 15 - 20 mph. It continually fouls out the spark plugs. Have replaced the timing belt and reset cam timing, put on new coil, new Bosch plugs - wires - cap- rotor, new Bosch O2 sensor, cleaned throttle body, checked temperature sensing injector, fuel pressure hydraulic actuator, adjusted and set the CO on the car, new fuel pump, and checked many of the various switches around and on the engine. Today they are going to put an exact match ECU brain on the car to see how it responds. If it still runs poor at that point they are wondering where to turn next. Any ideas?

I own an Audi A6 2.0 TDI. Sometimes, (once a week or so), the engine revs by itself to 1500rpm without any reason. The gearbox is 7 speed auto. This may take from 10 to 20 mins. When you brake and slow down to almost a halt, the engine rpm drops to 1000 (not 900 which is the normal revs). Any idea what is wrong?

My 2007 audi a62.0 tdi (DPF) every few days increases revs without warning to about 1500 rpm. When at gull stop the idle speed is 1000rpm instead of the normal 900. Any idea what happens? I was told that its the EGR technology, but it seems strange to me that the engine actually pushes the car at 1500 rpm, until you come to a halt, when the revs drop to 1000

Do you know how Audi calculates the behind-the-seats cargo volume of its wagons?

Does the 09 A4 Avant wagon really only have 17.3 cu ft of space behind the rear seats, or is that some sort of mistake? That figure is lower than the '08 Avant (27.8), or even a Subaru WRX (19.0).

Audi's own site, like Edmunds.com, reports 17.3. The only other figure I found was on the EPA site (http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/Details...), which gives the Avant 27.6 cu ft.

How does Audi calculate this space? Is it different from other manufacturers for '09? Does anyone here have any insight into whether the behind-the-seats space in the Avant is really that small?

thank you

What is the "best" color for a 2009 Audi A4?

Okay, I know this is totally a personal preference, but thought I'd throw it out there for people to express their opinion about the color choices for the A4.

I'm toying between:
Meteor Grey (not sure about the deep blue color - the more I see it, the more I don't like it; looks really dull unless in bright sunshine. But I think it might grow on me...)

Quartz Grey (probably my favorite, although it sounds like it's not available anytime soon with the options I want)

Ice Silver: they liked it so much that's the only color in the brochure

Black (either regular or pearl effect): sort of generic, but classic. Everyone complains about how hard it is to keep clean, but there are sure a lot of black cars out there.

As I continue to obsess, I went out a visited another Audi dealer (on Sunday and salesperson-free!) to see what they have on their lot. Three of my top choices were (nearly) side-by-side. I snapped several iPhone pictures so I could continue to obsess.

http://albums.phanfare.com/6886050/31798...

My2009 Audi A4 has done 1600 miles and was a dealer 'demo' car. The car is great except for the tyre noise which is the worst I've ever had, especially on the concrete freeways and at real low speed. Michelin Primacy HP are fitted. Is it the tyres or the car soundproofing? anybody else noticed this? Can't get an answer from the dealer of course, and the tyre guys just say to replace them with the brand they sell. Had the wheels rotated, balanced and aligned and it only made a slight improvement. any advice will be appreciated.
thenks, Kev

I have a Audi A4 2.8 I'm looking for a parts breakdown on the engine mount parts.

The complete VIN is WAUDH28D9YA042151. I believe the car is an '00, but could possibly be an '02. I asked this question before, but the question closed, before I could get an answer.

The car was repaired at a garage, and since then has made a grinding noise on left hand turns under acceleration. I found that the left engine mount is not fastened to the engine, and I'm trying to find what parts are missing.

06 Audi A4 FWD. The car lags when accelerating from a stop. Is this normal?

2006 Audi A4 2.0T. FWD, Auto trans. 44k miles.

When you step on the gas from a dead stop, there is about a 1/2 second delay before the car starts going. It's really only a concern when you are waiting to pull out and need the car to go immediately or waiting for a gap to turn across traffic. We just purchased this car a few days ago and have never owned an Audi.

Is this normal or should we take it in for service?

99 Audi Quattro A6 Replaced oil pan after running over boulder. Runs well but oil light comes on occasionally.

While driving on mountain road ran over boulder that had fallen on roadway. Car towed for service. Diagnosis indicated oil and tranny pan ruined. After pans replaced along with filters and new oils changed, car ran well, however, oil light and beeper comes on after a few minutes after car starts. Not sure what may be wrong as the car has been driven about 2500 miles since accident. Another service and maintence person indicates problem is "oil starving engine" but I don't feel this diagnosis is accurate since car continues to run well during all this time.
Any comments would be appreciated.

I have a 2000 Audi A6 2.7T with HP2 4-Piston High Performance Front Brakes. I am tying to get the caliper off to change the front rotors and pads. When trying to get the slider pins off, I removed the caps and than inserted a 7mm hex key to remove the bolts. The 7mm hex key doesn't grip anything as there are just round hole. When I insert a smaller hex key (5.5mm or less) it passes through the hole and also will not catch on anything. Has anyone experienced this and found a way around it? I hope that the bolts are not just missing, but figure they have to be on since the caps were on and the caliper has not fallen off.

I would just take the bracket off that holds the caliper on the car, but there is a break line running directly behind the bolt that I don't want to bend too much. Has anyone encountered this and did you find a good way around it? Any help or idea's would be greatly appreciated.
