How do you change a starter on a 1984 Mercedes 300 SD

car will not start and just had a new battery installed. when you turn the key you hear a click, there are also 2 loose wires (red and black) that look as if they connect to the starter, not sure where they would go.

have a 1989 mercedes benz 300 E model, how I bring down head rest?

I've heard the best way to see if the Auto tran solenoid is out is to replace it, are other parts needed and how is it done. I can get the solenoid, do I have to order anything else? for 1983 300D turbo Mercedes

92 Mercedes-Benz 300E 4matic runs 10 minutes then dies. Let sit 30 minutes, it restarts. then dies in10 minutes. Before dying it runs rough.

on restart right after dying it almost sounds like it is out of gas i have changed fuel filter gas pressure is good.

i recently bought this car not running it had mouse damage to the wiring at the front headlamp area and fuel pump area. i repaired the wiring at the fuel pump.this got me fuel to the fuel distributor.after cranking engine and no start i remove the plugs which are fuel fouled. i connected a fuel pressure gauge to the distributor and it would peg at 100psi.i replaced the fuel pressure regulator with the same results.other things to note if i disconnect the fuel pump electricly the car will eventually start and run till it runs out of fuel.will also run on carb spray.it seems like i have accesive fuel pressure could the fuel return be clogged? and does the fuel pressure regulator need manifold vacume to operate.the fuel does smell olds the car had been sitting for 12 months.

How are Magnetti Morelli replacement parts? I am about to buy a window regulator for my 93 Mercedes 300te 4-matic

My rear left window regulator is broken. The Mercedes replacement part is about 336.00, the Morelli is about 156.00. Do you know anything about these parts. I have a cool old car, but not a lot of money.

I have a 1983 300D Turbo and none of the power windows work. The fuses and switches are OK, I believe it is the relay that needs to be replaced. I was told this is behind the dash, and the instrument panel must be removed. Before I attempt this, I'd like to get an idea of what I should be looking for and where about it is. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 2005 300C AWD and I have aproblem of a buzz/whine that appears to be coming from the dashboard. The origin is hard to localize. I have ruled out air leak around the windshield and the sort. Removed the cowl and the windshield wipers and still have the noise. The noise appears at speeds from 75 mph to 100 mphs and then continues at higher speeds. The dealership will not touch it because they will not test above the legal speed limit. Almost seems that it is sensitive to head wind but not sure. Could it be the speedometer? Is it mechanical? The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with the climate control system and that their is nothing mechanical in the dashboard. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The blower does not work and I can't fine the fuse for the blower motor. The heater fuse other than the one under the hood, Can you give suguesstion why the blower does not work?

My MB AC / Heater blower does not work. The fuse link melted, test hi amp draw. How difficult is it to R&R on the MB 300 1992.

The battery died and I had to replace it and now the radio won't work without the code. I don't have the owner's manual and I have called 2 dealerships and they won't look the info up since I am not in the market for a new one...Someone please help!!!

Hi, I have an 85 300d.It has been stood since June. The AC didnt work but the Heater did now the heater doesn't work ! I just took it out for a good run and I froze ! ( it started first time after its lay up !!) My suspicion is the " push button controls " might be the problem with both AC and Heat. Question: can I hot wire the heater circulation pump and / or the control valve to see if they work ? I don't need the Ac now but can that be hot wired to by pass the dashboard push buttons? Can I manually open the control valve to get some heat ? I have a road trip planned , won't be any fun without a heater . Any suggestions welcomed, thanks.

I removed the circulation pump as I wasn't getting heat and it appeared faulty. Basically it was ! Rather than put it back on the car I connected the two open ends with 1/2 inch copper pipe and drove the car,I had hoped heat would naturally gravitate around the system but not the case.Is there any problem with running the car without the pump ? Thanks

For some reason the engine sound like its spitting out air or sucking in, and if you play with the throttle body connector it levels off, for now the connector cables are backed out.{Gas & Cruise control} please advise thank you.

Mercedes 300 SD question, engine wont start?
Right now my engine isnt starting, First on i do the usual by waiting for the buzz of the dash board to cut off and then i turn the key all the way and then theres nothing. when i do this the electricity for everything turns off. The lights wont turn on and even the dash board or the ignition wont work until i wait for like a minuet. after the minuet i can turn on my light and the dashboard will work, but when i try to start my engine again it will just sart all over. What could be the problem to this, the relay, a loose wire, my parking break?

Right now my car will not start. the electrics are screwy right now like when i try to turn on the car the lights cant turn on and after a minute they're on. I think it might be the relay to the glow plugs thats messing everything up. when i try to start the car the little black relay box at the very right front corner of the car will start to rattle and make a sound like when a cellphone is set on vibrate and is going off on a table. Does anyone know if this could be the problem?

I have a 1981 Mercedes 300d that I bought a month ago. The car always started, and even though it was sluggish to pickup, it ran fine at speed, and gave no indication that anything was amiss.

Today, while coming from work, engine stopped while driving at 60mph. I was low on Diesel and though maybe I have run out of fuel, and put in two gallons of fuel. The car turns, but do not start. Theer was no warning that car will stop.

Not knowing much about this car or diesels, I don't know what could it be. What if it is just out of gas and there is a special procedure to start it when filling empty. I assume it is not a broken timing belt like in gas cars? Any ideas?

The climate control do not work on my 81 300D MB. When turning on the fan, it come on powerful, but then stops after a minute or two, and sometimes it just do not comes on at all. Any idea on how to debug this issue?

I am trying to remove the water pump from a 1991 Mercedes 300 CE. I am having trouble with two of the bolts. I am having a hard time reaching them. I also have trouble with two other screws that require an allen wrench to remove them.

Any help would be appreciated.

My Mercedes 300E will no move, it only has the reverse gear. Car runs great, fluids are fine, no leaks, just won't engage.

My 300E will only move in reverse. When I went to take off the car just revved up high and didn't move an inch! We checked the transmission fluid and although it was low, we did not see a leak anywhere. The car is running great, it will not engage into any of the gears except reverse. I bought the car used so I do not have any maintenance history. It's a 1993 with 250000 miles on it..please help, we love this car!

I bought a 1985 Mercedes 300td not running. The previous owner said he was driving and it just died. I have changed both fuel filters and primed it. When you go to start it the glow plug light comes on and goes right out.This is my first diesel car. I may not know the procedure to start it.

I have a 1985 300cdt, Love it, runs great but the AC doesn't work. The previous owner spent money on new parts for it, it's had a new compressor, ac switch ? Drier ? AC suction /muffler hose , R134 conversion. I know nothing about AC so where do I start? How do I know if it has gas ? should I hear the revs drop when it kicks in ? Can I visibly see anything happen at the compressor end? Does the compressor have a clutch, could it be stuck? On the bill for the parts it suggests a new "push button control unit" what would that be? Could it be an electrical switch problem? Can I bypass any switches to make the AC run? Does it have a relay? Does it have a sensor to sense the ambient temps? I know thats a lot of questions, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

PS Is it worth trying one of those do-it- yourself re-fill kits ???

I own a '91 300E Mercedes-Benz. It needs: engine belt, front suspension work, motor mounts. It's my first car. Any suggestions?

My LF door actuator was on the fritz causing my drivers side door lock to shimmy up and down but other doors would lock. Once that started happening I started hearing a buzzing that it seemed like was coming from my factory amp or sub but the display for radio, cd, and cd changer still worked. It would last about 2-3 minutes and everything would go back to normal. I came out to start it one morning and the battery was dead. I have since replaced the auxillary battery and the main battery but my display screen or radio still does not work. I need help, I'm disconnecting the battery every night so it doesn't run down.

2003 Mercedes C320 wagon sunroof acting up. Only opens/close a bit at a time. Doesn't stop at the end.

When the sunroof is opening, it only slides about an inch and then it stops. Need to let go of the switch and re-activate. Same for closing. It also will not stop when it reaches the end - so very hard to close at the right place.

Last time it happened, dealer changed the battery ($500) and then the alternator ($900) and then it was ok. That's about 1500 miles ago.

Have an 88 300CE Mercedes and I need to locate the fuse for the blower motor. It states the fuse is outside the box.

the blower isn't working. there is a power draw when I hit the fan button. i would like to check the fuse but the fuse panel on the box states that the fuse is located outside the fuse box. does anyone know where this fuse is located?

My Mercedes 300d has 135K miles. The engine is loosing power. When going up a hill or even small grade, it runs our of steam much quicker than three months ago when I bought it. The pick up is not that great either, and transmission shifts early.

Couple of questions -
How do I determine if engine needs repair or if car needs a tune up, and if tune up, what needs to be changed. If engine, what does it take to overhaul.

Is there a way to adjust transmission if it is shifting early. How do I know if transmission needs work rather than engine. What does transmission cost on these cars?

Here is the history. The car was blowing warm air with the air conditioning on. I saw that the compressor clutch was not engaging so I jumped it from the battery and it started turning and now it won't cycle on and off. Is this a sign that I need to replace the compressor?
