I need help with a 2000 Mercedes CLK 430 stalling.

My 2000 CLK 430 (75,000 mi.) stops on me while driving usually when slowing down to a stoplight etc. Usually starts right back up but also won't start at all sometimes when cold, in the morning, evening, could be anytime. It's becoming more & more frequent. I wait a while & try again and it starts. Also has been idling a little rough. No check engine light just a warning "oil overfill" recently after having the oil changed. Makes me think it could be related...Anyway mechanic cannot recreate problem nor is there a code stored in the car's computer. Read where one person here said it was the crank position sensor & after it was replaced it solved the problem. My mechanic said this also and suggests replacing it $115 for the part + labor of course. Anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do to correct it? Very frustrating not to mention dangerous, especially when it happens when you're in the middle of traffic! Any information is appreciated. Thanks JP

I prefer to have my Navigation active when I am driving, so the map is displayed on the screen. Sometimes I like to drive in silence, though, but I can't figure out how to have the map displayed, yet have neither the radio or cd on. I'll admit I haven't made it through the 237 pages of the COMAND manual, though.

Can I return a leased Mercedes without a hassle if one of the tires has a different speed rating?

I have a few more months left on my CLK before it goes back. The other day, one of the front days went on it (the other front had gone about 2 months ago and I had it replaced). Unfortunately, that exact model is discontinued (it was a SportContact 2, 91Y). However, I have bveen able to find the same model except with a different speed rating, 91W. I know that it doesn't matter for my purposes, and I would be happy to get the tire.

BUT here's my question - does anyone know if Mercedes will notice or care that the speed rating is slightly different? Or should I just go ahead and get the new SportContact 3, even though the tread looks different on it (therefore making the tires not look the same :(

Any ideas??

The car was last driven Saturday evening and was parked until this afternoon around 4PM, got in started it up and there was the noise again. What can this be. The noise seems to go away once I start driving it.
Thanks,
Sonja
'02 CLK 320 Cabriolet (57,727 miles) vs. '05 or '06 C230 (30-48,000 miles) Mercedes-Benz?

Love the luxurious interior, convertible, tight ride, & little larger back seat of the CLK and convertible. Just wonder how wise it is to buy a seven year old car vs. a younger model of a slightly lesser level of car (CLK is 1000 lbs heavier). The older model is a much more expensive car originally, and belief is M-B is a good solid car that lasts. Before 50K miles, '02 was certified pre-owned. Great price on '02 (less than $16K). Would love to hear other's thoughts!
Is buying an extended warranty on a 2002 Mercedes Benz CLK a good idea?

I recently purchased a 2002 Mercedes CLK, I was thinking about buying an after market Warranty. Does anyone know of a decent EW that does not require an inspection? Warranty direct or Certified car care are two I have come across. Anyone with an MB CLK that can offer advice regarding reliability?
