my car is an Acura EL 99 auto, this version only exist in canada, it uses the same engine as an civic d16y8.

i Bought it in last july and achieves about 30-31 mpg(hw 75% city 25%). one time i forgot to turn off the engine while refilling the gas so the Check engine came on. the garage guy told me that is the EVAP CODE, he reset it for me but after few days it came up again. he said i need to change the canister selenoid purge valve . so I did not care much.i keep driving the car. I notice that a little bit decreasing in the mpg. from 30-31 to 27-28. and now it's terrible 20-22mpg. I was freak out and decide to change the Evap valve. now the evap code is clear, no more check engine light but my car till get poor mileage 21-23 mpg and the engine now not so responsive and weak. I dun know if whatelse part do i need to replace or to check out to get back my mpg before.

another thing. with this car it takes so long for me to get about 105mph. at that time, on D, rpm is about 4300 and my car can not go any faster even my gas pedal is at the max. I fought this is so weird. this is a Vtec engine and max speed is 125.

so that is my story. I look forward help from you guys, the expert. what i want it what to fix or check to get a better mpg and how can i reach the top speed.

thank you so much.

My 1992 Accord automatic transmission. After starting the car and pressing on the brake the shift gear won't move. It's just stuck in PARK. When the engine is off I press on the shift knob and I can hear a clicking sound coming from underneath the steering wheel area where the key goes.

I have tried pressing on the SHIFT RELEASE and the Gear will move sometimes and only after a forceful pull on it. If you have any solution please let me know.

I am experiencing the following problem with my Honda CR-V ES 2000 which happened after a service was done about 2 months ago.

The Engine has abruptly cut off twice in one week and has happened few time since the above work was carried out without any warning lights showing any malfunction and the car starts after 5 minutes rest. Everything seems to function alright until the next time. Dealer checked it out and they can not find anything wrong (no error code, and can't reproduce the problem) I do not feel safe driving the vehcle and could be dangerous for others.

If any one has experienced similar problem, any advice or suggestion will be appreciated.
My 2004 Honda Civic has been making buzzing noises in the right front wheel area. It only happens about once a week and only lasts for about 2-3 minutes. It usually happens when traveling at a constant rate of speed, like down the highway. The noise will stop when I hit the brakes, but as soon as I left off the brakes the noise will continue until it slowly fades away. Does anybody know what this is?

Thanks,
Justin

2005 Pilot has 50,000 miles. How do I know whether I need to replace the rotors or just the pads?

I brought the tires and pads (front and back) I bought on Tire Rack to NTB (National Tire and Brake). They told me I needed rotors replaces and I feel like they just wanted to sell me this (since I wasn't paying for products there). My Honda Pilot is at 50,000 miles. I took a look at the rotors but since I don't know what I'm looking at I just told them to do the fronts. So they didn't replace the rear pads. How do I know what I need to do with the rears? I have brand new tires and new front brakes and will be getting an alignment this week so I don't want to ruin all that has been done by keeping the rears as they are - unless of course everything is fine.

2008 Honda Fit Problems with Front Windshield Wipers.

We purchased a brand new 2008 Honda Fit in October. Whenever the car has sat overnight and my husband wants to turn on the windshield wipers, nothing happens. However, after a few minutes, and the car has warmed up, they work. We have taken to a dealership and left the car overnight in their service lane under a overhang, and the wipers worked.

Please note that we live in the Fort Lauderdale area, so at times there is condensation of moisture on the windows that occurs overnight.

How and why would this be happening? Any suggestions?

I inherited my sons 1995 Honda Accord EX. I drove the vehicle from Colorado to Arizona without a single hiccup (although I had just recently put $2700 in a new front end). Now the transmission is doing funny things. Wouldn't you know it - just as soon as I put it up for sale it starts acting up. My husband knows nothing about Hondas. Couldn't even find the transmission area to check the fluid. Any suggestions? (besides a new transmission)..

Just got a 2006 Honda Insight. I like it and everything works on it. I wondered if the engine on this type of car is supposed to idle roughly? It isn't missing or irregular, just kind of noisy and vibrates more than any other cars I've seen. Is it because it only has 3 cylinders? Most Honda engines I've seen are very smooth running...even my 2005 Big Ruckus 250cc 1 cylinder scooter.

Just purchased an 08 Civic LX automatic in Nov. This is a strange problem. Whenever I drive the car, I get a pulsating feeling in my right foot that lasts about 20 minutes after I get out of the car. When I drive our other car, another make, I do not get this feeling. I don't know whether it has to do with the accelerator or the way it's idling, or it's an allergic reaction to something in the car, or the way I'm sitting in the seat or maybe it's just my foot. Has anyone else experienced anything like this driving a Civic? I love the car but I'm not enjoying driving it because of this problem.

I am the person who just wrote about the pulsating sensation in my right foot from driving a Civic. Thanks for your information. I will talk with the Honda Service Dept. to inquire about this possibility. My brother thought it may be an allergic reaction to the new car odor or car environment and suggested I just sit in the car for about 15 minutes (the time it usually takes me to drive to work) and then if my foot pulsates after that time, then it's an environmental problem.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your suggestions. My husband says our LX does not have a wire throttle. Your suggestion about driving another Civic from the dealership to see if this happens is a good one and I will definitely be doing this. My foot is not cold or throbbing and I can wiggle my toes. I am using the process of elimination theory to help me with determining what is causing my foot problem. This morning I sat in the car with it not running for 15 minutes (usually my work drive time) and rested my foot on the accelerator. No pulsating feeling in my foot. Then I sat in the car not running for another 15 minutes pressing on the accelerator as if I were driving. Still no pulsating feeling. I also thought that the seat may need to raise or lower. I lowered it and tried again and still no pulsating. I continue my investigation until I find out what is causing this problem. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks again for all your suggestions.
Thanks for another suggestion. Today my husband drove to a restaurant 45 miles from home and I sat in the passenger seat and guess what..it happened to my foot again so it's not the angle of the accelerator. Then on the way home while seated in the passenger seat I kept my right foot up on my lap and guess what...no problem. We stopped at the Honda dealer and explained my situation. He said they have had some Civic owners complaining of heat coming through the carpeting. But our carpeting stays cool so this can't be the cause of my problem, especially since my husband is not experiencing any problems. My brother-in-law thought the seat might be doing something to the nerves going down my right leg to my foot, which is causing this sensation. So tomorrow driving to work I will sit on a blanket that might make me more comfortable. This just gets more bizarre after each experiment. At least I am eliminating some causes. To be continued!

Brian...Another good suggestion. When I drive TO work tomorrow, I will just sit on the blanket and see if that helps. If not, when I drove home FROM work I'll move the blanket more to the back of the seat. My husband said the bottom part of the seat does not move at an angle. It only can move up and down and back and forth. The back support area of the seat is able to move at an angle. I guess I should also experiment with moving the seat in different directions. Something is bound to work (I hope)!
Thanks!

Well, my experiment with the blankets did not work. I still had the pulsating feeling in my foot when I arrived at work. So on the way home I raised the seat but the feeling was still there when I got home. Tomorrow I'm going to lower the seat to see if that helps. There must be an angle that will accommodate me and stop the pulsating feeling in the nerves of my foot. Forunately, I don't have any pain..only the pulsating feeling. I will keep trying different angles until I find the one that works. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it if I don't find one that helps.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I'm willing to try just about anything because we really love the car and don't want to sell the car.
