2001 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 is stuck in 4wd low. I used it in Auto mode, then switched to 4wd Hi for a trip skiing yesterday for 70 miles one way, no problems. On the way home, I started in 4wd low for about a half hour (slow moving traffic) and when I tried to switch back to 4wd hi and 2wd, it wouldn't switch out of low mode, even after letting it sit overnight.

Just bought this Nissan 96 SE V6 Pathfinder. only 60000 Miles. Car starts making stranges movements/ sudden shakes to left or right above 40 MPh.
Especially on highway used by heavy traffic. Is sometimes frightning.
Bought new shocks for front, but this does not solve the problem. Suspect suspension problem . Worn bushings ? Broken Stabilizer rods ? Please tell me how to tackle this strange problem.

2002 Nissan Pathfinder key fob that came with the car stopped working, and no functions work at all.

This is the key fob that came with the car. I purchased it used about 3 years ago. It just stopped working about 2 weeks ago, and no functions work at all. Put new battery in, still doesn't work. I've dropped it before, but not right before it stopped working. It's not banged up and it didn't get wet. I only got one with the car and one key. One answer told me to reprogram it by inserting the key into the ignition and pulling it out six times in 10 seconds, but that didn't work either. If you know of anything else, please let me know. Thanks for answering.

'97 Nissan Pathfinder blown head gasket and/or a cracked head.

I have a 97 pathfinder with the 3.3 v6...on a recent trip I encountered an oil smell and found that oil had come out from the dipstick tube...after cleanning up as much as I could and making sure the dipstick was fully pressed in I continued allong my way. I noticed it was down by a liter and I was using Royal Purple synth (100%) and was unabble to find in that town and under advice I used a liter of Castral syntec 100% synth...all seemed to be ok...a few day's later on my return trip there was an oil/antifreeze smell occasionally and when I got into town the entire cabbin filled with a visible smoke and when I stoped and looked under the hood the pass side engine bank was covered in oil from the valve covers down and back. When I pulled the dipstick the oil was whitish. Experience tells me that I either have a blown head gasket and/or a cracked head. Could I be correct and is there something else it may have been?
Also as a note....there was no change in running temp and no other lights have come on.
If I am in need of an engine replacement could you recomend a good place to look? I live in Red Deer, AB.
Thanks
Craig
Pathfinder has original struts and shock absorbers at 75K miles. Am original owner. Seems to be rougher riding than when new. Tires Michelin LTX at 30psi. About 7K miles of less than 4K trailer pulling and less than 300lb tongue weight. Seems to bottom out on rough roads and parking lot strips. Shop who sells struts and absorbers says they are not leaking and are OK based on fender-bounce test. Would aftermarket or new Nissan struts and shocks be an improvement? If so, what brand? Air bags?

I have a 08 Pathfinder LE with only 1200miles on it. When driven over 35mph...the back end vibrates..feels like a dead body is being dragged under the back tires. This only happens a couple of times a week, thus when i brought it to the dealer today, it did not happen so they said nothing was wrong. When the windows are down during this time, the inside of the vehicle is presurrized so your ears plug up and feels like you are on an airplane. I know its not the alignment because steering wheel does not vibrate and all wheels are balanced, (I assume) and this does not happen all the time. When i first got it it only happened once every two weeks but now its every other day? I have owned Pathfinder for over 9 years and never had this problem before... Rear suspension?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I wanted to get some input on 2004 Nissan Pathfinders. What do you like about it? Dislikes? What type of problems or repairs have you done? The cost of the repairs. Also, what are the difference between a 2003 and 2004 Pathfinder. Models SE, LE and LE Platinum. What type of gas does it need? Super Premium?

The reason I ask is I have been debating about buying one. I currently have a 2000 Maxima that I like but it has around 105,000 mile on it. I bought it brand new back in 2000 and have taken care of the car but the car has been a money pit through the years such ignition coils, sensors and crank shaft pulley has been replaced along with your basics oil and filter, tune-ups, muffler, brakes and rotors. Any information you have would be helpful.

Thank you for your time

I have an 2008 Pathfinder. If just the back window is rolled down and all the other windows are rolled up and the car is driver over 35mph the SUV vibrates and shakes (feels like a you are dragging a dead body) and your ears plug up like cabin pressure. However, if you roll a front window down this somewhat eleviates the problem. I took it to the dealer, he said they are all like that which I did not beleive, so we took a test drive in another 08...same thing happened. What would be causing this? The glass used to make the windows? The rubber seals for the windows? The new design of the SUV? I had a 2001 Pathfinder, I could roll down any window I wanted and no vibration/shaking occured...for $37,000 I should be able to roll down any window I want to at any time...

Someone have an answer, Nissan does not

I took it to the dealer and we test drove another new 08 LE one on the lot, it does the same thing...what would be causing this?

02 Pathfinder w/ 122k miles. I need a new cat converter and the dealer has it for $750 each or I can get it online for $200 each (Eastern Catalytic is the brand). Is there any reason to get the part from the dealer? Will the Eastern Catalytic perform just as well as the dealer's would?

Can you help me?

My 01 pathfinder seems to be stuck in over drive. before this you will be driving along and the slightest dip or bump in the road will cause engine to rev up to 4000 rpm and the wobbling starts, to get control you either have to speed up or slow down. Can someone give me any ideas?
