The car was used and purchased last year from a used car dealership. We do have some kind of a repair warrenty, but we were told that many Auroras are hard to steer at slow speeds. Not been too much of a problem in rural Michigan, but my son just got a job in Chicago and I cannot see how he could ever be able to parallel park. Anyone else have this problem?

My 1999 Aurora is having power steering issues. When turning to the left it works fine, but when turning to the right, it is virtually non-existent.

So far, the main consensus is that it is the rack and pinion.

You answered another user's post in re power steering for an Olds Aurora. When I turn the wheel to the right, everything is fine, when I turn to the left I have a ton of resistance and it basically feels like there is no power steering whatsoever. I replaced the PS pump and flushed the lines…still no resolution. You mentioned in the other post that it could be a valve in the rack & pinion that could be sticking. I was looking for more info on this. In what part of the rack is the valve located, is that assembly replaceable or am I going to have to replace the whole R&P system?

Car drives great...motor is in wonderful condition considering it has 96K miles. Actually I am very happy with the vehicle except for this one issue. The fan on the climate control system, whether it is on auto mode or manual, will not come on. This happens in both the cooling (air conditioning) and heating function. HOWEVER...I will get warm/hot air through the vents after the vehicle has warmed up AND I am running at highway speed. It will also provide a trickle of ice cold air under similar operating conditions when the a/c is on. Would greatly appreciate any idea's as to how to diagnose what exactly is wrong with my car and whatever info any of you can provide. Thanks in advance to any of you that answer.

What will I get myself into if I decide to replace the HVAC blower motor on my 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora?

When I returned to the car this evening the fan started with a loud (speed was on high) bass, drumming, vibrating noise. I haven't removed the fan from the vehicle as I was wondering what was the best procedure to follow? All of the plastic panel underneath the dash appear to be tight and are not contributing to the noise. I have had other electronic equipment fan motors lose a pole within the motor and they would sometimes develope a druming vibrating noise. I am not sure if this fan is causing this or if there is something else that could cause this. I have already checked the cabin air filter to make sure that this was not causing the problem.

Brought in to a mechanic twice and both times they have no clue what is causing the problem. We initially thought it was the starter. The car runs when it wants to. One day you will go in and turn the key and nothing, but the power to radio and lights go on and we placed a new battery.

I am driving a 97 Olds Aurora with 110,000 miles on it. The sunroof has not worked in 4 years. One day the sunroof would not close, I would push the button it would close, then open etc. Eventually all power stopped to it, no power lghts lit etc. At least it closed in the closed position. Soon after I realized the switches on the front and back passenger windows also didn' work. I am able to control those windows from the driiver's side however.
This was an after market sunroof, if that helps. I have tried replacing fuses but that didn't work. I would love to use the sunroof again.

Soon after I took possession of this car, I had the dealer repair the sunroof for the same problem and it worked for 4 years, before it happened again.

95 Olds Aurora with electronic controls for the seats. Buttons will not work to move the seat with the exception of the one that moves the back of the seat forward and back. The seat is locked back away from the steering wheel. The control that moved the seat forward and back quit but the personalized button still worked (for about a day). Now the personalized button doesn't work either. Is there a fuze somewhere that might be the probloem? Someone said something about checking to see if there's power getting to the motor underneath the seat. How do I do that? I can't afford to spend any more more than I absolutely have to.

Hi,

I just replaced the shift solenoids that in the transmission of my aurora that were broken. With these broken I only had 2nd gear and the ECU put it in limp mode. I fixed the solenoids and did gain 3rd gear. I still do not have 1st and O/D.

What would fix the remaining issue that I have? I was thinking an ECU may fix it but I dont want to just throw parts at it and have them do nothing.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

We got into the car and got steering colume apart hoping to replace the cylinder but no such luck. Is there anyway to get a set of replacement keys for this car? Locksmiths cannot seem to do it they tell me. It seem to be the most secure key system out there! Can believe i would have to junk a car with 20 k on it for no keys!!!

Does anyone have any idea why an ERLS fuse would continue to blow? I just replaced one, and as soon as I started the car, it blew again. Is this fuse related to the tranny?

Hi,

I have a 1996 aurora that will not start. When I attempt to start it all that it does is click from the fuse box that is under the back seat.

the back seat is odd and i can hear the click comeing from there.

On the dash the brake light turns on when attempting to start it and the fuel gauge goes down to like the car is off.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Water leaking under water pump area and won't stop. 98 Olds Aurora.

have 98 olds aurora that was low on cooling fluid and was still drove. it got up to temp of 230 now it is leaking heavily under water pump area .took water pump and mounting housing off put on new seals /after reinstalled and filled with fluid still leaking under pump area .could this be a blown head gasket or cracked block .would like to know before taking motor completely apart .is there an easier fix for leak?

since this is an v8 motor taking it apart is a last resort. Would a compression check on front cylinders show a blown head gasket? How do i check for cracked block if this is problem? Is there a block sealer that would work to stop leak?
