My 2001 aztek lost its brake fluid. I suspect it must be the brake like at least that is what I want it to be, I am thinking it is something I could fix and show my 17 year old son that his mom is cool.
Pontiac Aztek is losing brake fluid and needs a transfusion.

Hi Patrick, Thanks for your help. I put new fluid in after cleaning around the master cyl and the ABS. Fluid is leaking out quickly when the car is on and we pump the brakes to try and increase presure in the system. I have not gotten the car up on ramps that will be later this am. The leak is not at the wheels but appears to be in a front connector or a line. If I can get this repaired can you give me advice on bleeding the line? I really appreciate your help!

Can the rotors be machined, or do they need to be replaced? Pontiac Aztek.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek Rally that needs new brake pads. I'm just wondering if the factory rotors can be machined, or whether they need to be replaced. The vehicle has approx. 90,000 kms, no hard driving, and the rotors don't seem to be warped, only slightly grooved. All the brake shops I've been to insist (without even looking at the vehicle) that the rotors have to be replaced and are adamant that they cannot be machined. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pontiac Aztec makes knocking noise, in time with wheel speed, at rear when braking.

Soon after having the front rotors and pads replaced the knocking noise started and it comes from the rear of the car. There is no pulsing through the pedal but the noise, which is in time with the wheel speed, seems to be worse when going down a steep hill or when braking hard. It is not as noticable but still there when braking very softly.

I replaced the radio in my 2004 Pontiac Aztek with a newer radio from a Grand Prix (2004-2007?) that I bought on eBay. When I installed it, the radio played for a few minutes and then locked. I need instructions on how to find the code and reset it. The radio Part # is 28010713. Any help would be appreciated. I found some instructions on Google but they did not work.

Have never had a problem passing smog check in Nevada. Had to change the battery a week before taking car in for smog check. Also changed the gas cap about three weeks prior. Now the car will not pass the Evaporative system diagnostic evaluation or the Oxygen sensor heater diagnostic evaluation. Was told by one smog tech that the computer needed to be reset, but have put on at least 150 miles since the installation. Have no other problems with the car, starts easily and runs well.

I own an 01 Pontiac Aztek. The "information sytem" light comes on when I shut off the vehicle. What's wrong? New BCM needed?

I own a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, with 95,000KM on it. When I shut it off the "change oil light" comes on followed by the "information system" light. The oil is 1 month old I know it's still fine, I also reset the "oil light" when I changed the oil. I have tried several times to reset the light without solving the problem. To add to it,the "information system" light comes on right after that. Is this the forerunner to future, larger problems? Do I need to replace the BCM? If so, where can I find the best price? Can I re-install the BCM, or is it best left to a pro? Is it proprietary GM installation?

Hello and HELP!!! My 2004 Aztek apparently has a clogged sunroof drain. Yesterday the passenger seat, passenger foot well and headliner were drenched after a heavy storm. Can anyone describe: exact location of drain openings in the sunroof tray, where the drain tubes terminate; do the drain tubes terminate with a nippled-end or open; the best way to clean them out. I think I am right that Azteks are similar to Montana's and may share features with other models. Can anyone help? If you have a diagram of drainage locations and hose termination, it would be a great help. Thank you. Derby

I have a 2005 Pontiac Aztek with 48000 miles on it. I just started having a problem with my airconditioning. The unit blows cold air and cools the interior just fine. But it is making a lound whinning noise. sounds almost as if it is struggling to run. It is very loud from outside the vehicle, but it is hard to hear from the interior. I have not had any problems with this vehicle so far, or with my previous Aztek ( a 2002). Hope someone has some insight into this problem.

The AWD Disable and Anti Lock warning lights come on after hitting bumps in the road and sometimes when making left hand turns. Warnings are cleared when engine is restarted. Many times warning lights do not come on.

Taken car to GM Dealer and since lights not on at the time, they said they could not do any diagnostics.

Doc J,

I see you answered a similar question. Both my warnings sometimes come on after hitting a bump in the road. A few times in the process of making a left hand turn. Clears when I restart the engine. Often I can drive without warning lights coming on.

I have taken to GM dealer and they said since the warnings were not on at the time, they could not diagnosis.

I have extended warranty from CarMax. Do you think this will be covered?

John

I have also just replaced my BCM and have not had it programmed yet, that wouldn't be the problem would it? (fans would not come on before i replaced BCM and made sure i changed that sensor twice...fans come on and stay on when i unplug the sensor so i know they work).

I own a 2003 Aztec and it has had too many problems! What can I do?

I bought a 2003 Azteck brand new in 2003.I still owe $4225.00on it and have had all these problems and some. I have had the rocker bolts strip right out. This has happened 3 times! Gm covered the 1st at 36,000 miles. The next one was at 78,000 and they paid 80% and it was $2000. The first 2 times the replaced the intake manifold and fixed the stripped rocker bolts. Now it happened again at 118,000 and they said since it is over 100,000 they will not help! This time it was only one that went out and I paid $550 to fix it. This car is the worst. I also have a leaking gas tank which has not been recalled yet. I asked since my insurance company lists it as a recall. They said it has not been completed as a recall yet. I have had a wheel bearing go out. Thank god it was under warranty at the time. And ignition problems where the key would not go in and then got stuck. What can we do to get rid of this and get something worth what we paid for already??? I need help on what to do!

Parts store said battery only had one good cell. When put new battery in the car still won't start. Does make noise but never actually starts. Tried jumping again in case new battery wasn't fully charged, no luck.

Pontiac Aztek Noise Question You Answered

Had tires rotated before I sent question and problem still exists. It's noticeable as soon as you start moving forward. I did the following:

Shook both CV joint shafts and neither seemed overly loose or different side to side.

Jacked up car and rotated all wheels, couldn't hear grinding or feel any looseness in the bearings.

Tried all gear ranges and neutral and noise & vibration stayed the same.

Wondering if the transaxle may low on lube. Trans level ok, engine oil level ok but still some sort of "weepage" under engine area. I couldn't see any obvious fill plug like on manual trans or differential.

Still have some warranty left on vehicle. Will get it into shop Monday and see what happens.

Thanks for your time and answer. Will update you on what I find out so it may be of assistance to someone else.

Thanks again,
Doug

How can I move my Pontiac Aztek when it is stuck in park?

I have read all of the forum on Azteks and I haven't had all the problems... maybe 85% of them!!! I hate my Aztek right now, I am stuck in park after fishing all day and barely off the side of the road. It will start and runs fine and I just can't get the shifter button to allow me to shift out of park. Yes, my foot was on the brake... And I tried turning the steering wheel as this has released it in the past. I also disconnected and reconnected the battery to see if reseting the elec. might help. It just won't budge and I am ready to rip the shifter off. Any advice on what to do??!!?!?
