Anybody know how to reprogram the keyless entry remote for a 96 mazda protege?

After draining battery accidentally, it stopped working. I have tried several ways found on many different web pages, but none worked- actually none of them were for the 96 protege. Does anybody know a procedure to reprogram the keyless entry remote? Thanks.

k.

I have 1995 Mazda 626 4-cyl; "O/D Off" light flashes on and off.

I put car in tranny shop the 11th of this month with "O/D Off" light flashing on and off, no shift to 2nd range and no overdrive. Overdrive selector button on shifter no longer controls anything.

Got car back and 3 miles down freeway the "O/D Off" light starts flashing again. Over next few days, the "no 2nd range and no O/D" symptoms reappeared.

Took car back to tranny shop and they rebuilt tranny again, installed auxilliary transmission oil cooler. This time they got 3 miles down the freeway before the "O/D Off" light started flashing again. So they took the car back today (Dec 31) and there it sits. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Why won't 95 Mazda Millenia S torque converter lockup release?

95 Mazda Millenia S smacked hard under front end on steep paved mountain intersection at less than 5 mph. Immediately, torque converter locked up and will not release. Fluid is normal, no leaks. Shifting is still smooth and appropriate for speed. Fuel economy is not changed. No trouble lights lit (ie. check engine, etc.)on dashboard. Car has 155,000 miles. Other than this problem, car is perfect.

Trans shop quotes $1,300 to fix, but "could be more if we run into additional problems." (In other words, bend over and open your... er, check book). Local Mazda dealer won't even look at it. I'd be willing to live with permanent DIS-engagement, if there is some way to do it cheaply. I've driven over 5,000 miles since incident--cold starts are difficult, but I make weekly 600 mile interstate roundtrips & car does fine at speed. But to get started requires revving engine in neutral before shifting into Drive. Then transmission slams into gear. It won't take this abuse indefinitely.

I will appreciate any help anyone may offer.

I can play "burned" homemade CDs in my 2004 Toyota Highlander CD Player. But the same "burned" CDs will not play in my brother's 1999 Mazda Protege. A co-worker recommended buying a new CD player as the older players do not recognize the codec or format of "burned" CDs. I would like to surprise my brother with a newer CD player for his Protege so that he can listen to his "burned" CDs. What are the dimensional specs of the factory installed CD for his '99 Protege and can you recommend a basic and inexpensive CD player for this purpose ?? Thanks.

Mazda 626 cylinder heads

I am replacing the cylinder head gaskets on my 2000 Mazda 626. My shop manual refers to the "front" and "rear" heads, but the gaskets are labeled "left" and "right". Which head is the "right" head? The one near the firewall, or the one in front by the radiator? Up side and down side is easy to discern, but either gasket looks like it fits either head just fine, and I know it is critically important to get it right. Thanks, Pepper01

Trying to remove a nut and bolt from my lower ball joint (Mazda Protege 1996) but it will not move! I've tried WD40, propane torch, impact drill, wrenches and vise-grips. Nut is solid. I've rounded the nut now. Having trouble on both left and right lower ball joint.

Is my last option a nut splitter? The bolt and nut shouldn't be too hard to replace at a hardware store.

The noise sounds like a spring vibrating or a pump revving. The brakes also seem to release a bit. I assume it is something to do with the abs system but I have had it checked out at a service station but the can`t find the fault. The brakes work perfectly at speed and the only time this happens is just before I stop. I would be very grateful if someone knows what`s going on.

Cannot find anywhere an explanation for the off and on fan symbol I get, along with this symbol is the word zone on one side and cal on the other. What is this and what does it mean???

I'm told that they are on National Backorder, and I have a customer in my shop that for a week has been searching for them. I've tried everywhere and he's ready to trade it in because of the fact he can't replace a blown tire.
