They had problems with the circuit boards on these....check for power at the circuit boards with the brake pedal depressed.

Also, the brake/stop lamps are wired thru the Turn Signal switch which on this model is the multifunction switch.
I believe this is wired thru this switch on this year as well,if so,the problem could very well be the multifunction switch....many are known to fail on these models.
so much so that are earlier GM Blazers/etc,they had recalls for this reason...

Did you check the fuses in the rear fuse box as well?

I would check the wiring right behind the brake light switch, one may be loose.

Yes I checked both fuse boxes....So where would I begin to check on the multifunction switch?

Get a test light and check for electrical power at the rear circuit boards ,remember ,with the brake pedal depressed.
If power is present,i would suspect faulty Circuit boards.
I believe these were under a recall for this model year.Check with your dealer, call them with your VIN #.
If no power,i would say you have a faulty multifunction switch.

    Recall Summary
ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, VIBRATION AND HEAT MAY CAUSE THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP BULB TO LOOSEN IN ITS SOCKET. IF THIS OCCURS, THE BULB MAY FLICKER AND EVENTUALLY BECOME INOPERATIVE.

    Consequence
AN INOPERATIVE BRAKE LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER'S INTENTION OF STOPPING TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES, AND AN INOPERATIVE REAR TURN SIGNAL LAMP WILL NOT CONVEY THE DRIVER¿S INTENTION TO TURN TO DRIVERS IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES. BOTH OF THESE FAILURES CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

    Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TAIL LAMP/STOP LAMP ASSEMBLIES, AND IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THEM. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 22, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, OLDSMOBILE AT 1-800-630-6537, BUICK AT 1-866-608-8080, OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.

There is also whats known as a Special Policy on these.. which is similar to a recall except it has time and mileage restrictions.
This special policy extends the warranty basically on the circuit boards to 6 years or 72 k miles.
Basically a recall is done automatically on the affected vehicles.
Special policys are done on an as needed basis. In other words,if the condition is not present,no action is required until it occurs.

So more than likely this is your situation, you may get repairs for free, you may need to pay for repairs ot pay for parts and install your self.
    Contact your dealer ...
    Let me know the outcome
