06 GMC Yukon Denali climate control help needed.
My front heater isn't working properly. The heater appears to work fine (heat comes from the vents), but the blower on the climate control doesn't come on even when the temp is set higher than the air temp. Air conditioning works fine, and the blower is perfect when in air conditioning mode.
I removed the climate control panel (it has a part number on the back of 10367041) and reinstalled it; then it worked perfectly in heat mode (blower worked fine) for one day, and then stopped working again. Once it stops working, you cannot even activate the fan manually in heat mode.
I read about removing the fuses for 30 seconds, and tried this, and then the unit worked fine again for one day. Next morning, no heat blower.
I again removed the control panel, and even removed the assembly screws to inspect the inside components for obvious damage or loose connections. There was obvious heat browning on the wires connected between the circuit board and the plug, but all wires were intact and landed. No loose circuits or obviously blown transistors/resistors/etc. Once I reassembled it and reinstalled, again the unit worked perfectly until the next morning!
I disconnected the battery per dealer instructions, and touched both battery cables together to discharge all capacitors, and reconnected. Again, the unit operated perfectly for another day and then the next morning again, no heat blower.
So it appears some component works fine until it heats up, and then maybe triggers a shutdown signal to the computer that there is a problem. I'm trying to determine if this is within the AC Heater Control panel, or some other component within the system that I am overlooking?
Dealer wants $115 to test, and tells me that there is still a greater than 80% chance testing won't identify the exact problem; and he will essentially then throw parts at it.
I can get a new climate control panel through the internet for $150 (half of dealer price) but I'm not sure if this is the most likely solution to my problem? Is there another part I should be considering to replace, or do my symptoms appear to point to the AC Heater Control panel as I suspect?
Thanks!
