1987 Jeep Wrangler with transmission problems.
I have a 1987 jeep wrangeler with the inline 6 and a manual transmission. The tranny is stuck in 1st gear. When the clutch is pressed in the motor disengages from the tranny but I cant get it out of or into any other gear. It worked fine one time and then it got stuck next time I started it. Any suggestions?

I suspect it's not the transmission but the shifter linkage. The shifter selects the gears via a set of control rods which may have become bent or are binding. If you can get under the car and take a look, you may see what's wrong with a buddy inside trying to move the shifter. A good tug on the rods from underneath may be all you need. Good luck!
