sounds like you have a loose electrical connection in the engine bay.check for loose wires, dirty or corroded connectors.i highly doubt that the fuel pump is faulty,,unless when you close the fuel filler door,,the explorer won't start either.
Replacing the fuel pump did not work for me. It still does it and I'm still searching for answers. My mechanic can't figure it out. Could be the fuel pump switch, fuel pressure regulator or other issue????
