1995 Nissan Pathfinder SE. Does it have integrated starter security, using the automatic shifter?
I bought this used vehicle in July and only drive it occasionally. When I bought it, someone from the car lot informed me that the reason it would not start, with turning the key resulting only in a clicking sound was because I had to move the shifter to some mysterious correct position and that this is a security measure provided by Nissan. Is this true? If it is please let me know the correct way to position the shifter to start the vehicle, as I was stuck at a busy gas station for about 15 min. trying to start the Pathfinder yesterday (9-15-08). In the center consol between the seats, there is a button that says security alarm from the factory. How does this work, if it is still functioning? There was no owner's manual included with the Pathfinder, but maybe I should start looking for one.
Thanks, Lizbeth
